- Createschool proudly presents "Freedom - A 1916 Story". This 10 & 1/2 minute stop motion film tells a story of the Easter Rising in Dublin in 1916. Commissioned by Wicklow County Council as part of their 1916 : 2016 Commemoration programme. Historian Pat Liddy was on hand to ensure historical accuracy and also lent his voice to the main character. Renowned singer songwriter Leslie Dowdall helped write a song for the film - "Time To Be' that features on the opening credits.
The film was 9 months in production, features customised LEGO characters & specially created "Proclamations".

This history is great but the history I've learned in school didn't even reached civillwar story it's boring but when I watched this video I think I shall learn about ww1-2 history.

I absolutely LOVED this short little film, however, and I hate to be the American sitting here fact checking a lego stop motion but I feel its sort of necessary, not all of the rebel leaders were executed. Eamon De Valera was spared after Connolly's execution and he then went on to lead the Sinn fein and the Dail Eireann for a number of decades. I feel like that could have been said after the grandson asked "So they did all that for nothing?". But anyway, love, love, LOVED this little film, and hope there are more like it on the way.
Hi Rob. Thanks for your comment and glad you enjoyed the film. Our brief was that we would focus on the seven signatories of the Proclamation, therefore we chose to not include Éamon De Valera on this basis. Hope that addresses your issue.

1:55 Steel helmets werent used in 1914. They were used in 1916, Leather caps were used.

there is a netflix documentary on the murals of Ireland based on ira vs uvf conflicts, narrated by Vince Vaughn. I know it's not what you were thinking of but its surprisingly entertaining.
