There are a few scenarios Hatchet absolutely can dominate in main gloomhaven. Some with the Favorite vs bosses, and others by that broken movement combo. Loved the unique mechanic of the Favorite. Made what I thought was going to be a basic ranged character much more contemplative. If you don’t pay attention and lose track of the Favorite, your damage output really falls off sharply.

100%!! That was one of the main points I wanted to convey! Favorite management and really planning what you do so that you can effectively pick it up in the flow of the scenario is so critical. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!

Thanks for the great content, my boyfriend and I started playing JotL last month and we found a new copy of Gloomhaven so we’ll be starting that as soon as we finish. I started off as Voidwaren but was struggling in our two-person campaign to be very effective so I switched to Hatchet and I’m liking what I’m seeing from this one. It’s a lot easier for me to be able to attack enemies and not rely on being close to his character now.

Love your videos explaining the cards. I’m a beginner and have struggled. My only recommendation for future videos is to make the cards a little bigger on the screen so they’re more readable. 🙂

I’ve really been enjoying your videos. In my opinion, these character guides are the best out there. I love the combos you share in order to get the most out of the classes and your tips/descriptions of all the individual cards. The time/expertise you use to make these really shows! Also you have a great speaking voice for this as well. My enjoyment of the game has been upped 10X. Wish I could have you in my game group!! We would crush!

Thanks for the great content. I am a gloomhaven player in TTS but we recently figured out how to get the JOTL classes to work on the platform. Your video is good timing as I'm considering the Hatchet as my next character. Also considering a Voidwarden.

Awesome, hope the guide helps you to decide, and thanks so much for commenting! Hatchet is great but just remember you want to plan your turns to kill and then pick up the Favorite. If you do that he's really good. If you haven't already please subscribe, I have more content coming out all the time!!

I find excessive force more useful than Brutalize (level 7 cards). Unless you're fighting a boss, most things are dead the same turn I throw the favorite at it. If not, it's just about dead, and six damage isn't really doing much. The bottom of "The New Favorite" helps generate wind for it. With Hatchets strong mod deck (especially if you happen to have advantage), excessive force is really good. Two attacks in one turn can do incredible damage. If you think about it, paired with another top, it already matches Brutalize.

One thing i think would perfect your guide is if you posted a decklist of the cards you use for every level.....i have read some other guides who do it but i agree more with your comments on cards so i would like to see your ideas about a deck for each level

I've thought about it but don't really like doing that unless I put out a vid on a specific build(I have one for the Spellweaver and the Mind Thief, if you want to go check them out). I find that those types of recommendations are a bit too limiting and my goal in this type of vid is to talk more about how the class works and what synergizes well!

@@neuralnetgames6540 i cannot disagree with your way of thinking...but for new players to Gloomhaven like me it would help a lot to do something like i suggested...unfortunately i only have Jaws of the Lion and not the original Gloomhaven so it is pointless to see your videon on characters of original Gloomhaven

    Spoiler warning for lvl. 5:
Lot of people say that the Hatchet lvl. 5 card is quite underwhelming but actually it is pretty reasonable to run both favorite cards to amend that. You keep your original one for the top and use the new one for the bottom. Adding wound and push to the original ability does not do much in my eyes either but being able to attack, immobilize, move away and generate wind constantly is the true winner for me. Plus you have the option the get back your axe in those very niche situations. ^.^'

  • @TheMexicanSuperman1

So I made the mistake of choosing Ricochet at Level 2. I just recently reached Level 5 and I'm underwhelmed by the new favorite. Isn't it possible to pick a previous level card? If so, I'm torn between Ripped From The Flesh and Repeat Shot. I really like the use of ripped from the flesh as well as the initiative. What are your thoughts?

    • @neuralnetgames6540
      @neuralnetgames6540  3 года назад +1

Yep for sure you can go back and pick any other lower level card!! i think I'd probably go Ripped from the Flesh as it's almost always worth 3+ dmg with the wound and it's unblockable, and you can loot, getting money tokens and you get your favorite back for your next attack. Thanks for watching and commenting!

Hi, i got an Question about The Favorite and Retrieval. When i get the experience Points of the Favorite: every time i throw it ( + 3 range Attack) or every time i recover the token. And are the experience Points a single effect or can i count it the whole Mission every time i place the token?
Second Question is about the Retrieval, must i kill the Monster with the ability to get my token back or is it enough to do damage and the Monster go on living?

@@neuralnetgames6540 but also a simple note, you will always be within range of that heal/bless even if the allies aren't. I don't disagree with you evaluation, but I saw a guide taking heart seeker, as the top has the stun/wound combo (despite being underwhelming for level 9) and for a way to self stack blesses going into boss fights (despite being not the most reliable way to do so). Just my 2 cents
