Fred can literally do it all! I thought this guy was already talented and absolutely hilarious, but there is so much more to him and this video proves it. Keep doin' your thing Fred and we know for fact that anything you pursue in will be great!
Fred Armisen is amazing - loved his comedy and finding out he could play a range of instruments was a 'nice detail' - but what I didn't realise was the pain music brought him and I think you can hear that melancholia / loss in this video. The idea of a young Fred Armisen being in a 90s punk rock band, waiting for their breakthrough that never came to the point he couldn't enjoy/listen to music anymore... and having to make the choice to let it go. Going through all of that and becoming a success in a different area and maintaining a sense of positivity is really inspiring.
This is AWESOME!!!! The Clash THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS!!!! ✊❤️❤️✊ We love and miss you Joe!!! RIP JOE!! 😢❤️❤️😢 WELL DONE FRED!! ✊❤️❤️✊ Just like Fred’s shirt says in the opening of SNL...”Thank You Joe Strummer!”
My mantra song, every morning ,every night ,whole day uplifting my spirit ,start my day with good vibes full of energy, its like medicine to my soul,, I simply love it, thank you so much.Love the CLASH😍 👍😎
Yooooo … i am just seeing this , AND AND , the 100th time as well. He is my DUDE ! Fred Rubbish , mate !!! GOTTA grab J.Thunders LP jr. and bust some Dolls licks just from hearing a couple secs. of ANY of it !!!!
I visited other music once a looong time ago. It was a very nice experience. I bought joia by Caetano veloso. Great disc five out of five stars. And probably the most other music piece I could have purchased that day. Nice job here by Fred.
This is the great thing about loop pedals. You don't need people to jam with anymore you can just do it all yourself. Also Fred Armisen is a good musician.
This isnt sampling Doof. He's Actually looping music, which u can't do. SInce u think this is "sampling" lmao 😂 Learn music terms before u ever Comment Again💯
@@bettyvermont9352 What a rude, ungracious, unwarranted response. If you think you know it all,, you are sadly mistaken. Why not be kind instead? Very nicely done cover job here. My roommate used that stick bass back in the 80s in a Boston band called Arthur Slick. Would have loved to see the Clash live but it's too late now. I got to see the Ramones though. Great music will endure. The Equals should have gotten much more success than they did. Awesome looping cover!!!
yeah well, i never even heard the Clash version, only the Equals, and 'police on my back' is not as good as their other songs, like 'hold me closer' and 'baby come back' and 'ooh that kiss.' but this is blowing my mind. honestly? this sounds like if UNREST covered it. i am MESMERIZED. fkin great!
When all your Punk Rock Friends left your Band and settled down for Job and Family Life.
Yeah but you get to be on SNL this way, so who's the real winner here?
The friends got layed off and divorced. You just wrote a new song

Simon Keel he was and still is a drummer.
@@clydeg4274 I'm a drummer and can't use my line 6, or my boss shit to loop so we'll. He's a musician.

"Pretty awesome "?
Just FUCKING AWESOME
Ian Rubbish, his punk character on SNL, is the best Joe Strummer impersonation I have ever heard. This guy is SO talented!
Ian Rubbish is like Joe Strummer, Johnny Rotten and Mick Jones all rolled into one. His character is like an homage disguised as a parody.
@@kevinkibble8342I think the word is pastiche!

Impressed ..New fan of Fred Armisen..I really did throw away my TV for decades.
So much talent and he makes it look so easy
This guy is everything that my timing isn't! Bravo man!!! Inspiring!
This is worthy of a double thumbs up!!!
I second that
its not about playing fancy solos. This is real creative and melodic music. I can see a lot of new order influence. This is really great. Cool guy.
I think New Order was heavily influenced by the Clash. Fortunate enough to have seen both bands a few times live.
This Is A The Clash Cover
@@wiltorres9318 the clash covered it from THE EQUALS. (EDDY GRANT sang that song with them).
Is it weird I get a little emotional watching this video? Just in total awe watching him!
Amazing! Brings Back memories... Cops everywhere these days... Stay safe People.
This is an Equals song! The Clash covered it.
I love Fred he's the man
I’m learning to play guitar and my favorite band is the clash so I wanted to see someone play this song and found Fred armisen awesome
This is what "Star Power" looks like, great job FRED!
This might be the best thing I've ever seen and heard.
his greatest trick is not making a joke about how awkward it is waiting for a loop-musician to add more layers
My goodness that soft, strong and beautiful voice. I could watch and listen to you over and over.♾
This is so awesome to see the song idea come together one section at a time
Police On My Back resonates now more than ever.
One of the most influential bands ever, the Equals.

Look up Fred's band that he was in in the 90's they were called Trenchmouth
They were gonna be Fugazi sized for a little bit and then hey we’re gonna get RHCP sized.

Most of you don't realize that the Clash covered this from the Equals which is still the best version. Eddy Grant was in the group..
I did not realize that, thanks. The Clash covered the Bobby Fuller Four song, I Fought the Law, but I think The Clash improved on the original.
