FS2020 - How to Toggle Reverse Thrust on Logitech Throttle Quadrant

A few people have been asking for a solution for this - here's the best solution I've found so far! Игры
What's really annoying is that the throttle quadrant itself does 100% support reverse thrust below the detent on the axis but Saitek broke this and implemented a soft switch instead. Because I have an investment in Saitek stuff and had built a panel around it, i've recently changed to a Honeycomb yoke while keeping the rest. This raised an issue that one of my throttle quadrants is the one with the PS2 connector that goes into the Saitek yoke. Rather than discard this, I opted to rewire it to work via a Leo Bodnar joystick board and I completely forgot about the 3 switches below the detent but in calibration noticed that the "zero" position at the detent is part way into the potentiometer axis already. I pushed the lever down and lo and behold, a complete axis!
Saitek/Logitech implemented the "switch" entirely in the control board and it's far better without it now and I have a variable reverse thrust axis. My axes are now implemented in Spad.next as "Throttle WITH reverse thrust". Very happy with my modification and the "reverse" switch if desired can be implemented in Spad.next as a conditional event.
Wonderful David & a useful guide for others.
Hi ya everyone. This is all aircraft capable of reverse thrust and applies to Saitek throttle quad. There is a way to get the engines to go full reverse without having to toggle reverse and then pushing the throttle forward again. This is a method that is all done in the sim control options. Set the switch at the very bottom of throttle travel on the Saitek throttle quad throttle lever to hold reverse thrust. This will keep reverse engaged as long as the lever is all the way down on the switch. Next assign decrease throttle to the same switch at the bottom of throttle lever travel (yes you can assign two actions to one switch). When the switch is engaged by the throttle lever reverse activates and stays activated and at the same time the decrease throttle will spool up the engines which are in reverse. Push the throttle lever forward and the reverse disengages. Ole school reverse, pull the throttle down and leave it there until you have slowed to taxi speed. Hope this helps someone.
IT WORKED! Thank you so much, you are a genius!
Oh man you're awesome ahah
keep this comment as a future note
Hi there...can you please be more specific to exactly how that set up is done,to me this narrative is somewhat vague...You say..."next assign"..but what about the first step? is this on the Z axis? unfortunatly I did not understand what was said!
This helped everyone lol
Thank you so much, I was spending a bit of time trying different settings to make it work. I gave up and searched for a video, bingo this is the one. Much appreciated!
Just now seeing this video a year later, I recently bought a T. Flight Stick X from Thrustmaster! Well, it has the throttle built into the flight stick, and as an avid a320 and 737 flyer, I needed to figure out how to get reverse thrust for those awesome landings!! thanks again, dude!
Time flies! Glad it's been useful to you ;)
Thank you so much. I just got Fs2020 a few weeks ago and I didn’t know how to get reverse thrust. If it wasn’t for you I would still be landing without reverse thrust. Thanks 👍
You're most welcome 👍
Hello! I just got my yoke a couple days ago, and I have been watching your vids. Thankss!!
More to come! ;)
Better way:
POWER MANAGEMENT/ THROTTLE/
THROTTLE 1 AXIS - JOYSTICK BUTTON 7
THROTTLE 2 AXIS - JOYSTICK BUTTON 7
THROTTLE 3 AXIS - JOYSTICK BUTTON 7
THROTTLE 4 AXIS - JOYSTICK BUTTON 7
HOLD THROTTLE REVERSE THRUST - JOYSTICK BUTTON 7
Acts funny in setup but works perfectly in sim.
Great tip!
Dude, you're a genius. But unfortunately when switching from Reverse to 0 it is often set to A/THR in the A320. I don't know if it is my Logitec Quadrant (I also have another quality problem on the buttons already), or if it is the Flight Simulator or maybe the setting here... But for the landing only this works fine.
@@DinoDarinoMischtdentorf sometimes going to the zero detent is not perfect. I have found when ending reverse it is better to advance slightly ahead of 0 detent, then quickly back to the 0 detent. Do not know if this could help you.
The function "decrease throttle" works fine to reverse too. Try it

Could you be more specific?
Exactly, and I mean exactly, what I was looking for! Thank you. I had a button set up for reverse thrust on my x52 throttle but during a landing sometimes the button would not take and I would end up in major forward thrust perfectly ruining an otherwise good landing. So I bought the quadrant an was trying to figure out how to use revers thrust on the black lever. I intuitively put it all the way down expecting it to work, but no. So the secret is to put it all the way down momentarily as a toggle then go forward. Again, thank you very much.
Great to hear this is still helping people.
thanks! works on Caravan too -very helpful, thanks again!
Most welcome!
Thanks for the support! I really appreciate it, have a good day!!
Most welcome and you too!
Very thanks buddy!! you resolv my problem on quadrants!!!
Great to hear!👍
Thank you, the best solution ever seen.
You're welcome.
Just assign z to decrease thrust command. Not toggle. The problem with toggle is that you need to hit the key but if you don't pay attention reverse wont apply. After that you just push all the way down to z and reverse will apply to the 25%. Remember Decrease Throttle with the letter z.
omg cant believe i am only figuring this out now, didnt think it was possible
Glad to be of help!
Thx I was having difficulty doing this so this vid is approximated by me
Hi! Late to the party...typical. The old reverse on FSX is F2. Still is in MSFS. Assign throttle quadrant detent to "Decrease throttle" and it works a charm:-)
Excellent suggestion!
Yet another great Vid you are the best
You Honour me
It's counter intuitive to push the throttle forward while trying to stop. I like the old flight sim where toggling it meant reverse thrust + full power. FS2020 never quite got it together.
Cracking, this solved the problem (albeit my problem!) In minutes. Thanks.
That's great to hear.
Très bien expliqué. Merci!
très bienvenu!
Thanks ! Would you recommend to have your version (toggle and throttle up to activate) or the "old school" version by SilkyPJ (hold the lever full down, then push it up again to deactivate the reverse) ?
I find it much easier to just assign a button on the throttle to hold rev thrust until you let it go myself, that way you are not left wondering what mode you are in. My throttle does not have a detent, sadly, so have to do it this way, but it works, LoL
Yes I now use 'hold' reverse thrust myself; much better👍
@@Huddison when searching for a way to set reverse thrust with this quadrant, your video comes up. Since you've found "hold" reverse thrust to be better, you might want to just remove this video and make an updated on. If I hadn't gone to the comments, I wouldn't know the better way.
Thank you this vid is very helpful!
No problem!
In this latest GOTY edition & update, these settings no longer appear to work with the new addition of 'on push' & 'on release' settings added - can you please help/advise as to reassign the original settings as per this old video tutorial for my Logitech Throttle Quadrant? Thanks in advance 👍
I'll have to look into it.

Please help... I have the same yoke and throttle quadrant. They worked perfectly in FSX. Now in fs 2020 my throttle won’t work although the yoke does. There is power to the quadrant as there is the green light on. Strangely the speed brake engages and disengages constantly whilst the throttle unit is connected to the yoke housing and unplugging it from the yoke housing stops it !! At my wits end with this now....any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated
I've heard of this issue before, but unfortunately, I don't know what is causing it - I'll pin this post, with the hopes that others who have had similar issues, may be able to help.

I buy my fsx 2020 two days ago and have same problem with my throttle won’t work although the yoke does. I try to look over internet and cant find the answer so I delete fsx 2020 from my computer reset my windows 10 to factory and than connect my saitek pro first with all sticks down on idle position than reinstall the mfs 2020 . Hi Huddison, thanks for your time to develop those helpful videos for us. I have two logitech quadrants and I want to use it in the Cessna 337 Skymaster or any other aircraft that have two props. I set the others (throttles, propellers and mixture) and works perfect, but the Feather switch for props don't works. I have set toggle feather switch 1 for prop 1 at RX; (that's the click sound when you move the lever of prop below zero mark) and nothing do. Any ideas or fix to do this in the video but for propellers? Thanks a lot and keep going!!! Take care!

Thanks
Thank you for this.
You're most welcome.
Hi Huddison, after a few hiccups I managed to install the PMDG-737. Of course I had some of your tutorials on my second screen but there' s one function that behaves strange. I want to use the Left lever of the Throttle quadrant to toggle the Speedbrake, that worked. I like the middle one to act as thrust (both engines). But as soon as I push this lever beyond 80% my right lever kicks in the reverse thrust (full). I checked if I had assigned a key to this (reverse) function but there doesn't seem to be any assignment connected to the right lever. Do you have any idea' s or suggestions? Thanks in advance ;-)
Did you assign your throttles as 'Throttle Axis'; not throttle 1,2 etc?
@@Huddison Solved (thanks). I had chosen "Throttle AXIS 1 (0 TO 100%)" in stead of "Throttle 1 AXIS". I also assigned the Third lever (Down) to toggle / activate "Reverse thrust" using my middle thrust lever. Anyway, we're getting there ;-)
Great to hear Ed ;)
Hi I have this set up and for some reason the rudder C1& C2 buttons dont work on the Cessnas. Do you know why or how I can fix that? I have them set to my 10keyless keyboard and would love to have them work on the yolk?
Thank you in advance!
Hi, Have you checked my other video first, about setting up the Yoke in FS2020?:

There's a part in that showing you how to set-up your buttons. Out of interest, what are you trying to set C1 & C2 to?
Cheers, I was thinking about ordering a set of these, there are like rocking horse poop right now though. Did you review them?
Yes check through my 'Flight Sim' playlist, you should find a review in there😉
Hi Huddison, I have a problem with my Saitek Pro Quadrant. I can't get full travel on the throttle lever(the middle one of the three I use) After I set the axis it only moves from idle to reverse. Can't move up to increase Autothrottle, CL/Flx/ and Toga. Sorry if its a stupid question but its driving me crazy! I'm using this on the Flybywire A320neo. Everything else seems to be fine. Any help gratefully appreciated. Thanks

Hello I use the DHC-4 Caribou. I followed your approach and it worked very well. Recently I installed the ornithopter (Dune) and for some reason, when I put the Caribou back on, the reverse command no longer works. I've tried everything to get it back to how it was before and I can't. Do you have a solution for me?
Not certain why installing the Omithopter ruins controls for some; will aim to look into it.
you always save my life
Good to know 😉
Is it possible to toggle full reverse just by hiting the soft switch without putting the lever full forward after?
It was possible before on FSX and Prepar3d
I do believe that there are one or two combinations one can use - I should revisit this subject.
Come & ask this question in our discord: discord.gg/3kra6JfHZT - lot's of inventive chaps in there!
I can activate this with the big airliners and the Cessna 208B and TBM 930. But i can not go backwards on the taxi way with the King Air 350 and with the Cessna Longitude. Or is it generally not possible in real life? Thanks!
Good question & I'm not sure from the top of my head. Hopefully others will chip in on this one.
@jrd210 The airliners go backwards with toggle thrust, but the Longitude have also turbines and do not go backwards. The TBM 930 and C208 have props and go backwards, but the King Air 350 with props do not go backwards. I dont understand it!?!
hey man i have the same controllers as you. how do i set flaps on the throttle controller? is there a video i tried in game and set joystick r axis x + and joystick r axis - to increase and decrease flaps, but it was only doing either full flaps or no flaps and i want it realistic where i can adjust the amount of flaps with the middle throttle with blue cover lever. if that makes sense

Is this setting limited to certain air craft or what i am doing wrong
See a video I released a few weeks ago for a work-around. Can't link it as I'm at work, but reverse thrust is in its title.
same did you ever find a fix?
Thanks a lot man
Happy to help
thanks for the video.
is it possible to set it normaly as it has to be like fsx? i mean, only with pulling the throttle lever down below the idle position
I don't believe so yet, but give it time - it's bound to be an option soon.
Reverse works better if you put your input in “Decrease throttle”.
If there's an in-game settings option to turn toggle off, then it should just engage full reverse thrust when you click it down, then back to neutral when you click it back up. If reverse only has toggle option, then set the Z to decrease thrust control, and it should drop thrust to neutral and continue into reverse.
Thx!
Most welcome!
Is there a way to make it to where when i bring it to the reverse position the engines go to reverse and then max reverse automatically like real life?
Let's call that a work in progress - remind me to come back to you.
thank you
do you have a video of how to set up all the buttons on the logitech yoke or does it do it by it self ?

SU5 just killed my throttle axis I now have forward and reverse throttle on the same axis split in half.... if I put my axis down it immediately controls the reverse thrust and if I push it forward it controls the normal thrust..... Is there any way to set this back? It just happened after sim update 5... and I really want the old controls back where I could switch between the thrust modes with a button and have my axis control only one thrust at the time....
I'm not quite sure off the top of my head, what's causing that. Ask in the Discord discord.gg/3kra6JfHZT
I remember somebody there who had similar issues.
I was having similar problem setting mine up…I noticed that if you are using the FlyByWire A320 you need to open the FlyPad to right of pilot then go to Settings and Calibrate the Detents…by default, reverse full is calibrated into the range of the throttle (comes on at about 25%)…I had to put the lever at 0% and select that I want it to be idle when there (no reverse thrust)…you then need to Save & Apply…then you can set the lever down (button 7) on the Throttle Quadrant as Decrease Throttle…works for me now 😉
Ah thanks for this, I thought it was put it in the down position to toggle 100% reverse thrust, not toggle the operation of the lever :) is there a way so when you press it down and hold it there it just gives 100% reverse thrust?
I don't believe you can have 100% reverse thrust by putting the lever in it's down most position.
You can set a button as 'Hold Reverse Thrust', which is more definite, so to speak.
@@Huddison is so easy to fix with the z. Just assign z to decrease thrust command. Not toggle. The problem with toggle is that you need to hit the key but if you don't pay attention reverse wont apply.

the geakery is strong in this one
I don’t like the toggle option for reverse thrust. You’re only asking for problems.
If it doesn’t toggle correctly the first time or for some reason it toggles twice, you could be full at thrust with breaks on and not much runway left. Not good.
That's a good point. I been experimenting with 'Hold' reverse thrust and it's a little more definitive.
@@Huddison That’s a good idea. Might try that!
Just assign z to decrease thrust command. Not toggle. The problem with toggle is that you need to hit the key but if you don't pay attention reverse wont apply. After that you just push all the way down to z and reverse will apply to the 25%. Remember Decrease Throttle with the letter z.
Yes, I set my toggle reverse thrust option to one of the rocker switches beneath the throttle. If you hit the wrong one by mistake and thus do not toggle reverse thrust, and then go to full forward power instead, it goes very poorly, I assure you.
@@airborneyyc Same here. But can’t find a better way.

No in this case, it 'toggles' reverse thrust mode; so the engine power will effect that level of reverse thrust.

Hi Huddison, when I put the reverse thrusters down it flickers between idle and reverse thrusters any thing you know about it?
You may be best setting a button for hold reverse thrust.
@@Huddison thanks i fixed it it works now
Schon wieder english pohhh
Well, I would speak Japanese if I knew how..
Worst flight sim I have ever used. Best looking, worst performing. Not ANYTHING even CLOSE to realistic. FUlly configured, full right rudder and right brake and a kingair 350 can't stay on the runway. As a king air pilot myself, this is the farthest from reality of any simulator I have ever flown (been simming since '94) GARBAGE!!!
