    What did you think of Jaws of the Lion? Did you prefer JotL or the original Gloomhaven?

    This is my first legacy style coop campaign board game, and wow! What a fantastic tutorial to get us up and running, the combat puzzles are fun requiring teamwork and strategy, and love the character progression. Simply amazing game, and such great value for the price. Currently on the 9th scenario playing with another newbie friend and we are loving every minute! Will say gloomhaven helper app is really fantastic not having to manage enemy health pools and card flips.

      That's awesome that you've been able to dive into this game and the Gloomhaven world at large! It's definitely an addicting and great game, especially with friends!

    I have gloomhaven and jaws of the lion. My biggest complaint of gloomhaven is setting it up. And too many rules to remember. This game explained the rules in 5 missions and has the book for map tiles. Totally worth it and reccomend it. And places like target sell it. Just fantastic.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад

      Yeah, I hope having it in Target will make more people take a chance on it. So much easier than Gloomhaven to get into.

      Yeah don't let my comments about the end of the campaign mislead you, it's still worth playing through to the end.

    Awesome review, haven’t played the OG gloomhaven but I ran out and picked up a copy of JOTL myself

      Thanks, Tom! You really can't go wrong with this. Even if you do what I did (play through the campaign once solo and then sell it), it's totally worth the $10-15. Think of it as a rental fee. It'll be easy enough to get rid of on the second-hand market if you don't want to keep it and play it again. Hope you enjoy it! And if you do play it solo, check out the guide I put together for the Demolitionist and Hatchet.

    wonderful game, just started my first campaign and currently on scenario 3, we have 6 players so I'm "playing" as the enemies and we have a sub so players can take longer breaks and the campaign can still continue if someone can't make it. absolutely loving it, hope we can play through all of it!

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  Год назад

      Oh wow, sounds like you're having a very different experience than me (playing with 6 compared to solo) but sounds like fun! Glad you're enjoying it, it's a really good game.

    I'm always a bit behind on games because it's easier for me after the price drops. I'm really excited about enjoying this game as a solo experience and 25 bucks for this really worked for me. I'm assuming this takes up a lot less table top space than Gloomhaven...
    ? I really sort of wish all games told how much space is needed. Example...Tiny Epic Dungeons IMO takes up more space than Legend of Drizzt.....

      25 dollars for Jaws of the Lion is INSANE value!

    Great video, I was always intrigued by Gloomhaven as it has been the #1 on BGG since I got into the hobby. But it always felt too daunting (not to mention the price). I always thought this was an expansion 😜
    What's that blue box next to Gloomhaven on your shelf?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  2 года назад +1

      Thanks! Jaws of the Lion is its own game and that built-in tutorial definitely makes it easier to jump in.
      And the games and shelves behind me in the video aren't mine, we do all our filming at Dylann's place (he's my cousin who I co-run the channel with) so those are all his games. But if you're asking about that one on the top shelf on the right, that's Tidal Blades, which Dylann actually just spoke about in a recent video about his criminally underplayed games.

    Is it true a 2 player count is bad with voidearden?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  Год назад

      I'm not sure, I only played with the Demolitionist and Hatchet, I never tried the Voidwarden. Sorry, wish I could be more helpful!

  • @spiozke

    Oh, really? If I play solo, I play with 2 characters? So I look through all the cards these characters have? Isn't it too overwhelming?

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад

      It helps to look through all your class cards before playing to get used to what they do, and the tutorial scenarios ease you into the cards gradually. And because you're not making the game take longer for other players, I never felt overwhelmed, I just took my time making my decisions, but others might feel differently about that.

    I bought jotl in preparation to play Frosthaven, witch I backed. But after approx 10 scenarios I stoped playing. The AI is very bad and stupid. sometime the monsters heal when they are already at full health. they just move towards you and attack if able. that's it.
    Now im not so much excited about frost haven anymore.

    • @AllYouCanBoard
      @AllYouCanBoard  3 года назад +4

      That's a shame you had that experience with it. I had some issues with AI in the original Gloomhaven but I felt they improved it significantly here, and having the enemy draw a heal card is similar to when a player sometimes has an ineffective turn. Just like players cycle cards and sometimes you rest, or after your teammates wipe out a room your attack card might suddenly be useless late in the round, monsters can sometimes be ineffective too and I think that's fine but I understand why some people wouldn't like that.
      Either way, still worth checking out the Frosthaven rulebook before you lose your excitement completely, maybe the AI will be even better.

      Well it is a board game after all... There's no computer to run the "AI"
