Had my 2023 Speedmaster Chrome edition. I've added highway pegs as you have. I'm just under 6 ft and 180lbs and find the manueverability exceptional. The torque gets you out of any trouble, especially in city traffic. The Harley's et. al. are clumsy by comparision. I'll give the Harley an edge at cruising speeds in excess of 80mph but under 80mph I love the stability and feeling of control that Triump gives you. Simply love this bike. At 81 years of age, the ergonomics is keeping me on the road.
100% agreed - I'm 60yrs, 5'10, 80kg's, and this bike is perfect for me. From all riding situations through to maneuvering in the garage, It's just a pleasure to own. And they can boogie through the gears, make no mistake!
As i think i told you before, i have sold my speedy and bought a Harley Road King Special. I loved that Speedy, but my missus couldnt get on with being a pillion on it. The Harley cost more than twice the price of the Triumph, but it isn't twice the bike! If it was up to me, i would have Speedy back tomorrow. Keep up the good work mate.
Hi Andy, yes I remember 👍 I do like the look of the Harley Road King Special! Haha fair enough I bet your misses is much more comfortable on that. That is good to hear you still have love for the Speedmaster. For now it is my favourite cruiser 😁 Many thanks and all the best
I’m sadly at the end of a trip to my old buddy, Simon, in Massachusetts. He generous loaned me his Speedmaster for a road trip to Vermont covering 650 miles in three days. He was riding a 900 Tiger and the third member, Mark, a Suzuki Boulevard cruiser. The Speedmaster has had modest remapping to improve low end fuelling and a Corbin seat to suit his needs. Simon is much taller than me so for him it’s an armchair on wheels. For me with 30” inside leg the seat was a little high for my shorter legs and the bars a bit too far forward for my lesser reach. Neither massively detracted from a fabulous three days’ riding along a range of roads including freeway, backroads, gravel (yes, really), poor surfaces, twisty hill roads. The Speedmaster had no issue keeping up or maintaining speed through corners with very predictable handling and a flickability that belies it’s 265kg. I have a T3 Cali and it’s reminiscent of it’s handling. The engine, however, has way more grunt from tick over and will settle into an easy top gear lope. Acceleration is very impressive and gear changes easy and precise. For the riding we did, this was a great bike. It has a tank capacity of just 12 litres so I expected a small range. Not so. Simon averaged 58 mpg for his 7,000 miles. Zeroed off, my three day average was 68.5 mpg. This, however is US gallons. In UK gallons a staggering 82 mpg. On the last day it rose to a whopping 87 mpg. This was a not a dawdle by any means. I remain stunned that 12 litres could provide well over 200 miles. To shove 265 kg plus me around and return that economy is incredible and put the other bikes to shame yet doing no more. My ATAS DCT a case in point. As a final point, the 270 crank that is almost the norm on parallel twins is, to me, form over function. The suggestion of more torque is nonsense. It adds v-twin sound which is nice but makes the power pulses uneven and causes vibration under load that, for example, BMW flat twins don’t have. Bring back the 360 parallel twin! That said, a great bike and fun ride. Try one! Cheers, Ian
Hi Ian, thanks for the update from your trip 👍 That is all great stuff to hear, so good to hear all of that positive feedback on the Speedmaster. Having toured through the Alpes and Pyrenees mountains I agree with everything you said. Haha same I have taken it on a few gravel roads, when I got lost. It handled it very well and I never had one thing go wrong. One of the stand out features to me is the handling, for a cruiser it is surprising fun through the corners. I think I need to get my bike re-mapped as I average around 58mpg! I must try a 360 parallel to feel the difference. Cheers for the update and great to hear that you had a good trip. It is making me want to pack up the bike and head off for a few days 😁
I've ridden 7000 kilometers with my Speedmaster now. I think it's perfect compromise between larger cruisers and smaller dual sport bikes. It's great in cities and good enough for touring. I agree it's not the best if you want to ride long days and get around the globe. For my use it's the perfect bike.
As long as it is the perfect bike for you that is all that matters 🙌 I am currently absolutely loving it. As you say it is such a great compromise between a big cruiser and something that actually handles properly!
Hi! I live in Mexico and I love my own Speedmaster! Also love your videos, they make me feel like Im sharing the whole Triumph adventure with you, because I got mine almost the same time as you did. About mental health, no amount of Prozac will ever compare to riding a motorcycle on any given highway. Pure mindfulness on its most authentic form. Greetings from Puebla!
Greetings Eduardo ✌️ Many thanks so pleased you are enjoying the videos. That is great we are on the same journey with our Speedmasters!! Such a great bike I have absolutely loved mine so far. So good to hear that you find motorbiking so good for your mental health also, it really is such a great form of mindfulness 😁 All the best to you.
Hi Duncan, wow that sounds brilliant 😁 What a great trip and some serious miles you have put on your Speedy. I am very jealous!! That is what it is all about, whatever the perfect bike for is, then that is the best bike! Cheers
I’m dreaming of a Speedmaster. They’re just so beautiful! Great honest vid and big fan of your mental health awareness shout outs. I’m struggling with a bit of anxiety at the moment and it’s no walk in the park, so I appreciate you making a space here where it feels ok to talk about it.
Hi, they are stunning bikes 😁 could not be happier with mine! Thanks really pleased you liked the video and so good to hear that you find the mental health side of the channel a bonus. We all struggle sometimes and talking about it makes it sooo much easier to deal with. Anxiety can be particularly hard at times, I hope you feel better soon. All the best.
I agree the Speedmaster is a beautiful bike, always turns my head when I see one. I love the mods you've done to make her individually yours. If I won the lottery or something, there would be one in my stable and you're right that average to smaller people would find them friendlier. Good video, your honesty is refreshing.
Thanks Lily 👍 Glad you like the mods I have put on Speedy. Yup they are definitely not the perfect bike if you are over 6 foot, but anything below then the dimensions are really good. Cheers and all the best. Hope you got to re -book your CBT?
My son wants to do his again at the same time so it will probably be in August when he has time off. My open face helmet is arriving today and will hopefully make a difference to the heat and claustrophobia 👍🏻
It’s the best cruiser in the world in my book. I had the 2003 carbonated version in yellow and black and the rake was too far out, not for me at all even though I loved the low seat height and Cadillac soft rear shocks (it would bottom out over holes but I didn’t care), but the 2022 with the upgraded gearing giving it more power standard, long time before shifts, comfort seat standard, it’s great. I hope the 2023s have the Michelin Road tires standard and I’d love for the Speedy to be tubeless. It’ll be my next addition, I recently sold my Harley for a 2022 T120 and love it. We’ll see what the next few years bring. Keep loving the shout outs for mental health, motorbiking does wonders for it.
😁👍 Absolutely! I suppose it is all personal preference at the end of the day, but it is definitely my favourite. Triumph have got the balance of a cruiser that handles well ,yet retains its classic looks so well. Its a keeper! Thanks, motorbiking has done me so much good and continues to do so. I will always support mental health awareness and the benefits that motorbiking has for us.
my wife bought me a goldline for my 60th. Ive done 1800 miles since may. to me chuckle (thats its name) and its the best bike i have ever ridden. love it, love it, love it
Now that is a great wife you have good sir!! What a fantastic present, I love the Goldline's 👌 Great name for it as well. Sounds like you have been enjoying it and putting down some good miles. All the best and hope you continue to enjoy your Speedmaster.
Just turned 8000 miles on a 2023 Speedmaster. Owned many bikes over the years, and this one is by far my favorite. Great blend of style, comfort, and performance. Only two minor complaints: wish it had a higher capacity fuel tank and another inch of travel in the front suspension.
They are such great bikes and all I hear is good feedback from them 👍 I completely agree they would be good editions to improving the bike. The rear shock also needs to be a bit better! Cheers
you nailed it Bud, does it matter whether or not someone calls it "best" in any cathegory. Matters that it's best for you and love it! Ride safe. Cheers from Poland
Real nice Bike Angus..I like the foot pegs at the front for stretching out on long journeys… it’s great to hear someone talking about their own Bike.. shows the passion .. makes me feel normal .. lol..
👌 Many thanks Adrian, I appreciate it! Yup the foot pegs are great. I don't use them that much to be honest, but when on a long trip on the motorway it is so nice to stretch out the legs. Haha thanks, I could do a video on her everyday!!
Yes, I agree 100% with your convulsion! Especially after I the recently completed a 21 day cross Canada round trip, just Bonneville and me. You gotta love it! Oh yea 😎
I would like to see the dresser bars blacked out as they compete with/distract from the look of the downpipes. Love the bike and thanks for the review.
This bike could be the best Cruiser in the world , and the fact that it is not a big motorcycle is ok with me, because even on touring I like to do small stops between every 200 kms. This Bonneville family is an enchantment!❤❤
Hi Angus, mine just turned 2 years and I love the bike. I'm 6.1 and my only complain so far is I couldn't make the touring screen work, the buffeting at any speed above 65mph is unbearable. I ended up removing it and just riding without the screen. Getting the full wind experience. 🤘
Hi Rodrigo, so good to hear that you are still loving your Speedmaster 👌 I am very much still enjoying mine, such great bikes. Yes I can imagine at that height that the buffeting from the screen is pretty bad. I am just about ok with it!! Nothing wrong with embracing the elements 👍
The best cruiser I've ever ridden was the Indian Chieftain Darkhorse. Huge powerful Thunderstroke 116 Very comfortable too with the rear Fox shock. I do love how this speedmaster looks though. Hello from Connecticut.
Hi, great video!! I’m picking up my 2019 speed master on Thursday and cannot wait. I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and they really helped to make the decision. Keep up the great work 👍
Hi Steven, thanks so much I really great to hear you enjoyed the video 👍 Congratulations, I bet you cannot wait to pick it up! So pleased my videos have helped you make your decision on getting a Speedmaster 😁 Many thanks, and all the best. Hope you enjoy picking up your bike.
Hi Steven, I'm seriously considering this bike and saw one at this age with around 20,000 miles on the clock (a shade under £8,000). Anyway, I would appreciate any feedback regarding your purchase good or bad. 👍😁
I love my Speedmaster it's plain to see, a pretty penny has been spent but that's between you and me. I've been a biker for many years, it's good for your health but watch out for the deers! All said and done it's plain to see the Wonderful Speedmaster is definitely for you and is definitely for me. Ride and Stride Angus!
@@redangrevival And you Angus.. I'm back in the garden working on BB, adding little bits here and there... boy's in a sweet shop! That was just a little poem on the spur of the moment... "I don't know why" ... from "Frasier"
I like the older versions just because of the larger tank. I have a 2014. 5 gallon tank is great for me. The handlebars are also quite unique. Haven’t been able to find any other bike with that relaxed bar.
That is one down side to the newer Speedmaster's, the tank is a tad small. However I suppose that is what helps to give it's good looks. A great classic styled cruiser the 2014 model 👍 Looks very comfortable as well. Hope you continue to enjoy it. Cheers
The Speedmaster is the perfect size with enough power it sounds as good or even better then the HD v twin its my wifes bike I feel kinda large at 5 11 but I feel small on my RG so you cant never have everything The white and green Speedmaster is beautiful bike
Thanks Kevin, glad you also like and appreciate the Speedmaster 👍 Yes it is not the best bike for larger people, but I find the proportions just right for me. White and green sounds like a lovely spec. Cheers
I think Triumph have gotten back to producing some beautiful looking bikes after going through a bit of a "meh" period, putting all their design efforts into adventure bikes. I still haven't figured those out yet. I am yet to see one that looks as if it's just come back from some off-roading. The new model Speedmasters are now looking like they have regained some of the character of the old days, you know, where the "R" and the "H" were joined together, and when you had to twiddle the carbs before finding tdc, (and freeing up the clutch beforehand) and then kicking it over. *Sigh*..... Those were the days. I can still hear my late Dad telling me I got more oil on the garage floor... But yes, you have to go a long way to find a cruiser with the Triumph's looks. From the nicely rounded tank to the lines of her swing-arm, to the gorgeous graphics and gorgeous rear profile, what isn't there to like. I was looking for a good place to store my mandatory hunk of wood for whacking the Amals when they stuck open, when the nice man at Hamilton Motorcycles told me that they aren't real... The hardest part of getting back on a Triumph has been changing gear with my left foot. Anyway, I'm off to investigate why BMW's are now rated R18.
👍 Cheers that was a good read! I have never experienced the pleasure of riding a classic Triumph! However I am trying to get a ride on one. I bet it was such an involving experience. You had to know your bike so much better back then. Yup there is a bit of "fakery" going on, but I don't mind, still looks great 😁 I must admit I love the R18, stunning bike! Enjoy
Glad it's your opinion I owned one my wife also. We found it down on power for a 1200 cc range is terrible , ride is harsh bottoms out easy and most of all it scrapes on corners and bends so bad it's scary. I had a Thunderbird prior should have kept it.
You know that I have one as well . And at the end of this week i'm off on 820 mile round trip on my Speedy. She will have well over 12000 miles on her. And I have love every mile on her. On the mileage it's good for this bike! And you need to take brake after 100 miles of riding. Just to be safe! Ride on Dude!
🤙 Awesome, so glad your loving your Speedmaster! A solid amount of miles as well. Perfect bet you cannot wait for that trip, nothing better than heading off on a long trip 😁 Enjoy
I've got a 790 Bonneville.... best decision I ever made. British gentleman's bike is a good description. Absolutely solid, and stunning. Your bike is looking good brother, I could be tempted but the Bonneville for me was a bit more of an all-rounder.
👌 thanks glad you like the bike, I appreciate it! Absolutely perfect British gentleman’s bike. Fair enough the is more of an all rounder for sure. Hope you continue to enjoy it.
Thank you very much for your reviews! I had an idea of buying BMW r18 but I watched your videos on r18 and Speedmaster and I thought: Triump is lighter, more nimble, more manageable and cheaper! The only thing that is better with r18 is… coolness of having such big and luxury bike (and maybe really long distance ride, that I never do). But what disturbs me is your insistence that Speedmaster is for smaller people (I’m 6 feet) 🤔
Hi, thanks so much really pleased you liked the review 👍 Yes that is exactly it, if you are not looking for the biggest and most expensive, then the Speedmaster is a great option compared to the R18. Especially if you are not going on longer rides. I think at 6ft you would be ok, anything above that then you may want to consider something else. However if you are not going on longer rides then I think you will be fine on the Speedmaster 👍
A very good piece, thanks. I wouldn't know if she is the best in the world but she's the best for me. One comment- you may be a more spirited rider than me; I get c 160 miles from a tank, at c65mpg average. I have just bought a BMW R 1250 RS - my plan had been to trade the Speedmaster, but I couldn't bring myself to do it - she's a keeper.
Thanks so much Ralph I appreciate that 👍 Absolutely all that really matters is whats best for you, I am over the moon with my Speedy atm!! Yes perhaps I am a bit more eager with the throttle! I get more like 58mpg. I have had a de-cat which I suppose may effect it. Congrats on your new BMW. Haha I no exactly what you mean, I would find it really hard to get rid of the Speedmaster. Just such a special bike. Cheers
Definitely has the classic Triumph looks with updated technology. I have the Thunderbird LT and absolutely love it too. Can't beat those classic lines.
@@redangrevival The Speedmaster is going to be my next bike as I get older and lose the necessary muscle to push around that 850 pound Thunderbird LT. I love that both the Speedmaster and Thunderbird LT give the owner several bikes in one. One day you can have the windshield and saddle bags 💼 configured as touring bikes. The next day remove the pull off windshield and rear pillon and you have a bobber . Granted both a higher refined level of a bobber. Such versatility even in the aftermarket exhaust systems.
Thanks so much, they are beautiful aren't they 😁 A nice laid back cruiser style and so comfortable as well. There is a small digital tachometer below the analogue speedo 👍
I had a 2005 Speedy that I loved. When I was ready to upgrade last year I couldn’t wait to try the new one. I felt like a giant sitting on it unfortunately. It’s beautiful without question but it just didn’t fit me as well as the T120 that I wound up getting
Thats a shame! Yes the new model definitely is built for the average to smaller gentleman/lady. I think that is part of what makes it look so good though. Hope you are enjoying your T120 👍 I really hope Triumph make a large/big capacity cruiser, to compete with the BMW R18 and Harley Heritage softtail!
@@redangrevival they did…my brother has a Thunderbird that’s a 16 or 1700cc. Nice bike, a bit heavy for my liking but I think they ended production recently
Lovely bike. I’ve got one. I had to put the bobber mid controls on mine. I got sick of trying to find the forward ones! 1 question….Why do you leave the sissy grab bar on when you’ve taken off the rear seat? I think the bike looks better with a clean back end. Totally agree that the tank is too small. All things considered, price, quality etc.. I think it is a fantastic bike
Hi, thanks glad you like the bike! I know what you mean with the foot controls. I actually quite like the forward position, I like the old school cruiser feel to it. To be completely honest, I did mean to remove the sissy bar, but just have not gotten around to it yet 🥴 Thanks for reminding me! Think it will look much better with it off. Cheers
The problem with the Triumphs is the expensive shim valve adjustment every 12,000 miles. It's a big deal. Costs you a few hundred dollars. Same with Honda cruisers except it's only 8,000. Harleys have automatic hydraulic adjustment, so you don't have worry about it. Same with Kawasaki Vulcans. . ,
Thanks man 👍 I completely understand. They are not ideal for tall people, you would be better off on a larger cruiser. P.S I rode the V-Strom 650 XT today. Fantastic bike 😁 I was very impressed. I bet the 1050 is brilliant. Such a great all rounder, really did enjoy it!
Hi Angus, I love the Triumph speed master for its classic British build quality and although I haven’t ridden one yet, it certainly looks like a very comfy ride. I will take one out for a test ride as I’m intrigued to find out. I own a 1997 Yamaha XV 750 Virago which I love for its build quality, looks and it sure is a comfortable bike. I would love to see a classic bike review someday. Let me know your thoughts👍 Happy riding and have a great week Angus✌️
It rides as good as it looks 😁 I love the XV 750, such a classic looking cruiser. Love the rake of the handle bars and seating position, very cool bike 👍 Absolutely I am working on trying to arrange a few classic test rides soon! They will be so interesting to ride compared to all of the new bikes I review. Really looking forward to the different experience. Thanks so much and the same to you. Take care 🤙
@@redangrevival Thanks for the speedy reply Angus. I really look forward to these up-and-coming reviews on all the golden classic bikes. Have a good evening there.
I agree, but then, she's not *really* a cruiser ;^) There is nothing else like the Speedmaster. It is a 1950s classic, a modern bike, a cruiser, a bobber, practical-side-of-impractical, sensible-side-of-trendy, light-side-of-heavy, small-side-of-large. I love her, but all bikes are an imperfect compromise.
👌 true, the best way I could describe it though! Perfectly put, she is great in all aspects. Whatever the perfect bike for you is then that is the best!!
Nice review Angus. Good way to trigger all the yanks by saying it's better than a Harley. The BMW R18 would just be so impractical on small bumpy pot holed British roads. I've still not bought a Speedmaster! 4 bikes already makes for not a lot of space in the garage. I have to decide which one to sacrifice for a Speedmaster. In a cruiser beauty contest the Speedmaster would definitely win. Small and perfectly formed. The only downsides for me is that Triumph didn't give it the same grunt as their Speed Twin or Thruxton RS which is at least 100bhp and similar torque. The engine can easily provide this. I found above 70-75mph on fast dual carriageways where you can open it up, the Speedmaster does get a bit ragged, quite a view serious vibes. It's best in the 40-65mph range which corresponds to twisty UK B roads. Yes I guess the tank could be a little larger say 17 litres but it would not be something that would put me off buying one. In fact with fuel prices the way they currently are, it would be an even bigger shock when filling up with a larger tank when coming to pay! I filled up my Sprint ST1050 a couple of days ago and it cost £31.80!! Admittedly it as was E5 99 octane fuel which was about 9p/litre more expensive than std E10 95 octane unleaded but you get better performance and higher mpg. Still a shock as even last year it was still only around £19-20 to fill it up. Those foot rests look like a really great addition as do all the other accessories you've added. The only other thing which was personal to when I rode one for a few hours on a test ride last summer was that the seat although comfortable is positioned so it pushes you back. Looking at it side on I can see why as it slopes back. When I was riding it I felt like I had to constantly sit up as the shape and angle made me sit back and slouch and cause pain in my lower back. So had to keep consciously remembering to sit up fighting against the seat which was allowing me to slouch. I would look at raising the rear mounts of the seat a couple of inches if this is at all possible, to make it more flat? The Speedmaster is still a drop dead gorgeous bike. For the next gen Triumph must give it more power at least 100bhp, a larger tank and a far better pillion seat and mech better double brushed aluminium or chrome clocks just like their Thruxton R. I am not so keen on the single black rather plasticy looking clock. What was the name of the castle?
Thanks Alex, Glad you liked the review. Haha yes I think it will prick up a few ears on the other side of the pond! I am looking into replacing the cam shaft to the same as in the Thruxton RS, think this will really free up the engine and give it that higher up performance. I only find it hurts my lower back when I have my camera bag on for too long! But this is the bags fault. I must get a new bag haha I 100% agree for the next gen they should have the chrome clocks rather than black plastic ones! It would compliment the bike so much. Not too sure! But it is the entrance to an estate called Orchardleigh in Somerset. Beautiful place. Cheers
I have a 2000 Indian Chief already love ride that bike I also bought a 20-22 speedmaster. What I seem to have a problem is finding a low profile seat. Similar to the ones you could get for the 2016 speedmaster or American
I love the Indian Chiefs, especially the old school models 👌 Hope you are enjoying your Speedmaster as well! Unfortunately I cannot point you in the right direction for that style seat. All the seat options I have seen for the Speedmaster seem to be thick padded.
Red your bike is looking really nice exactly the right conclusion although having said that it's a lovely bike if I had one I would have to change those bars put my leg over one in a shop a while ago and felt a bit odd .apart from that great bike .
Thanks glad you like it 👍 I know what you mean, but you get used to the bars fairly quickly. They actually have quite good leverage on them for counter steering. The flat bars do look good as well, just a different style. Cheers
Nicely filmed! Love the looks of the Triumph- I’ve a softail slim Harley which is very similar. I often feel like a kite on mine, does the seating etc on the Triumph give a similar workout? 👍🇬🇧
Rocket 3 is the Triumph more comparable to the R18. If you want a BMW to compare the Speedmaster to, get a hold of the new R12 as soon as your dealership hookup can manage it for you.
Both look like great bikes 👍 I suppose if you want the more cruiser style looking bike it would be the Honda. However that Triumph does look very comfortable and I bet the wind protection is brilliant. Good luck with your choice!
Have you ever ridden a model from 2022 with Euro 5 specs? My personal opinion is that there is a slight difference between the 2019 model and the heartbeat. I liked 2019 better.
There is nothing humble about this claim, but the Speedy makes a strong case. For not much more on the used (US) market, you can pick up a HD Heritage Classic 2018+, which is every bit as good looking and a great deal more powerful.
Speedy is up there with the best of them for sure. The Heritage classic is of course more powerful, but on UK back roads I would take Speedy all day long.
On some motorcycles, when you change the exhaust, you have to remap the engine so it will run as it should. Did you have to do that with your Speedmaster after changing to the Vance and Hines exhaust?
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoy the videos 👍 I think the Speedmaster is great as a first cruiser. Not too big and heavy etc... Brilliant introduction to the cruiser world
I ride an ‘09 Thunderbird 1700. It’s a pity you don’t mention Thunderbird as Triumph’s heavy cruiser, a highway star!! Btw nice Speedmaster and beautiful English countryside!
Hi Angus have you decated your bike and put a K & N air filter in ?. My Speed twin benefited by as much as an extra ten miles per gallon. As a result I can over 200 hundred miles on a tank full ( 14 . 5 lts ) . Today I went from Sheffield to Lowestoft and back a trip of 407 miles on 5 . 5 gallons thats around 70 + miles per gallon . Still a bit stiff but very pleased with the performance . All the best Matt
Hi Matt, yes I have had a de-cat and got the K & N air filter as well!! I get on average around 58 mpg, which is not bad at all but I do spend a lot of time at petrol stations 🥴. I am thinking of getting a performance cam shaft for Speedy! Think that will free up the engine quite a bit. Hope you had a great trip, cheers.
Can you advise a part number for the filter 2019 Speedmaster .. any improvement on performance .. Ihave de catted the bike with a Montone x pipe.. thanks
So now we've got the Speedmaster with a low seat height and foot forward pegs, can we have the pegs on the BOBBER put back in the RIGHT POSITION, at the back of the frame, like most bikes.
Hi! Grate reviews. I am super excited just by the thought of buying the new speedmaster :D Your looks amazing. But I have a question. Where is that jacket from!? Or the brand of the jacket?
Where did you get the handlebar risers. I’m looking at this bike and find the bars a little too low. I asked the dealer about risers and they said they aren’t available so would be really interested to know where you go them. Great video!! 👍
Hi there - enjoy watching your reviews, hoping you can help me. I recently bought a 1200 Speedmaster, having previousley had an 865, big difference between the 2. The 865 had some really good bar risers that brought the bars up and back. I have seen one of your vids where you say the make of the risers that you have on your 1200 but I cant find that video. Any chance you can let me know who made who you got the bar risers from? Thanks.
@@redangrevival Thanks for that, sadly they are out of stock at the moment, so just have to keep my on their stock. Only just got my 1200, a massive improvement over the 865. I noticed in one of your Speedmaster reviews you rode through Cheddar Gorge - one of my regular summer runs, I only live a few miles from there, the roads accross the top of the Mendips are some of the best roads to ride. Cheers.
I think they are good looking bikes and will go out to remove the cover just to stair at it and my wife thinks I crazy for doing that so before she gets off work I better get out there and soak it in real quick and get her covered up before she gets home
🤣🤣 Brilliant!! I know exactly what you mean, they are just so good to look at. You need that fix daily!! Haha enjoy and hope you got it covered up before she got back from work 👍
When you've done your long tours abroad, did you have any pain in your wrists? I love the beach bars and had no problems, but having just taken it for a 5 day tour, I've now got painful tendinitis in my left hand, apparently from the angle of the grips. I'm gutted and really don't want to have to change her. For me the beach bars are a major draw so I'm not interested in changing them for straight ones.
@@redangrevival Thank you. It’s the beach bars that I love most about the Speedmaster so I’m hoping I’ll simply get used to it and the pain stops. By the way do you still have Speedy?
While I Love the Triumph I would like Your take on the Suzuki Boulevard 1200cc It has caught my eye and it looks just great as if it can do it all even has a respectable size gas tank... Let hear what U Think... From Terry in Texas
Hey, could you please tell me what brand of boots you're wearing in this video? They look great. The jacket as well, if you'd be so kind. I'd be beyond grateful. Thanks!
Im torn between a T120 and the Speedy, T120 is noticeably torquey but the speedy feels way more comfortable and the seating height rendered more confidence. Have you ever wanted a T120 after all?
Yes the T120 is great and would actually argue possibly more comfortable than the Speedmaster (individual build depending). I am happy with my Speedmaster because really I wanted a cruiser style bike. Both great it really does come down to what style of bike you are after. Highly recommend a test ride 👍
@redangrevival I’m torn between these two as well. The T120 is a little high, not quite tippy-toes, but the balls of my feet - not totally flat footed so there’s that slightly awkward feeling. If I shift my weight to one side or the other, it’s fine. But I do like the better lean angle as I’ve read many complaints that the Speedmaster scrapes the pegs a lot. For reference, I’m 5’6” with a 30” inseam. Do you feel the height difference would make a significant difference ; and how has been your experience with pegs scraping? Love your videos btw.
@@mikeguilbault1795 I suppose the pegs do scrape if you are trying to ride fast around corners. However that really is not what the bike was designed for, I do scrape them every now and then but not enough to not want the bike. As for seat height there is a big difference between the two bikes, the Speedmaster is very low. For performance riding the T120 wins! Depends what your preference is.
I took the front screen off within the first 20 miles. Too much buffeting. Saddlebags and the petrol tank are too small for Aussie roads. 45,000 ks later
The speedmaster and triumph in general just oozes sophistication whereas Harleys are more about attitude and trying to be a badass. Both have their quirks but I could never own a HD, I find them slow, sluggish, unrefined, bad value for money. My triumph t120 is perfect for the style so a speedmaster would be too similar for me. I'd want the super badass, loud, obnoxious cruiser type to complement my t120. I think Indians are far cooler than Harley Davidsons and sound better imo. The Indian scout rogue would be awesome but the prices are hilarious and it's still only got a single disc upfront. Guess we are all waiting for Triumph to make a new thunderbird
A new Thunderbird would be fantastic! I know what you mean, but I like Harleys, just the price is not great. However Triumphs always have that edge with performance etc...
@RedAng Revival I like Harleys too but they are priced 3X higher than then should be imo. Its a bit like Royal Enfield, they're great bikes at that price. But if the Interceptor was £20,000 we would say they are terrible. Harleys just need to be more like £7000- £9000 instead of £20,000+
How dare you, I love my highway screen 😂 Only joking! Fair enough each to their own in the looks department. I personally like the look of it and the wind protection on longer journeys is a massive plus. Cheers
Agree with everything you say. They are not the biggest and baddest bikes, but they are so well balanced for a cruiser 💪
I have a 2021 Speedmaster and I LOVE IT. As I am 5’8” it fits me perfectly and I agree, I think it is the best looking cruiser on the market.
🤙 It has such great dimensions doesn't it! Great to hear you are loving your Speedmaster as well.
@@redangrevival Glad to help. Home now so back on the ATAS!
Wow. ❤
Absolutely Eduardo
Greetings Eduardo ✌️ Many thanks so pleased you are enjoying the videos. That is great we are on the same journey with our Speedmasters!! Such a great bike I have absolutely loved mine so far. So good to hear that you find motorbiking so good for your mental health also, it really is such a great form of mindfulness 😁 All the best to you.
Hi Angus I agree and have just completed a 4000 mile 3 week trip around Europe on my 2022 Speedy and it’s been the perfect bike for me 👍🏻
Hi Duncan, wow that sounds brilliant 😁 What a great trip and some serious miles you have put on your Speedy. I am very jealous!! That is what it is all about, whatever the perfect bike for is, then that is the best bike! Cheers
Definitely the best looking cruiser. It’s good that there’s at least one brand that still knows how to make a beautiful bike.
👌
@@redangrevival thanks man :)
@@lilynorthover8378 Perfect, always good to do it with some else. Yup open face helmets are great, feel the elements more and so much more freeing 👌
What a fantastic present, I love the Goldline's 👌
Great name for it as well.
Cheers
One man and his bike. Nice to see someone happy with there choice of bike, and so you should be enjoy. 🙂
Thanks Scott, absolutely I am so pleased with it. No complaints here! Not yet anyway haha. Cheers
you nailed it Bud, does it matter whether or not someone calls it "best" in any cathegory. Matters that it's best for you and love it! Ride safe. Cheers from Poland
Thanks, glad you agree. All the best 😎
@@redangrevival nice one Angus.. 👍
Yes, I agree 100% with your convulsion! Especially after I the recently completed a 21 day cross Canada round trip, just Bonneville and me. You gotta love it! Oh yea 😎
👌 Great to hear that you agree! Nice that sounds like a fantastic trip, I would love to tour around Canada one day. Very cool 🤙
🙌 The size and proportion do make it a really special cruiser bike
Good to know, I love the look of the Speedmaster but I'm 6'5" so was worried about the size of the bike.
I love my speedy! 600 miles and will be taking it in for its first Maintenace soon.
👌 So good to hear that you are loving your Speedmaster! Nice they get even better once the engine has opened up a bit after 1000 miles. Enjoy
The best cruiser I've ever ridden was the Indian Chieftain Darkhorse. Huge powerful Thunderstroke 116 Very comfortable too with the rear Fox shock. I do love how this speedmaster looks though. Hello from Connecticut.
Hi, must be honest I have never ridden one of those! Sound brilliant though
😁 awesome, that is fantastically said! A pleasure to read, bravo 👏 Definitely watch out for deers haha.
Cheers and have a great day.
@@redangrevival And you Angus.. I'm back in the garden working on BB, adding little bits here and there... boy's in a sweet shop!
That was just a little poem on the spur of the moment... "I don't know why" ... from "Frasier"
@@LionTheHeart It was a good one 👍Nice, enjoy your day working on BB!
Cheers
There's a German company called Wunderkind-Custom which makes a 16.8l (4.4 gallon) tank for the Speedmaster and Bobber.
That is a shame you found that! By no means is it the most powerful cruiser around, but that is not what I got it for.
Personally, I do believe that the 2018 Speedmaster is the BEST cruiser, since I have one. I have no complaints.
I was so close to making the Speedmaster my first bike, but I got Speed Twin 900. I’m ready to upgrade and the Speedmaster is back on the list.
I highly recommend it, you wont regret the upgrade 👍
Cheers
You gotta love the bike you ride...speedmasters are cool but I love my 2022 indian super chief limited. Each to their own!
Hear Hear 👍 At the end of the day it is all about what makes you happy, whatever style of bike it is. I do love the look of the Super Chief!!
Definitely has the classic Triumph looks with updated technology. I have the Thunderbird LT and absolutely love it too. Can't beat those classic lines.
👍 Just ideal bike for me at this moment. As you say I just love the classic British looks of it!
@@redangrevival they'd be crazy to ever change those classic lines. You get a hell of a lot of bike for the money 💰 as well. Motor safety friend.
@@NobilityandLoyalty A great substitute. Yes that is a huge bonus of the Speedmaster, it is just so versatile 👍
Excellent vid! You hit all the high/low points right on the head.
Thanks so much Keith, really pleased you liked that one 👍 I hope I got all of the points right, I know Speedy pretty well now! Cheers
Agree with Triumph speedmaster is the best bike in the world. .......❤❤❤❤❤❤ I love this bike....❤❤❤❤❤

Beautiful bike! I ride a Thruxton 900 but this bike has caught my eye. I would just need a tachometer. 😎👍
Thanks so much, they are beautiful aren't they 😁 A nice laid back cruiser style and so comfortable as well. There is a small digital tachometer below the analogue speedo 👍
Absolutely!!! Just my personal opinion as well. 👍🏽
👌👌
I had a 2005 Speedy that I loved. When I was ready to upgrade last year I couldn’t wait to try the new one. I felt like a giant sitting on it unfortunately. It’s beautiful without question but it just didn’t fit me as well as the T120 that I wound up getting
Thats a shame! Yes the new model definitely is built for the average to smaller gentleman/lady. I think that is part of what makes it look so good though. Hope you are enjoying your T120 👍
I really hope Triumph make a large/big capacity cruiser, to compete with the BMW R18 and Harley Heritage softtail!
@@redangrevival they did…my brother has a Thunderbird that’s a 16 or 1700cc. Nice bike, a bit heavy for my liking but I think they ended production recently
@@particleinthewave8378 O yes I remember that, great looking bike. I really hope they do another one!
Same with Kawasaki Vulcans. . ,
Does it need a shim valve adjustment? 🥴 I am at 15,000 and my next service isn't until 20k!

It rides as good as it looks 😁 I love the XV 750, such a classic looking cruiser. Love the rake of the handle bars and seating position, very cool bike 👍

👍 haha yes it does get bright in sunny weather! A strong pair of sunglasses would work well!
i do think it is...i just love it...
I respect that. It’s not perfect for everyone but sir is beautiful
I agree, but then, she's not *really* a cruiser ;^)
There is nothing else like the Speedmaster.
I’m sure you’re done answering any comments on this older post - I was wondering if that windscreen is Triumph - beautiful bike btw
It is an official Triumph accessory yes. Believe it is called the highway screen 👍
Thanks Alex,
Glad you liked the review.
I must get a new bag haha
I 100% agree for the next gen they should have the chrome clocks rather than black plastic ones! It would compliment the bike so much.
Not too sure! But it is the entrance to an estate called Orchardleigh in Somerset. Beautiful place. Cheers
Wish it had dual clocks. Like analog tach
Great video. I love the classic styling of the bike.
Can you please tell me the brand of the jacket you're wearing?
Thanks!
Many thanks Daniel 👍 I appreciate that and glad you enjoyed the video. Yes it is a "Merlin Chigwell Light", a great summer jacket. Cheers
Cheers
she's the most classfull of them all , beautiful ,
👌👌
Nicely filmed! Love the looks of the Triumph- I’ve a softail slim Harley which is very similar. I often feel like a kite on mine, does the seating etc on the Triumph give a similar workout? 👍🇬🇧
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video 👍 I have always admired the softail slim. It is a bit like that on the Speedmaster but the screen helps alot!
Rocket 3 is the Triumph more comparable to the R18. If you want a BMW to compare the Speedmaster to, get a hold of the new R12 as soon as your dealership hookup can manage it for you.
Just bought me 2023 speedmaster.
Best looking retro cruiser! Harley's are modern crusers.
Great videos .. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it 👍
I am looking at a 2016 Triumph Trophy se and a 2014 Honda Valkyrie. Have not decided on which one as I will be pulling a camper trailer.
That is an interesting point! No I haven't, but I agree, I can imagine it has lost some of the character with all of that euro 5 gubbins in the way!
You don't have to, however I would recommend it. Just to get the most out of the engine. It definiely runs smoother with a remap 👍
Very nice looking bike 🙏
Thanks 👌
It does look absolutely beautiful 👍🍻
👌Cheers!
Love your reviews thank you ....Would you recommend it for my first cruiser ?
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoy the videos 👍 I think the Speedmaster is great as a first cruiser. Not too big and heavy etc... Brilliant introduction to the cruiser world
I ride an ‘09 Thunderbird 1700. It’s a pity you don’t mention Thunderbird as Triumph’s heavy cruiser, a highway star!! Btw nice Speedmaster and beautiful English countryside!
👍 I have always loved the look of the Thunderbird, very cool. Many thanks I appreciate it.
Amazing looking bike and the bonneville 1200 engine is superb. Harley-schmarly, Triumph is more fun.
Ihave de catted the bike with a Montone x pipe.. thanks
Pretty bikes for sure!
👌 Cheers
Maybe I missed it, but did you mention what windshield you have? How tall are you, and does it work well?
It is the standard Highway screen. I am 5 foot 9 inches. It does create some buffeting, however I like it for longer journeys
So now we've got the Speedmaster with a low seat height and foot forward pegs, can we have the pegs on the BOBBER put back in the RIGHT POSITION, at the back of the frame, like most bikes.
A question for Triumph directly I think 👍
I’ve changed my forward pegs with the mid reach ones Fits perfect. Must be like the bobber.
What screen have you got on?
I have the official highway screen from Triumph 👍 It does create some buffering, but I like it
Hi!
Grate reviews. I am super excited just by the thought of buying the new speedmaster :D
Your looks amazing.
But I have a question. Where is that jacket from!? Or the brand of the jacket?
Thanks so much I appreciate that 👍 It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket
LOL ...what I meant was your conclusion was correct! I need glasses I think. :(
😂 all good, I read between the lines! Cheers
Where did you get the handlebar risers. I’m looking at this bike and find the bars a little too low. I asked the dealer about risers and they said they aren’t available so would be really interested to know where you go them. Great video!! 👍
Motone 1inch up and overs 👍 Thanks really glad you enjoyed the video
Hi there - enjoy watching your reviews, hoping you can help me. I recently bought a 1200 Speedmaster, having previousley had an 865, big difference between the 2. The 865 had some really good bar risers that brought the bars up and back. I have seen one of your vids where you say the make of the risers that you have on your 1200 but I cant find that video. Any chance you can let me know who made who you got the bar risers from? Thanks.
Hi, thanks really glad you enjoy the reviews 👍 Yes I got them from "Motone" 1 inch up and over bar risers
Haha enjoy and hope you got it covered up before she got back from work 👍
Hey @redangrevival ! Do you by chance know the top speed of the new Speedmasters??
Cheers and thanks,
Cole
Hi Cole,
I don't know for sure, but I would guess around 100mph
@redangrevival okay thanks very much and ride on 🥳
That jacket looks great! any link for it???
Thanks. Sorry no link! It is a Merlin Chigwell Light, great mesh summer jacket 👍
No I did not have any pain from them. That is unfortunate, I guess we are all different.
Perhaps the mini ape bars would be more comfortable for you
@@redangrevival Thank you. It’s the beach bars that I love most about the Speedmaster so I’m hoping I’ll simply get used to it and the pain stops. By the way do you still have Speedy?
@@paulyflyer8154 No probs. Yes I still have Speedy, she is tucked in storage for the moment as I am very busy working abroad
@redangrevival You lucky man. Stay there as long as possible it's biblical rain here for the foreseeable 😁
Definitely the prettiest cruiser available, way ahead of that ghastly R18
👌 Cheers, haha fair enough I take it the R18 isn’t your cup of tea! The Speedmaster takes the 👑
Also the Indian scout is a cool looking cruiser … would like to see a RedAng review of that and compare to Speedy
While I Love the Triumph I would like Your take on the Suzuki Boulevard 1200cc
It has caught my eye and it looks just great as if it can do it all even has a respectable size gas tank...
Let hear what U Think...
From Terry in Texas
Yes I would like to take the Suzuki for a ride. However if I was going off of looks the Speedmaster wins hands down!
hey mate, mind telling what's the name of the bag you have on you handlebar?
Its actually meant for bicycles! I got it from a shop called Halfords
That windshield, is it Triumph or after market? Easy to install, remove?
It is an official Triumph extra. I got the dealer to fit it
Okay thanks…. I take it that the windshield is not the easy detachable model. From what I’ve seen it looks fixed.
@@frankieu2598 it is fixed
Hey, could you please tell me what brand of boots you're wearing in this video? They look great. The jacket as well, if you'd be so kind. I'd be beyond grateful. Thanks!
Hi, yes the jacket is a Merlin Chigwell light, great mesh summer jacket. The boots are TCX X blend waterproof. Amazing boots 👌
@@redangrevival I appreciate your response greatly. Been on a hunt for good boots for a long while. Cheers!
If it's no bother ID on the gloves you use would also be of great convenience to me :)
@@romanschebek sorry I away from home atm! I can’t remember. I’ll let you know asap
@@redangrevival Thank you, take your time. I'll be waiting patiently.
Its all pretty subjective i rode with a guy on his speedmaster down to Belgium he loved his bike i loved my hammer never would we swap 👍
👍 You couldn't be more right! That is exactly what I always think, it really is just down to the individual and what you like to ride. Cheers
Super sympa bravo
Thanks so much I appreciate it 👍
Surprised only 130 mi...I thought at least 4 gal tank = 180 mi...
Yup it is regular topping up!
I've had both and the Speedy is the best one for me, I'm not tall and find it a comfortable high speed cruiser that is just right for me.
@@redangrevival I had the mid foot controls fitted and that puts an end to foot peg scraping.
Maybe if you aren’t tall. Big blokes look a bit daft on it.
Haha I agree!! It is smaller in dimensions to other cruisers, so definitely suits average to smaller sized people 👍
Can you hear me?
I took the front screen off within the first 20 miles. Too much buffeting. Saddlebags and the petrol tank are too small for Aussie roads. 45,000 ks later
Yes the tank is frustrating on long rides, and the bags! But still love it 👌
The speedmaster and triumph in general just oozes sophistication whereas Harleys are more about attitude and trying to be a badass.
Harleys just need to be more like £7000- £9000 instead of £20,000+
how does it fit tall guys 6' 2" ++?
Not great tbh, better for smaller guys
Nice bike but, I'll keep my T/bird.
👌 thanks. All good, we each have our own love!
Mr. Darcy sent me.
👍 Loved his recent video on the Speedmaster
💯👍👍👍
Nice bike but personally I would get rid of that ugly screen, spoils it.
How dare you, I love my highway screen 😂 Only joking! Fair enough each to their own in the looks department. I personally like the look of it and the wind protection on longer journeys is a massive plus. Cheers
