Freddie, due to this video, I have now had to purchase a 2023 Triumph Speedmaster. I pick it up from the dealer on July 13. I saw your video and started hunting to find one. Took the bike for a 1 hour test ride and fell in love! This bike for me is what riding is all about. I am a South East London Brit living in Tennessee USA. I have owned loads of machines ( currently riding a 2002 Honda VT1100 Shadow, excellent machine by the way) through out the years from 1979 onward's and this Triumph is wonderful. This video reminded me of the days when my girlfriend and I would zoom out to the beautiful countryside south of London to have lunch at a wonderful pub and do some sightseeing too, also trips to France with my old British mates on our bikes.
The countryside of Tennessee is reminiscent of England and has some wonderful roads and scenery. You and Monica would love it.
I decided I wanted a Triumph when I took a trip back to Blighty six weeks ago and rented a Triumph Street Twin 900. Absolutely loved it. The handling was crisp, engine responsive, just a great riding experience. Did a trip down the A23 by the way. Visited an old pub called the Kings Head in Wineham. Love watching your videos and am completely jealous of the bikes you ride and journeys you do. Keep up the good work.
I hope to do a ride from London to France or Spain next year with my mates from UK.
Ride safe
For 30 years I've enjoyed day tripping with my partner on a motorcycle doing exactly the sort of things your portray in your videos. I find it so strange that virtually no other youtube videos give any time to enjoying your bike with your partner. Great camera work Monica and by the way larger riders can spec straight handlebars for more leg room.
I got my Speedmaster in 2018 when the new model was just released. It has been over 3 years now and I never regret with my decision. I dont ride much but it always make me proud and enjoyable. Just love the bike. Nice video!
Love your expertise, analysis and experience. You have summarized the bike from a historical, technical and just plain cool perspective. Makes me absolutely want one!
Tough decision between the Speed master and the Scout. I've ridden the Indian and it is a bruiser of a bike. Triumph is a classier bike I think I would take the Speed Master Cheers mate.
Very tough call between them! Glad you found it useful John🙂🤜🏼🤛🏼
Triumph is a best reseller...
Have you considered the Harley Lowrider?
As always, gem of a video!!... I own a Street Twin..but already have my heart on Speedmaster.. good work Monica!!!
Hi Freddie. I recently became aware of your channel. After 27 years of abstinence I bought myself in March 2023 a Bonnie Speedmaster. I´m close to 6'4'' (90kg) and have no problems riding the bike👍 Your reports are very refreshing and informative. Keep it up👏 Greetings from the countryside of Hamburg👋
Yu are one of the best bike reviewers. Keep up the good work. Simple, sincere and informative !!
My absolute dream bike. Thank you for sharing such a gorgeous work of art.
Thanks Marlon, I’m a very very big fan of it!🖤🏍👌🏻👌🏻
Triumph is always a dream bike...whatever model, Boniville is perfect as day to day commuter. Speed master here is joy to watch.
Love the format Fredster, keep up the good work.
Thank you for posting this review! I believe this Triumph Speedmaster is a pure British old-school classic, the most beautifully designed and best cruiser out there :)
Love your enthusiastic reviews… reminds me of david Attenborough at times.
I have this bike in the same colour and love it, if I was asked to design a motorcycle to my own specifications this would be it….The bike was built for me and everybody else who feels it’s the bike that makes them smile 😊
Thanks for the great reviews.
Thanks very much James!🙂
I'm with you 100% on the look and way this bike makes you feel- it's very special👌
Bet you wouldn't include that ugly cheapskate black plastic clock in your design.
Fantastic video as always.I love the Speedmaster it’s a thing of beauty.
Greeting Freddie from Gympie Queensland Australia. Thank you for your reviews of Speedmaster. You answered my questions perfectly, so much I picked up my Speedmaster today! My fourth Triumph 2× TT 600s, bonnie T120, and now the Speedmaster. Just spent an hour on her, what a great bike. She is a 2018 model with 37,000kms on the clock for 12,000 Dollars. New Speedmasters are 23,000 brand new in Australia. Thanks again Freddie keep up the great work
This is such a chill video and really showcases this beautiful bike!
Great setting and Monica is good with her camera angles and range of depth. Another top video both, very well done 👏🏻👏🏻
Great way to explore places, going out to Deer park with kids on this bright Sunday.
Really love your videos here in The USA. Great information. Beautiful scenery. Like the mentions of clothing and kit you sport as well. Well done mate. Would love to try this bike but I am 6’3. Darcy and the old man reviewed the bike and the old man is 6’3 and he seemed to not have a problem.
Without a doubt it is one of the most beautiful motorcycles, but the cake also looks very good... Greetings from Portugal
It was a very good cake!😆🍰 Hi over in Portugal!🙂🙌🏻
"Best sounding Euro 5 bike..." completely agree. One of the best sounding stock exhaust sounds I've ever heard. I love mine!
Also bang on about the size. At 6'5" I had to swap the stock bars for some LSL flat trackers, But a £50 mod and it fits me perfectly.
Nice touch by Triumph in keeping the instrument display basic and retro looking. Love everything about your reviews, they are so different to others doing the same thing, it's more of a personal insight with someone owning the bike, it's more organic, I am sure there's a TV channel producer thinking the same thing. I've also got a new alternative distination for coffee & cake.
Thanks very much Sam!🙂
Great blog thanks for sharing. Being 54 this year I've had the speedy since 2018 and have no intention of changing it. Like you said, with the panniers , rear seat and back rest its the perfect cruiser for me and the missus. Two up is a little hard on the mono shock and the back brake is nearly none existent (but aren't all bikes) i love this bike and after 40 years of having bikes this is the 1st I can say is a forever bike
Very interest re the rear shock with a pillion! Thanks for the insight Pete!🙂
RE and Triumph make the real modern classics that's what I like about them. TNX for video
It IS a beaut! Comfy and stylish. Keep up the good work!
Thank you!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Brilliant looking bike with classic aesthetics. This will be my next bike.
Brilliant review Freddie...as you mentioned this one does get a little over looked...but your feature puts it firmly back on the radar...for some reason Triumphs can also be underrated...I can't explain why...they re all fabulous...styling, quality and authentic nostalgia for the Bonneville classics reimagined for the 21st century...as many reviews here state, it's your genuine enthusiasm and appreciation of the craftsmanship that goes into them that brings them to life for all of us that appreciate all motorcycles...finally, it's the lifestyle touches that really add to the interest, nice locations, civilised coffees and cake !
Perfectly teamed and tuned with Monica at the camera...thank you
Thanks so much Martin!!
@@FreddieDobbs love you reviews Freddie ..really refreshing bringing the appreciation of motorcycles and motorcycling lifestyle to the new generation and 21 century
Awesome video and awesome content can’t wait for the next video Thanks Freddie and Monica
That Speedmaster looked like it would be perfect for Monika, time for her to take her license too! :) Love the restaurants/cafés recommendations and the "tourism guide" sections in your videos, as well as the gear-for-the-day bits. Have fun riding that gentleman cruiser for the week.
Thanks so much Arnaud! This is the first bike Monika really loves!🖤👌🏻🏍
I have owned this bike since 2018 - it is the best bike I’ve ever owned - I love my Speedmaster!
Every time I watch your videos I feel I should get my own bike out the garage and ride
Some great shots of the bike in this video. Good work.
I test rode the Speedmaster and the T120 Bonneville. I went with the Bonneville T120 for 2 reasons.I rode the Harley Fatboy for many years and wanted a change and the the Bonneville was the bike to have when I was growing up in the 60’s.
Gorgeous bike, well presented by yourself. The cake didn't look bad, either. Thanks for the ride 👍
A friend of mine ( 2 wheeled Willie) has posted a few videos about his Speedmaster.. He's 6'4" and loves the bike but is in the process of trying to move the seat back as he feels too far forward... An absolutely stunning bike and in its perfect setting 👍🏾
Great choice! I own two of the bikes you mention and I have been thinking about adding this bike to add to my collection as well. Pity it didn't come with the pillion seat for your Brighton trip. I agree with you about your choice of the most beautiful bikes... 👍
Lovely video as usual folks! it would be great to see a review of the old 865 Speedmaster and how you feel it measures up to this new one
I have the truimph speedmaster like that in the same red and everything as you have polished the engine cases and oil case cover all looks like glass all hand done looks brilliant and with a screen 🏴👍🏻
Great review as always! I love the Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster! It was a tough decision for me, but I winded up opting for the Harley Davidson FXFBS FAT BOB 114 with a Stage 1. I love it, but I often think about the Speedmaster! My Fat Bob 114 is not as classically beautiful as the Speedmaster, but it has that daunting “Mad Max” post apocalyptic look to it which I love. I think someday I will get the Speedmaster as a second bike because it’s just so incredibly beautiful!
I love my T120, I really do; but good lord that’s a pretty bike! Another great video review, feel like you’re getting into your stride with these now 👏🏻
Thanks very much!🙂🙌🏻
Cool looking bike, great video Freddie
I bought a new Speedmaster 865 in 2007, loved it but PX'd it in 2010 for the Thunderbird 1600 !
never go back the 1600 is so good, still got it !
The Thunderbirds been a real dream bike of mine- I was desperate to own the Storm when it first came out!😃🖤🏍
Great bike. Bought one a couple of months back and very happy with it. Currently at the dealership getting its first 600 mile service! The stock bike come with a pillion seat albeit small which you didn’t mention. I like your laid back style of review!
Thanks Paul! I think the Triumph press team took the pillion seat off because they don't like pillions riding their press bikes (absolutely no idea why!)
I'm with you this bike is gorgeous!! And the sound...👌
Thanks for the video
I have the same motorcycle (2018)
Too bad yours didn’t come with the pannier seat for Monica
Love all your videos 👍
Ahhh Raymond I WISH it had a pillion seat (I have no idea why it’s been taken off!)
Thanks Raymond!🙌🏻
Can’t decide if I’m more envious of the great sound of that bike or that lush cake you were eating ! 🇬🇧🏍
😆😆
This was the first video I watched from your channel, I really liked the Triumph speedmaster, beautiful bike, delicious cake 😋 and a quality jacket made in Portugal, which is my country...subscribed channel. Greetings 💪
Thank you Armenio!🙂
Such a gorgeous motorcycle!
What a beautiful motorbike, I've been looking a modern classic bike that looked like Hermes from the Kino's Journey anime and this one actually looked like it.
As a Speedmaster owner of 3 years standing, I wholeheartedly agree with you about how beautiful it is. It does come with a pillion pad, not a seat, a pad. Your good lady had lucky escape as it is not in any way comfortable. At 6'3" I do wish the controls were a few inches further forward. Other than those small faults, she is the best motorcycle I have ever owned, and I've had a few.
Thanks for the input Paul- great to hear from an owner. Interesting regarding the seat and also that at 6'3 you still find it fine size-wise (very good to know and I'll remember this if I get asked).
Even in DK it is a gorgeous bike. Love the classic 1950'ish 60'ish style.
You said it all mate :)!!! Lovely review.. I have the Speedmaster for a year now ( July2020)... Sweet comfy powerful bike... My only grouch is the low clearance.
very well presented freddie, you ought to have your own tv programme.
can't believe you put your boot on the engine 😱😱 good review by the way and a very nice bike and am thinking about getting one
20 seconds in and love the vibe already
Thanks Oliver!🙂
If I ever get back into cruisers this is it. You said it: Gentleman’s Bike.
Cool dude, cool bike. I can't wait to get my hands on one of these real soon.
Cruisers dont sell in Europe. But, I owned one for years and BOTH my wife & I loved it. Funny, cause I dont miss it, but we put 20,000 miles on it many great memories. Stump pulling torque under beach bars & no more than 2.5" Inches of rear travel! Rough roads, yeck. Everything else- awesome!!!
Hola Freddie , en el año 1983 me quedé en Royal Tunbridge Wells , precioso lugar. Y la Speedmaster es una moto que estoy pensando en comprar. Un abrazo desde Tenerife.
You know what Freddy, you're like a kid with the Motorbike!
Another great video Freddie , sorry to see the scrambler go but this looks a lovely bike and one I’m looking forward to seeing in your next blog . Always wait in anticipation for your next very interesting video. …. You get to some great coffee shops too , would be great to see you riding the lanes up here in Cheshire . See you and Monica in the next vid .
Thanks very much James!🙌🏻🙌🏻
Great review dude.. I picked up my black and white speedmaster last month and agree with everything you said... Absolutely stunning bike 👍
I can imagine how proud an owner you must be! I’m a bit worried how much it’s been growing on me!😆
@@FreddieDobbs.. Get one Freddie! Suits you dude 👍
My dream bike would’ve been a custom chopper Shovelhead from the 70s but regulations in Singapore don’t allow us. The Speedmaster perfectly replaces that as a brand new motorcycle. I’ve had it for almost half a year now using it as my daily rider and I wouldn’t have it any other way. You’re not alone, Freddie. This truly is an exceptionally brilliant motorcycle. I’d love to see you bring the Speedmaster around London and do a little tour (you should ask Triumph for the pillion seat!). I used to have some trouble lane splitting with the stock handlebars. After installing my custom ape hangars, lane splitting is a breeze. Looking forward to more content on the Speedmaster, heck I don’t even mind seeing all six days on the Speedmaster! Keep up the great work, cheers!
- Sharul
Ahhhh thanks Sharul!
I'm delighted you commented about ape bars- you're the second person to mention this and I think if I owned the bike I may consider this too!🙂
Solid, I also appreciate however you’re recording the exhaust! People really need to know how awesome these sound stock from the factory 💯
Great review Freddie, want one!
Solid review man! My Dad had a Scout for a good few years and I rode that a bit, but having owned a Speedmaster for a year now... Look, I'm not saying Scouts aren't wonderful, but it's little contest, really. ;)
Ride safe and see you on the next one...!
It's been my bike for 3 years, I have the color sapphire black fusion white, it's beautiful, I've had a lot of bikes but the Speedmaster is the most beautiful and the most fun for driving. I am very happy with my beautiful Speedmaster I will not change now.
Greetings from France (Brittany) 👍👍👍 ✌
Merci for the owner's insight!🙂
I was really looking into this one before you review it, it looks like a bike that could be used for touring. Very very interesting. Thanks !
Glad you found it interesting Samuel- this would be a dream for touring!👌🙂
Just discovered your channel. Subscribed after 5 minutes. You’re good.
I love the Speedmaster but I’m not quite old enough yet. Will get the Speed Twin.
Another good review freddie, I like how you just describe things as you see it, bravo sir! I've got a speed twin in the last month which is a fabulous bike and suits me as i'm 6'3", the speedmaster as you point out not ideal for me at that height. I'd be interested in a speed twin review if mr.triumph is kind enough to lend you one anytime soon.
Thanks very much, and I’ll try and borrow a Speed Twin- there’s a LOT of interest in them!🙂👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
vlogs are pure vibes !
Got my first bike the Bobber at age 50..Almost two years later I'm
picking up the Speedmaster next week..
Can't wait ..Great video.
Still have either? Preference? I’m deciding between the 2.
Hi. I still have the Bobber but sold the Speed master on.. They are both great bikes in my opinion. Have you tried them?
I thought I'd never say it about a motorcycle like this, but it looks really nice, elegant, manageable.
My taste in bikes has been changing over the years, but still, I think 1.2 litres is a car displacement.
The review was pleasing, and the scenery beautiful.
It really is a very easy bike to live with, and incredibly manageable. It is the sane sized engine as my Fiat 500!😆
one of my favorite triumphs. opted for a used street bob, but damn, now i want to make that trade.
Great vid again but come on Freddie, none of this sitting on the fence malarky mate😉, my main riding buddy has one of these and absolutely loves it.
To my eyes I find the Scout Bobber more striking visually but not ridden that yet, no doubt both top rides!
It's all about the FUN of the bike :-) love mine
you do your reviews well mate...thumbs up to you
Just watching this a the Speedmaster arrives on the 7th, looking forward to riding it, followed by the Street Scrambler another fav of yours i know 👍
Nice video Freddie. I liked the summary of the difference between the Indian and the Triumph at the end, as that was my question! Good to hear the Triumph’s more forgiving. Probably down to the huge shock under the seat. Try Wiltshire some time 😊 Cheers
Thanks Peter, really glad you found it useful!
I’ve never considered Wiltshire, but I will now!🙂
A beautiful bike, this will be my next one.
Hi, yes a gentlemen, s stead , ride ability for fun roads . Cruise all day , it just needs an arm chair for your pillion . Well presented Freddie .
Thank you!🙌🏻🙌🏻
I would love to try it with a proper pillion setup (backrest, panniers etc)👌🏻👌🏻
Amazing sounding stock exhaust for sure!
Beautiful bike, especially the black and white ones. On a clear day, you should be able to see that license plate from outer space.
I do not remember when I started watching your videos (you had taken the bonneville to the new forest camping), anyway I stumbled on this one and had to watch because I test rode the speedmaster in 2020 before opting for the tiger 900.
I am only 5’6” and therefore the foot forward position was a bit of a stretch for me, although it can have mindset pegs.
I did love the fact that when stopped in traffic both feet are down and still seated, although the only negative was that as you get nearer to 70 you have to really hang on due to the wind making you like a kite.
I would still love one, mine did have a full seat though.
Ian
Great sounding exhaust 👍
I watched this bike on review by mr darcy and the ole man they loved it i think i have fallen in love with it totally stunning
The Speedmaster is actually dual seat. The Bobber is the single seat. But it looks like someone just took off the passenger seat on your Speedmaster. You've got the grab rail there....
Best of both worlds
I've been binge watching your videos while I've been working over the last few days and I've got to say I really enjoy your authenticity and appreciate your daily gear section towards the end of each video....Although not sure my wife would appreciate all the suggestions for new gear haha. Really hope you continue as I'm sure you'll be very successful.
I've got to ask though, what is your preference between the AGV X3000 and the Nexx X.G100(I'm more so looking at the R version)?
I'm also tempted by the Shoei Glamster, as my current helmet is a Shoei and I've liked it, however the £400 price tag is a bit hard to swallow when the safety rating is effectively the same.
Thanks so much for the support Nathan, I’m delighted you’re enjoying the content!
The AGV would just (close call) be my choice as I prefer thinner padding and a wider visor (better field of vision). But that’s just personal preference as theyre both good helnets🙂
The Glamster looks superb- I’ve never tried one but they look incredible!
Your video is awesome and you have the best classic bike so nice watching your video i want to purchase 1 same colour .
Thank you bro for this nice video
Ride safe
beautifully presented.
Fitted the monotone x pipe it sounded great before but Now it’s deeper rumble in da jungle it -chesty Tarzan.… not really much louder. Slow speed snatching has gone and the fan hardly cuts in now runs so cool….and I live in SA alongside the Indian Ocean and man it’s hotter than a nun in welly boots. 110% worth it guys .. this week project - turn signals changed for led billet style with integrated running lights. .😀😀 doing a great job Freddie👍👍👍👍👍
That's really interesting- a lot of people say the x-pipe makes a really big difference. Good luck with the indicator change- always the first thing I do on my bikes!:)
just watching for second time , it really does suit monica
Most beautiful Triumph ❤
Another great video. The Speedmaster was one of the bikes I was considering but I bought the rebel 1100dct instead. Got it on Thursday the 15th. Just loving the DCT not loving the lack of accessories. You must take one out for a test ride. I'd let you borrow mine but I live in Preston
Thanks Peter! People are raving about the DCT and Rebels- I’m curious to try one!
That café is just a few miles from my house. Driven past it many times but never gone in. I will now though!
Great upload as always 👍🏻 prefer the look of my R Nine T but the Trumpy is also a beauty 😎 managed to sort the exhaust sound on the BMW with some faffing about but totally agree about Euro 5 bikes, generally very disappointing sound wise. Awesome cake shop I’d be such a fatty with that place on my doorstep 😬🍰 looking forward to the next one, ride safe, Steve 👍🏻
I couldn’t argue with anyone saying the R9T is a stunner of a bike!😍🏍👌🏻👌🏻.
Really glad you got your exhaust note how you wanted it!
I do have a gift of finding these coffee/cake spots!😆👌🏻🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰🍰
So beautiful bike 👌👌👌
Speed master suspension with Bobber bits added on. Done and done.
I love mine and have zero issues, standing a hair over 6'2", fitting on it. Mine sounded good stock, but after a X-pipe and BC slipper pros its way better.
Sold my BMW R1200R to go back to the Triumph brand and bought the Speedmaster. It's my 4th Triumph after owning a T100 Bonnie, a Sprint ST, and a 1200 Explorer and I'm thinking it could be the bike that takes me into old age as it's perfect for older blokes like myself. Taking it for it's first long multi day ride next week-riding the PCH from San Francisco to the OC and back. Keep up the good work Freddie. I'm married to a Londoner and she wants to move back even more after watching your vlog. Your travel vids rival Jamie Robinsons'!
Thanks so much, that means a lot! And WHAT A RIDE you have coming up- that sounds like a riding dream! Have a great trip!😃🤘🏼🏍
@@FreddieDobbs Just got back yesterday. Great ride! 1200 mile round trip in 5 days. Speedy was amazing. Twisty roads, highways, lane splitting on the interstate. I may have found my do it all bike!
What could be better a Triumph bike and a sunny day in the UK 🇬🇧
Every day of the week I'd have that over any Harley.
Except the day you have to do chain manteinance jajajaa
