Yes the Multi Panel is a useful addition to starting to build an actual cockpit set up I have since added the Switch Panel and the Radio Panel plus one Flight Instrument that I programmed as my Altimeter. One thing I found useful to do on the Trim Wheel was to use white enamel paint on four equal segments on the trim wheel this gave me more precision when spinning the wheel.

I have used this panel along with other Saitek/Logitech panels for several years, on FSX, Prepar3D and now MSFS2020. They certainly add to the emersion into our hobby. The way I see it, few real world pilots use a keyboard to control their plane in flight so I don't want to either lol. I can't afford one of the marvellous home built cockpits I have seen on RUclips, nor do I have the skill required but I have flown a real C172 from start up to shut down based purely on my flight simulator knowledge. Using a keyboard for control would not have given me the right experience. So I urge all flight sim pilots to make it as real as you can. I assure you that you will enjoy your hobby so much more. 😁

      @Huddison  3 года назад +3

Well said. I failed to mention throughout this video, that real world pilots would benefit from using panels like this in a sim.
It certainly makes it all the more real for myself!

    Nice video.
    Just a thought.
MSFS2020 ALT settings do not change altitude (ergo does not increase/decrease altitude) until you change the way you want to change altitude: Vertical Speed (VS) versus Flight Level Change (FLC).
If you change desired altitude alone, the airplane does not start climbing or descending immediately.
That's why there is no change from 700ft to 800ft in your nice video.

    • @Huddison

Great video . Got both the radio and multipanel today. The radio worked first time, but the m/panel kept coming up on screen as low power . ( no leds ) . After a lot of messing around decided to plug it straight into the computer by passing the yoke. This worked perfect . So |'ve ordered a powered USB hub and will try pluging the yoke straight into that . If that works great , if not will plug the panels straight into the hub. Will keep you all updated .

I really like this product, although my new unit bought in October had a loose silver knob which got worse as the days went on.. I did not want to send it back for a minor fault but Logitech would not allow me to opent it up to sort it. Tons of emails later where I got the run around big time, by customer service. It took writing to the MD of Logitech at Christmas to plead for help. All thus was within the 30 days warranty. I wanted to buy a Logitech yoke but just can not get one so had to order a Honeycomb which has not come yet. I do not understand Logitech with very poor customer service to us flight simmers. But I like the product and your videos. PS the knob is nit an easy fix....they should make their products a bit better quality as we don't treat them like toys.

Many thanks for all your reviews which have been most helpful to me as a 'Newbie'. I’ve just bought this multi-panel and watched your review of it before even opening the box - tells you how helpful I find your guidance! On this one, I’ve got a couple of thoughts and feedback which I hope you’ll find helpful. First, like you, I plan to keep my setting for flaps with the Yoke system as it is, which means I’d like ideally to set up the multi-panel slider for flaps to something else, perhaps gear up and down. Without the multi-panel showing up in the FS2020 settings, is there any way of customising this do you know please? Second, you didn’t appear to make use of the auto-throttle setting in your review: it would be good to understand how this works too. Thanks again for all your tuition and advice - very much appreciated. Ken
PS Just seen your other review about Spad.next. Thanks!

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 года назад

Hi Ken, It's good to hear that you got yourself a Multi-panel: it's mine (and many others) favourite hardware flight accessory.
You can't (as far as I am aware) configure the various switches & knobs on the Multi-panel to do anything other than what they are set/designed to do; but there is a program called Spad.next, that allows one to reconfigure them.
I made a video on this subject and will put a link to it here for you: ruclips.net/video/XSzr0PKqAvA/видео.html
I haven't had much use for the 'Auto Throttle' as yet, but will endeavour to see where and how that can be used, as part of a future video.

Got the multi panel up and running with FS2020. But after turning PC off and on, the panel refused to work in FS2020. It tested fine with the logitech test software.
Wasted a few hours trying various USB power management fixes with no success. I use an Atolla powered USB hub.
Eventually learned the Logitech Plugin is supposed to auto load and unload when playing FS2020, but it wasn't doing this. I also failed to notice there was a shortcut on windows desktop to manually start the Plugin.....!
After more googling, I found out the EXE.xml file which is used to start/stop addons within FS2020 was corrupt. I deleted it and reinstalled the Logitech Plugin and all working as it should.
The trim wheel is a bit disappointing as it requires a huge number of turns unlike trim wheel on V1 stick. I read only way to improve responsiveness is to remove the Logitech Plugin and pay for and install spad.next alternative driver software...

@Huddison, thanks for another excellent review!
I just received my Logitech multi-panel, which I'd ordered after watching your review and setup video which impressed me no end!
I downloaded and installed the multi-panel MSFS2020 plugin (Driver) from the Logitech website, and ran MSFS2020.
However, while setting the ALT, using the outer (Larger) rotary dial knob to the right, the increments are in 100's and not in thousands, unlike the in-game virtual rotary panel where the increments / decrements are in 1000's for the outer rotary dial knob and in 100's for the inner (Smaller) dial knob.
Is it a software bug or am I doing something wrong?
Moreover, when I run the Test Multi-Panel software, no lights flash and the on-screen panel does not show any flap or trim or switch movements, like it does in your video. It just runs and a FINISH prompt appears after 3-4 seconds. I'm wondering what the issue is?
Will appreciate any help on this.

@@Huddison My Multi Panel arrived a couple of days ago. Came from Madrid, so quite a journey. Came a lot earlier than I thought it would. Instructions are , well non existent. Not much better on the website.
I already have the switch panel which is fixed under my computer desk. The extra mount screws to the bottom of the top one. The panel then fits into the mount. It wobbles a bit. This is due the design of the mounts, which have mounting holes at the back of the mount only. There are no countersunk holes at the front of the top of the mount. I shall drill my own.
Connecting up. If you have the yoke there is a spare usb 2 port on this , but only one. I have the switch panel plugged into this. On the back of my computer there are 5 usb 3.1 sockets and one usb C . I first plugged the multi panel into this via a adapter . Does not work. This was after installing the latest driver from Logitech. Changed it to a USB 3 , and it worked. Plugged one of my other devices into the usb C socket. Everything now works as expected.
To sum up. These are not inexpensive units. But they are very much legacy products. You don’t need a high speed data link for this type of flight sim add on. Hence the usb 2 connections. It would have been nice if there were a couple of extra ports on the yoke unit. This would have made expansion much easier, and neater. I cannot see these ever being updated, apart from the drivers. They do work though, which is the main thing. I might try plugging a 2 port usb expansion into the yoke to see if that works at some time. This would free up the ports on the computer.

Yes it works fine, I don't favour the aluminium tubes but rather GA. That said, the airspeed control via multi panel and other AP functions well.
Sure the throttle lever don't move (I have twin engine Logitech throttle setup) and the other thing that may screw things up is the way the trim wheel works.
I have the Cessna trim wheel too, which is done with an optical encoder but the interface board presents itself to FS as a trim axis and not a momentary input.
What happens is that the autopilot sets the elevator trim and that's fine but the moment you touch the trim wheel, it inputs whatever value the trim when was set at, giving a massive change. I fixed mine by bypassing the Logitech interface and fitting a rotary encoder to my Cessna trim wheel and feeding the inputs to a Leo bodnar joystick board, which provides pulsed inputs mapped to trim.
IF the multipanel trim wheel is an encoder input then it will be fine but if it also implements trim axis then the same problem will occur.
I do have the multipanel but don't use the trim wheel for trim but have used it in the past for AP nose up/down programming and can't remember how it presents itself. I will check later this evening when I next play FS.

Downloaded the G1000GIx from the marketplace in fsms2000. The panel worked with all planes and the old G1000 real good. After downloading the G1000NIx the panel worked good on the ground and for short time in the air then went silly. Developers' sites dose has a reason why this happens. Uninstalled the G1000NIx out of my hanger files and the old G1000 worked fine again. G1000NIx is going to be in the next update. Will I be able to uninstall it if my panel does not work? Or do I need to not update? Going to be lots of unhappy panel users if this problem is
    not fixed

Not any plane no - I just tried it with the Pitts Special & because that aircraft doesn't have an auto pilot natively, I couldn't switch on auto pilot, via the Multi Panel, in that plane.
