Why does your guitar only have four strings?
The cymbal joke needed a punchline.
"I'd like to sample a Zildjian '79, please."
lol, true. Drummers test their cymbals as if they were sipping wine.
"So that was one joke" was the punchline
Or you could literally just sample it. Computer drums! Who needs a real drummer?
Ballin Hamster He didn’t have a punchline related to the joke, he had a punchline related to the fact that people didn’t get the joke. If he had included that people would probably have laughed at the joke
This is gold. I hope he reads this and realizes the missed opportunity
I can really relate to the wingnut falling off the cymbal thing
That sounded like a Jim Croce song he played at the end called "Which way are you going?"
These jokes have the feel of “you had to be there” jokes. They definitely don’t play out of context, to a general audience.
I caught a zubat on that mans head during the peak of pokemon go. what a time to be alive!
People wanting to help unload seem to always place the drum containers on the drum riser. Yes - that little 4x5 (if lucky) raised platform. Now the drummer must move everything from the platform before he can unpack and set up his kit.

I actually really enjoyed his Netflix special. It was a fresh take on the traditional stand up. Really quirky and funny. Jokes targeting a specific audience. That's a cool idea.
Agreed. I loved standup as a teen, early 20's but once you've seen enough of it, it becomes predictable. Standup for Drummers was one of the most outside-the-box things you'll ever see in the format and Armisen is funny in everything he's in. I was expecting it to get great reviews, but the special got modest critical reviews and low audience ones. I'm guessing bc so many people just stumbled across it on netflix, but don't have no that much about the quirks of the band scene or musician issues they couldn't relate.

Fred Armisen is a niche type of comedian; like very specific, narrow niche type
Yeah, because making music is such a niche thing to do. Practically no one on planet Earth does it because it's so specific and niche.
All jokes aside, saying "It's for a very specific audience, you wouldn't understand" is a very bad excuse for the jokes not being funny
ie, a lot of his jokes aren’t really funny. and i do actually love Portlandia btw.
So niche it isn't funny in any way. People just pretend they like it so they seem smart.

I mean, this is troll comedy. People think the jokes are supposed to be the funny part when it's people taking the bait and getting visibly and audibly upset at something as trivial as not understanding where the joke is. These jokes basically need the comment section, and I'm in tears after scrolling down.
@Matthew M It's funny because it's funny. Go read your newspaper jokes, old man.
@Matthew M It's like a Norm Macdonald style of comedy, the jokes are trivial, or lame, but it's that very fact that they're so lame, that makes them funny, and Norm's style of comedy is no where near Hipstery. So as @Bonefish said, read your newspaper jokes old man.
@Matthew M That example of modern art you used works in the same way as these jokes. The main point of that art movement in general, is to make you question what art even is. It's successful *because* it's unsuccessful. It's meant to subvert expectations and make you look at things in a different way. The fact that you don't get these jokes is the point. I actually am a musician, I play the drums and the guitar, and I didn't find the jokes themselves funny either. I found the lack of humour funny. You're not supposed to laugh at the jokes, you're supposed to laugh at how you didn't laugh at them.
If you didn't find that funny, then fair enough, but don't act like you're the arbiter of comedy. This style of humour isn't for everyone obviously (it's for drummers), just like how every style of anything isn't for everyone. Style and taste are subjective. Though it certainly helps you to enjoy a style when you actually understand it.

An alive Andy Kaufman would love it more.
That was funny.
1:48 Conan 100% thinks of a dirty joke after saying "you're making three people happy" but is like 'nah maybe dont say that one' hahahaha
Fred: *whips out a guitar*
James Wormworth: "Am I a joke to you?"
That last part about lead vocalist going "on a rant" is actually true for Opeth, when Akerfeldt starts to talk.. haha
I think he was talking about Bono and The Edge.
I play drums but these jokes suck.
Classic Armisen, so much talent, but absolutely no humor. I'm a drummer and a guitar player so I was expecting so much, but didn't laugh once
"NO GIMME JINGLE BELLS" is what I tell at carolers outside my house
4:09 When Conan has to come in with a fake laugh to not be rude.
No, he's actually just watching the monitor since Fred has his back to him. There is a a small delay so his reaction is delayed too.
that was the best impression of a guitar player that has to stop playing ive ever seen
Love his humor a lot.
That’s was painfully unfunny. Like cringe “relatable” boomer cringe
I’m a drummer and this was so true but not so funny😭
His parody drum teacher video is pretty good. The straight jokes, not so much.
Oh Yeah Yeah
Adixen oh yeah yeah
Nick Martin true but overall
What a shame!
