    Just a little mention when you select the your alt then select your climb rate, the aircraft will begins to climb and your ALT light goes out because your in climb mode as soon as you reach your chosen altitude the VS goes out and the ALT comes on automatically.

  • @Squirel

    I haven't tried with the airliners yet but have been working with my multi panel with the GA aeroplanes that have auto pilot. Everything you say is true. I'm not clever enough to to enter my flight plans in the flight computer, I am yet to learn how, but I enter the details in my simulator, and for instance, for GA aircraft I will likely choose Low Altitude Airways and choose ILS approach at my destination airport. I can then take off and start my flight manually and when appropriate, select the NAV, ALT, VS & AP buttons and the plane joins the flight plan. It will fly to the next station on the plan and change course for the next and so forth. (Very handy if you want to make an inflight coffee etc) On my radio panel (which you could do on the plane panel) I set NAV 1 to the ILS frequency at the destination, and set the CRS heading on the multi panel. At the right time, I press the APR (approach) button on the multi panel which engages the ILS approach. It controls the course and altitude for the final decent. I disengage the AP just before the threshold and land manually. I'll be trying this soon with an airliner quite soon. Happy flying :)

      @Squirel 4 года назад +2

      @@BrardyDan I've been doing some trial and error too. The panels work seamlessly with MSFS 2020 but do behave a little differently to P3D V4 which I was flying previously. There are differences too between different aircraft as Huddison was finding out, particularly with ALT and VS buttons on the multi panel. I have the Cessna 182 and the PA 44 by Carenado and the altitude part of the auto pilot works quite differently in each plane. Sadly, I wouldn't know where to begin with doing a video - I'm really good at watching them but no equipment/software for making them.

    I had problems with the display not lighting up on the Multi panel and after a search found it to be a power saving option in the register files now working fine. This applies to PCs running the new windows 11. It was ok up to that Windows Update so look out folks. To fix go to Search>Control Panel>Hardware and Sound>Devices and Printers>Choose Multi Flight Panel then Right Click it and choose Properties on the Hardware tab choose USB Input Device and Double click device properties then choose Events tab in the information there make a note of the Device settings number (it will read something like USB/VID_06A3&PID_0D06\589) Close all these windows down then in Search type regedit then go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SYSTEM>Current Control Setin the dropdown list choose ENUM>USB>then look down the list until you find the match to the number you saved, keep opening each folder to Device Parameters then Enhanced Power and change the 1 to 0 your done close all windows and SHUT DOWN and restart Windows. Your Multi Panel should now light up. Hope this helps you, it worked fine for me

    Hi, Falcon 2000EX EASy pilot and CFI/I here. These modes seem a little strange...I see a lot of unnecessary button-pushing. In a real aircraft, ALT is an altitude-hold mode, so you woudn't be in ALT and VS at the same time (ALT ARM and VS perhaps, but that's another confusing situation that's specific to the KAP-140 autopilot). In any well-designed autopilot (e.g. NOT the KAP-140!) you'd be in VS mode (or Pitch mode, or FLC mode) until reaching your selected altitude, at which time the AP would capture the altitude and switch to ALT mode on its own.
    In fact, if you pressed the ALT button at any given time -- climbing or descending -- the AP would typically cancel your climb/descent mode and immediately level you off at same altitude at which you pressed the button.
    In a real airplane, if you were level at 2000 feet in ALT mode, and were assigned a climb to 3000, you would set the selected altitude to 3000, then press VS, then dial in your selected vertical speed, and let the airplane capture the altitude automatically. No need to press the ALT button. There hardly ever *is* a need to press ALT on all but the most simplistic autopilots.
    When pressing VS, the ALT mode should automatically disengage (as it appears to do in your video) because you can only have ONE active vertical mode at a time.
    The real question is, if you set the selected altitude well above the aircraft, and climbed ONLY in VS mode, would it capture the selected altitude with no further action required? It should.
    No offense, but are you certain you're using the controller buttons and modes as the designers intended?

    • @Huddison
      @Huddison  3 года назад +1

      Possibly not as the designers intended, but keep in mind, it's a simulator and I was simply demonstrating the Multi panels' features, without pertaining to absolute perfection - look elsewhere for that 😉
