An idea for your Freddie Dobbs collaboration... Perhaps more of the same. Meet up with Freddie, filming your journey to him, then you all ride convoy to a lovely scenic location and have a chat about whatever is relevant at the time, over a nice meal.
The Old Man is highly entertaining, a unique blend of honesty and individuality, plus the father/son interaction is a great feature of the channel……keep it up chaps 🙂
That was a fun lunch. I like how you described the Bonnie as a "Jag" and "Waft." That really helps me understand the essence of the bike, and why it's twice as much as the Royal Enfield.
I'm a Freddie Dobbs fan myself. It would be great to see both channels get together for a ride somewhere iconic. I think I might live on the wrong side of the pond.
I thoroughly love everything you guys put out. So lovely to see father and son sharing such a passion about all things bikes. I sadly lost my dad in 2018 but he always spoke passionately about his 1960s BSA 650 Goldstar. Enjoy every moment together guys, I appreciate all the work you put into making these great videos and so look forward to the Freddie meet up. Like others have said, maybe a ride out to another nice pub, delicious lunch and some bike story swapping. Big love from the West Midlands.
The best motorbikes’ channel i’ve discovered in 2024. It’s a pleasure how you discuss the points of the motos in all your videos that i’ve seen. Congratulations from Spain
Indians love crazy colourful art on the vehicles they own. It is so bad that exterior modifications are officially banned by the government. It may seem over the top but is just cultural difference. Even then, the shotgun graphics don’t really appeal to the Indian market as shotgun was aimed at the US market. The vehicle is not suited for Indian conditions.
Yeah it's getting out of hand. It's funny the newly launched guerrilla series also spot this crappy colour tone/graphics.😂 These bikes would look a lot better with single tone paint jobs.
Naah we don’t like the paint jobs on the shotgun either. A simple clean looking colour scheme will make the bike look beautiful. The standard slate grey looks the best of the available choices. The green is ok as well.
A bike is such a personal thing, when I bought my V7 I loved it but I couldn't get on with the bike with a pillion on. I now ride a Speedmaster and the bike is amazing both single and pillion. Others may not agree but its what suits you not the bloke next to you.
I worked in marketing for a very long time and RE are very much making the same mistake that Austin Rover did in the late 1980's with the MG Metro. The car was selling well but in an attempt to widen its appeal to a younger driver, they changed the graphics and made 'pop art' of the MG logo. This weakened the integrity of the MG brand and arrogance with in Austin Rover's marketing department chose not to acknowledge this. The result was the axing of the MG Metro. RE are doing the same and effectively 'talking down' to potential buyers and making a joke of the brand image. They are doing much the same with the Hunter 350 too. The Shotgun is an amazing machine with a traditional classic air cooled engine and classic looks. By making 'cartoon art' of their badging they cheapen their name and their product. If instead they'd used old school RE Bullet badging, or similar you would have more instant respect for the bike you were looking at. I cannot believe that with all the resources and success that RE are enjoying that they are making such a fundamental mistake...
I get your points but the reason for the graphics is the upcoming bullet, classic 650. If they give this bike retro looks, they will end up having 2 bikes that don't have much difference going on. Thus they have gone with a sort of modern design & have advertised it as something which is a blank canvas for mods and changes.
The three of you need to do a camping trip in rural France with inadequate camping gear and no fixed itinerary. It would be hilarious and very popular albeit a challenging experience for the participants. Get big views for sure.
The all-grey Shotgun is very nice and understanded. If the forthcoming Classic 650 isn't to my taste, the grey 650 is very tempting. Then again, I'll only be burbling along on it like my 350.
Guys, I profoundly don't care about what you were eating and talking about... but I watched this clip thrice by now. This side of England is such a beautiful place, God bless you all.
I absolutely love the Speedmaster! It was my first bike when I started out riding. I traded it for a Lowrider ST, and I’ve missed owning a Triumph ever since. I’ll definitely purchase another Triumph in the future
For the money the Royal Enfield seems to be a very practical bargain. You can take a magnet to it all around and it will stick to the fenders and everywhere. It's built with real quality materials, and they could have used plastic like many manufactures. This company is giving you quality and real value in my opinion. 6/22/24.
A great bike review with wonderful British culture, country side, pubs and traditions. Thanks for representing and helping preserve this wonderful reality in the face of associated challenges to this beautiful way of life. The Speedmaster is pretty awesome.
Hi chaps. What I would love to see is you two, Freddie and maybe one other compare all the Royal enfield 650s together in one video. Now that would make a fantastic watch 😊
Love the direction! So many bike reviews focus on CC's. But a lot of us bikers are only about bikes. CC's are cool but the rider smiles for miles are more important. Not sure though if this was a fair comparison though, but a fun video!
@@MrDarcy-OlMan And you are right! For sure! Royal Enfield make Stella bikes for price and especially build quality! I daily ride a Super Meteor. I know it wasn't your cup of tea but for me it works for me and bang for buck, bloody awesome on build quality! I will not do touring on this bike, this bike is not up for it for me for distance. (Love the Stealth or would go black. ) The ShotGun... Love so much Bobber Looks!! Amazing But I felt Giant on it at 5'9. (Not that matters) Would still keep a Super Meteor for size. Just me ...
I like those episodes where is storytelling. Some landscapes, some intersting places to visit. You could also give some maps where are you riding in the episode
Yesterday, June 21, the temperature here in the Arizona mountains was 35 degrees C. Down in Phoenix it was over 40 degrees C earlier this week. I wouldn't mind a 13 degree day every now and then.
It’s about 15 degrees here sun but the frost this morning was -1 now specs only tell you a certain aspect about the bike and to be honest I gone and purchased it on that only to find out 3-4 months later it’s not really what I wanted. I feel like it can take a few months living with the bike and getting over the honeymoon period and then actually doing the things that you normally do. I been renting bikes for a few months, I swapped out bikes with friends and everything in between to discover that fact. I rode the Honda CRF 300 Rally and the standard L and came away with I like it never would have picked it. I started with what I wanted first what I plan on doing and going and essentially did it backwards. I removed the bike specific criteria. A big difference.
What a brilliant video on two excellent bikes. I'm just getting into editing my own motorbike videos, a steep learning curve to say the least! I'm seriously considering a Royal Enfield Shotgun to sit alongside my 2021 Yamaha Tracer and 1990 CBR 600. Each time I watch a review on the Enfield it convinces me a little more. More building work in the garden to make room for another shed I think....
Open lids have there place, especially on a hot day stuck in traffic etc. I used to wear one on my Street Bob, but one day when slowing down for a large roundabout on a dual carriageway, a wasp hit my lid and got stuck in the lining grove where my sunglasses arms would go. I had to negotiate the roundabout and carry on while the sod keeping stinging me, until I could stop at a layby and rip my helmet off. Don`t know how many times he stung me but he went for it. Then having to put my lid back on a drive another thirty odd miles to get home. It was so painful. Little bastard...That was the last time I wore one.
From the past one year i have been watching your videos and have been really enjoying. The way you guys describe a bike..makes it sound very personal rather than limiting it to specs, top speed etc. I have a question for you guys, i already own a classic 350, would you recommend trading up to shotgun 650 or should i stay with the classic?
I enjoyed this video with the back and forth between you. The nice thing about Freddie's videos is that he tells a story. It's 30% bike review but mostly a story, a ride along. You guys should make and adventure out of it and the bikes pros and cons will be apparent. If you want a direction for your channel, the old Top Gear is a perfect model. A story, adventure, using the cars but always having some fun with familiar characters and show segments. An example might be a challenge, like comparing two bikes on a ride to Morocco. Which one breaks down or uses the most fuel?
Having owned a 1200 Speedmaster and a Royal Enfield 650 I would say the Triumph is worth the extra cost and the Royal Enfield is a bargain. I did remove the catalytic converter on the Triumph which turned up the volume of that sweet sounding exhaust. The ONLY thing I didn’t like was the traction control. My friends pulled off the road and up a small dirt hill. I was stuck at the bottom. Today I was out on my V7 Stone on a dirt road. At least I remembered how to turn off the traction control! I look forward to your collaboration with Freddie.
My compliments, lovely video, beautiful bikes, and so nice and refreshing to see other people on the road behaving with care and respect. On the levantine roads, we don't get much notice, any car from behind has to cling to the back wheel, nobody ever gives right of way, and, more or less, everybody is trying to kill you. Crash or die, but no turn indicators will ever be used. And the heat. Summer started mid April, and it will be hot as hell, but more humid, until mid November. Day and night. I wish the British empire would come back, bringing the weather with them.
What if there was a Freddie dobbs and MD + Old man road trip from the new forest to the Cornish coast, stopping off at godrevy light house and the little cafe that isn’t to far away for a traditional breakfast 👌
I was in a local Royal Enfield dealer the other day and I was looking at the Shotguns. The plain grey without any highlights surprised me as to how good the colour looked in the flesh. On another note I've put a deposit on a 350 classic black with only 360 miles on for £3399. The dealer had only just put it online the evening before. When I paid the deposit he said he wished he put it up for a higher price now!!
I recognised the pub straight away, I’ve only been in there twice but ridden past many times. If you haven’t already try the Uppingham to Harborough road B664 (which is part of the Rutland TT route), it’s spectacular riding down the hill from Uppingham to Stockerston and from the top of the hill as you ride down into Medbourne where there is another old pub.
Hi Chaps, great to see you together in the same video again. An idea for you and Freddie would be for each of you to ride your favourite/dream bikes on a road trip together for a couple of days and go east west so Norfolk to Wales with some iconic spots along the way . I could see Freddie on a Triumph or Harley, Darcy on a Guzzi and the Ol’ Man maybe a Harley too.
I have to put my hand up and say I like the graphics on all of the Shotguns. They all look really different and special and cool. The yellow highlights look sweet. And I'm 65. Thank god they did it and I'm a bit over the hurrumphing old fart comments I've seen all over YT. They don't look "tacky"" and if you want the old school RE has those in spades as well. And get over the off centre stuff. Jeez. Also funky and cool. :)
Another great video, gents! I love the lifestyle approach to your vids and it'd be great to see you two and Freddy Dobbs riding together to a pub to sit around and talk bikes. After all, isn't that what most of us do? Your approach is so accessible; its great hearing you chew the fat about bikes most of which I will never own or ride. Then again, who knows...?
I loved that video. A ride with a lunchtime chat. Brilliant. I prefer symmetry myself, which is one of the many reasons I love my T120. Split down the middle there's one cylinder and one pipe on rach side. The only bike I would consider replacing my Bonnie with is the Speedmaster, although there are a few bikes I would like to have in addition to it.
Great video, I rode there the other week , nice pub . With the helmets, the one Darcy has on is the best of both worlds , I have the Torc T1 in the retro cream with yellow and brown trim , looks great , fantastic quality 🏍️🏍️🏍️
Had a lovely ride around the chater valley today! There was a time I favoured an open face helmet, but also had the fly in ear problem on more than one occasion, it's like a form of torture, occasioning a quick stop. Off with the helmet to remove the offending beastie. Full face now for me. Oh and Darcy watch out for that Will Scrape, he is not a nice character. Good work again guys, keep em coming. Thanks.
I agree about the graphics on the RE. The bike itself looks and sounds great, but those graphics are a little off. And of course the Triumph is a Triumph, not much to criticize. That two-tone paint looks good. Also, congrats on finishing the move to Rutland!
Welcome back Ol'Man, lovely to see you back. I was thinking you were fluent in Spanish and working on a tan. I would love to ourchase a set of goggles like the ones you rode with today, they are awesome. Cheers!
Another entertaining video …couldn’t have parked mine on gravel like you did. Lol - typed my comment and then your bike nearly fell over 😂 Please make sure your camera is level …unless the pub does lean over to the right 😊
Nice vid. Interesting to see the comparison. Having had a Speedmaster for a couple of years now I love it, but it has it's faults. I was hoping the Shotgun/Meteor 650 would address those and it would be just as good in other ways, but, for me, it's just not. I think the Shotgun/Meteor 650s are excellent and great value, but the Speedmaster is a class above. More characterful and capable. Though you sure pay for that difference. Much like the Triumph 400s vs RE 350s, given the differences in the bikes and the prices I don't think they really compete/compare (though certainly, like me, some will want to see for themselves). For those wondering about my gripes with my beloved Speedmaster: Fuel range (small tank, big engine), suspension (short travel bottoming out) and need for a lot of clutch work (1200cc torque/power). I wish they did a Speedmaster with the T100's engine, gearing and suspension. I think only that would get me off my Speedy. Come to think of it... I might try a T100 sometime and see how I feel...
Great to see both of you together again, and a Dobbs-ish direction of the channel sounds lovely. I have a quick question, which brand is the eggshell colored helmet at 13:09?
I completely agree with the graphics on the Shotgun. It looks somewhat off in a way. Would be way nicer in a solid colour like red or orange maybe. To be fair I'm just waiting for the Classic 650.
Great vid guys love the style . I have a Speedmaster 2023 and love it. Agree with comments on Speedo, would look better with the twin dials. I bought this bike after watching the old man’s and Freddie’s previous reviews on it. ( could also do with longer guard on front wheel) . Thanks for all you do. Keep em coming !
Speedmasters are classic looking bikes, I remember test driving a 22, it almost felt like riding a modern version of the HD 36 knucklehead, it had a large clear windshield. Takes a minute to adjust to the hand position on the beach bars, again the best part of it is Triumph's HT 1200cc twin. Superb engine and crazy how the same platform is tuned differently for the T120, Speed Twin and Speedmaster.
For your Freddie collaboration he's a Harley fan so the three of you should do a Harley road trip around Norfolk visiting numerous cafes and eateries ,talking bikes, life and generally enjoying yourselves.
Love the idea of comparing different types of bikes. I’m thinking of buying bike number 4, got a Victory Cross Roads and Yamaha FZ750 that I will never sell. Looking at a Royal Enfield GT or Harley Street Bob for around town commute. My other bike is a Victory Vegas which is in the USA, I ride it once a year for about 8 days, just about to go over to get out of the Australian winter.
Great Vlog , I agree with your comment on the Classic 650, if it looks just like the 350 it'll be excellent, it's what I'm waiting to see! Cheers Mel 🍻
Totally agree on the cheap dial which I have on my Street Twin. If I’m paying all that more money to upgrade I don’t want to be staring at the same cheap dial. IMO they should put the T120 clocks on it.
Nice video. Both of these bikes have the ‘Fun Factor’ for me, although I wouldn’t have compared them because of the engine size difference. I’m downsizing from my Goldwing soon, my T120 replaced an Africa Twin I owned, not sure what I will get to fill the second spot in my garage yet.
I agree with the colour options on the shotgun there to modern for the brand imo, although I understand that a brand can't stay in the past and must be creative etc.., the triumph is amazing my favourite model in there line up, but at 13k with the British weather are you getting the value for money as let's be honest it will probably be sat in the garage for a great deal of the year😢. Anyhoo love what you lads are doing channel wise, kee wafting ❤
This is the first video I've seen of the Speedmaster that made me actually like the styling of that bike. Maybe it's the color or hearing how good it sounds, I dunno but now I want one! July 16th needs to hurry,I'm eager to see that new Guerrilla 450
I think a tour with Freddie to France, or up North to Scotland during this nice weather. Maybe a multi day trip with multiple bikes that you all swap between to give your personal perspectives on.
I have a feeling the new Royal Enfield bike will be the Guerilla 450/Hunter 450 whatever they end up calling it. It's basically a Hunter 350 type roadster with the new 450cc liquid cooled Sherpa engine (in the new Himalayan) in it. Supposedly there is a "Scrambler" variant and a standard variant, the former being probably a little more offroady. This release will be similar to the Triumph Speed 400 and 400X Scrambler bikes methinks.
the old man reminds me of my grandmother....she'd wait to talk until she had her mouth stuffed full of food and then start a conversation. unfortunately, she has long since passed on.. thanks for the memories. 🙃
Regarding the Freddie Dobbs collab, I'd love to explore the perspective of 3 different generations of bikers on what it means to be a biker. Especially with Monika's delicate and elegant editing it could turn out quite cinematic. The ol' badass, the romantic nostalgic and the young gentleman. I'm sure it'll come out quite cool
Freddie and the ol man both have an affinity for Spain and now you have an invite from Royal Enfield. Why don't the three of you show us what you love about riding in Spain? I am glad you pair are sizable gentlemen as I am of similar proportions so when I see you on bikes I can judge what they would look like under me. I have to say you made todays bikes look pretty toyish. I kept thinking £13k for a toy? I don't think so. I think with those standard exhausts they both sound like sewing machines and when the Harley arrived the difference was Stark. Love your work.
That Speedmaster looks crazy and it sounds amazing, indeed! Also those "only" 78Hp are plenty enough, as reference, my ex XVS1300 which wasn't a sport bike, but still quite zippy for a 72...ish HP cruiser!
I’m assuming you shot this on Friday as I thought you passed me as I came out of Harley Uppingham after picking up my street Bob. Mr Darcy’s helmet is very distinctive
I had a Speedmaster for a couple of years...I fitted a screen which helped with wind-blast....but, at 70 I still found my hands slipping off the bars a bit.....also, after an all day ride, my lower back used to ache ....plus it was a bit too heavy for a 73 year old....
Definitely like this style of video. The videos with spec dumps don't interest me much. Like Freddie's vids, it's the lifestyle and exploration vids that I gravitate towards. If you do team up for a vid it'd be cool to see a mini tour (even a day trip) with some nice roads and lunch stops. Tbh, it's how I get an idea of different places I want to visit.
An idea for your Freddie Dobbs collaboration... Perhaps more of the same. Meet up with Freddie, filming your journey to him, then you all ride convoy to a lovely scenic location and have a chat about whatever is relevant at the time, over a nice meal.

Definitely prefer this format, don’t change. Great video lads!
These latest Videos with you both are really great, fantastic Job!
I'm a bit undecided about a super meteor or a speed master for my first bike. I'm enjoying what you are doing on the channel these days, thanks.
Enjoy your Classic 350 when it arrives 👍🏼
Cheers I'm sure I will. Especially as summer has arrived at last
I recognised the pub straight away, I’ve only been in there twice but ridden past many times.
any bike with a single seat is beautiful
Agreed, about reading the spec sheet 👍🏻
I really enjoy your work. Nice to see you working together. For me, you two make a sort of "motorcycle-humanism"...
You guys make those bikes look like mopeds!!!!
You people are such a cool guys on boots
Thanks.
Like the loooks of the Speedmaster. That 1200 engine is wonderful in the SpeedTwin.
I agree about the graphics on the RE. The bike itself looks and sounds great, but those graphics are a little off. And of course the Triumph is a Triumph, not much to criticize. That two-tone paint looks good. Also, congrats on finishing the move to Rutland!
Great video gents! The seat spoils the Triumph imho. Shotgun is brilliant.
Welcome back Ol'Man, lovely to see you back. I was thinking you were fluent in Spanish and working on a tan.
I would love to ourchase a set of goggles like the ones you rode with today, they are awesome. Cheers!
Thank you it is great to be back 😊
The goggles are made by Halcyon 👍🏼
How about you guys and Freddie in the Missenden Flyer's aircraft racing Allen Millyard on the Flying Millyard to The Doghouse (Craig Jones)?
Another entertaining video …couldn’t have parked mine on gravel like you did.
Lol - typed my comment and then your bike nearly fell over 😂
Please make sure your camera is level …unless the pub does lean over to the right 😊
You guys can do a long tour together that covers different types of roads in multiple terrains. Camping in the mountains and more.
Great to see both of you together again, and a Dobbs-ish direction of the channel sounds lovely. I have a quick question, which brand is the eggshell colored helmet at 13:09?
Thank you 😊
This is an XL Moto helmet, just click the link in the video description and search Stormer helmet 👍🏼
@@MrDarcy-OlMan awesome, thank you very much!
Great to hear, many thanks 😊
Yeah fine, I agree with the view of the 650 graphics. The green and black I think are the best. The 650 shotgun I think really amazing for the price.
Nice direction for the channel, keep it real not too exclusive and have fun!
Had a great ride out with Royal Enfield / Poole Moto - amazing selection of RE models
That Shotgun 650 is a really nice classic design, but I just can't get past the graphics that look like a banner for a sports drink.
Brilliant.... What a double act you are, absolutely hilarious together. Well done so entertaining 👌👍😎
Thanks buddy 👍🏼
Great Vlog , I agree with your comment on the Classic 650, if it looks just like the 350 it'll be excellent, it's what I'm waiting to see!
Cheers Mel 🍻
Nice vídeo!!!.Regards from Florianópolis - Brazil. hope shogtgun arrive soon here!
Great video guys, I like your style and the twin bike review/ride outs work really well! Your ahead of the game I would say 👍🏻🏍️
Love the bikes and the pub. Great review, i would love to see more content like this.
I think a tour with Freddie to France, or up North to Scotland during this nice weather. Maybe a multi day trip with multiple bikes that you all swap between to give your personal perspectives on.
I've not ridden the Shotgun but I think it looks great. The issue I have with it is that you can get a V7 for about £1k more
I have a feeling the new Royal Enfield bike will be the Guerilla 450/Hunter 450 whatever they end up calling it.
Yes we were in the area 👍🏼
I had a Speedmaster for a couple of years...I fitted a screen which helped with wind-blast....but, at 70 I still found my hands slipping off the bars a bit.....also, after an all day ride, my lower back used to ache ....plus it was a bit too heavy for a 73 year old....
Love you two and Freddie! Cheers
I suggest a camping week-end with Freddie incorporating a visit to the Avro Museum
