As a real pilot I feel that it is necessary to comment about the spring assisted yoke. At this price point you can't expect to have realistic resistance servos and motors keeping up with real time flight data. With that being said, If you were to fly a C172 and pull back on the yoke and then release it while inflight, the yoke would actually reset to about its center position. In real life the yoke in directly connected to the control surfaces with cables, so if you were to deflect the elevator for example, the air flowing over the horizontal stabilizer would in fact flatten out that elevator and return the yoke to about the center position.
With all that out of the way, back to my first point, you really don't need all the fancy motors because you don't need to over control the aircraft. The springs do their job to add a bit of resistance and allow the yoke to reset. Unless you're trying to do aerobatic work/dog fighting, this is a great yoke for getting the that extra bit of immersion a realistic feel of the real thing.
you're a pilot nahhh u cant be pilots are myths
Crazy-sentence sounds about right
Diggy Powell yep
Lars Trone pilots are fake
Lars Trone I think the honeycomb is a good option too. But this is cheaper and has a throttle included, which IMO is more important than the switch panel on the honeycomb. For people ons budget this is a good entry level yoke and throttle.
Awesome review. I've been flight simming since the 80's, but have always done stick/rudder. First time I've decided to make the switch, as I prepare for my PPL in the coming years - so getting used to both stick and yoke are crucial - as most training aviation is yoke only. The price really is right for this initial set up - and it is extremely tempting to go all-out for the additional hardware :)
I would reccomed a honeycomb yoke because it is more realistic and has a 90• turn for each side and comes with a switch panel!
I bought this recently and also bought the Turtle Beach Velocity One Flight Yoke system that is newer to compare it against. I used the velocity one first and this one second. Genuinely felt like this was a pretty poor product at least in comparing it to the Turtle Beach one, which just has so many features in one package.
Logitech Cons
-Only 45 degree turns
-Limited buttons on yoke
-Won't attach to a desk with a beveled edge or curve in
-Throttle Quadrant is decent, but if flying single piston planes mostly, you may want venire style knobs
-Limited capability in programming of buttons and interface
-No ability to see what button does what without going to control settings in-game or within programming window
Pros -
-Superior to Keyboard for control of plane
-Simulates flight to a degree
Just my two cents, take it for what its worth.
It's certainly better but it's also €250 more (at least here in Italy), and a yoke that costs three times as much is not really something for beginners (as a broke university student I definitely wouldn't be able to afford that). For those who need a yoke for a more professional use should definitely spend more and get a better yoke, but this video said this is great for beginners, I got it for €70 (used) and I think it's absolutely great for just flight simming for fun, definitely better than using my keyboard and mouse
I’ve had mine for years tho I will say I’m not crazy about it. I don’t like how it will only tilt up to 45 degrees whereas in real life the yokes will tilt to 90 degrees. The spring loaded bounce back is also a thing. Also I’ve noticed that it isn’t as smooth as it could be. When you’ve got a lot of pressure applied it will be a bit jerky
Review is great and all but I’m tripping out that we have the exact same monitor and wallpaper. Must have good taste!
All great minds think alike 👍
i know im a bit late on commenting on this video. ive flown a decent number of hours in planes at this point and got used to how cessna and pipers feel and fly. for me now, if i want to go and practise circuits on x plane 11 (that's what i was using when i last had it out) i manage maybe 2 laps before im fed up of it. the dead zones on the yoke are just too big and the travel just isnt quite enough. however, before flying a ga plane or even on limited hours, id have to say its a totally different story. when i used to fly on fsx it was great and a lot more immersive than most things, plus i loved having a yoke over a stick. but if i wanted to fly on a flight sim now, i think id have to either go for a stick just for greater accuracy, especially with my training eventually leading to me flying the diamond da42, or go honeycomb
Its definetly worth the sheckles, for a couple of reasons. It gets you used to scanning gauges, flight planning, and you can fly to airports that you could actually go to. I'm talking about the yoke and ms software...the yoke and rudder work well enough to get the point across...enjoy
One more point: this thing is probably one of the most sold systems on the planet, therefore you will probably never run into driver or configuration problems as it is so widely supported right out of the box.
why didn't you mention the atrocious deadzone ?
I have this yoke and throttle, but mine doesn’t connect to pc. Plug in and USB sound doesn’t happen. And I’ve gone to device manager and it isn’t in any category. You know why? Ps. Happened since windows ten update
For 100$ it’s definitely worth even in 2023! Using it With VR is the best thing in the world
Got mine today off amazon for a bargain price of £89.99 love it. my 1st ever yoke.
Lol mine was £169
did it have the power supply, that concerned me.
from what i remember it didnt but i believe that is normal. the power is provided through the usb@@johnfeet5476
Impressive quality,really enjoyed the review.
Glad you enjoyed 🤗
I’m a aircraft mechanic larger aircraft such as a Boeing 757 the yoke actually does go back to its normal position. I’m assuming he’s talking about smaller aircraft which I’m not very familiar with no hate just explaining why it could be they chose to make the yoke like that
I got the yoke, rudders, and various flight panels. Not a single one of them even registers on my modern computer and I can't see them up either. I have almost given up entirely on trying to do my flight sim stuff...
I would say buy it only if you can find a used one at a really good price. Then do some mods (rubber band mod is a must imo) otherwise skip it and go straight to Honeycomb...I actually did 2 mods to the yoke: rubber bands (pitch, roll) and the Bodnar BU0836A board to eliminate center deadzone. The experience now is much better! I'm still wondering why Logitech did nothing to fix the issues that have been there for years now!
Agreed, I went a couple of steps further by reinforcing the yoke handle with 3mm aluminium plate shaped to fit inside to stiffen it up and stop if flexing, same for the mounting area to the shaft with aluminium plates inside and out and then filled the baffled parts of the corners of the yoke with acrylic resin. It's completely stiff now, doesn't squeak and has a lot more weight to it. Rub the shaft with lots of candle wax.
@@djtaylorutube Any chance for more details (web page, photos)? That squeaking, flexing and overly light handle is driving me nuts!:) Thx.
@@radosawszmid7822 Hi, not really but i've just thrown this video together to talk about it and do a demo flight ruclips.net/video/UhKGfIvdRMo/видео.html
I've seen reported that the Honeycomb also has a detent, doesn't surprise me and my motivation here was simply that the Honeycomb is unavailable and besides, i've already got a bunch of Saitek stuff which would cost ~£500 to replace and that makes no sense. Plus, the Honeycomb doesn't yet offer the same functionality as what I have. But i'm not being a champion of Saitek/Logitech, it's just that's what I happen to have and I don't wish to throw money away when I can improve what I have and I don't feel that i'm lacking anything right now after these small but significant improvements.
I wasn't going to take the yoke handle apart for a picture of the aluminium inside but it's just a piece that follows the profile of the yoke handle internals. I made a cardboard template first and then cut the aluminium (3mm plate) to fit. Anything would do, I just happened to have this already. I could have tidied up the bit that's visible on the rear but at that point I was in the "whatever" mood and just wanted to try it out.
It's super smooth, feels well weighted and i'm really happy with the result and still have a load more inputs on the Leo Bodnar board to assign to some other hardware at some point.
Logitech is more concerned with taking our money than improving their products, unfortunately.
Is 120 a good price? Also what's a rubber band mod
Really comprehensive and well made video, nice work :)
Well ta very much, glad you enjoyed 😁
Fleabay Saitek Cessna yoke has full 180 degrees, I saw one go £50 with a throttle quadrant, I bought a honeycomb for £154 new from Currys
When will the yoke get back in stock? In Logitech ?
Question, which flight rudder/pedals you recommend with this system. Thanks
Logitech do a nice set
Personally I have the Logitech g920 steering wheel so I just use the clutch and accelerator😂
@@charlieredding3629 i've been trying to find out if you actually have some rudder control with this one alone, feels pretty wasted if you don't as getting the rudder control cost as much as the yoke and throttle itself.
However, you think my Logitech G29 pedals would work on it?
i could listen to this guy for hours
great vid, more on Radio instruments available and review, thanks a lot.👍
Saw the thumbnail and went “wait, I used this in aerospace class in high school!”. Sadly it didn’t go anywhere as the college sponsoring the school’s aerospace and private pilot program stopped doing so mid my freshmen year.
you could drill and tap a hole in the yoke collar and put in a Teflon screw to add friction to the yoke shaft and override the spring tension...
Can you use the yoke as the rudder if you don’t have rudder pedals? Thanks!
One question how can you mount the panels to a desk cause mine can’t or something like that
These are like sold out everywhere
Go to dell nobody byes stuff on the online dell store so it’s fully stocked rn
@Mark L. Same, bought it few days ago, still waiting for it to ship
@@bigmanmegee didnt do that because their expected shipping date was in November. I recommend FlightVelocity, they are in stock, not an absurd price, and expected 2 week shipping
Nice video im going to buy it in 3days but i think u can take out the spring out if u un screw it.Have a nice day!
I love that caselabs case behind you!
Great video! Will this setup work for il-2 and DCS world? 🇺🇸
I got this for $140 while it is currently being sold on average for about $170. I already have rudder pedals and I'm only a casual GA flight sim player so these seem like a decent controller for the price. I'll have to see if there are any mods to get rid of the springiness on the yoke as I would like it to stay where it is when banking.
Oh, and I won't actually have it for a few days so I don't know if it's any good.
Currys UK are currently selling these for a little over £102.99. A bargain for what you get.
That is actually quite tempting. I have heavily modified my current one and want another so that I can continue to the next phase of modifications while still having a usable controller in the mean time. Even selling on Ebay after for £50 (and used ones are going for more than this) and it's a good deal.
I have tried to get from Curry but they are out of stock. Any idea if can find besides eBay.
Update I have just checked for another attempt and I have actually managed to order one. Thanks for the timing inspiration to check. Hope it will be delivered without issues.
Was thinking about getting one of these because all the other flight sim stuff are for Right Handed people and I'm a Left Handed, The only other Joystick i know of that caters for Lefty's is the Thrustmaster T-1600
I broke mine I was crashing my f14 and I was desperately trying to get out of the stall and I turned the yoke hard to the right and heard a loud crack now I can’t turn either direction
these are selling for over 300 USD on amazon right now! got mine for 150 USD and rudder pedals are on back order til further notice but im sure has hell not paying 350 for the rudder pedals lol
can you assign 2 engines to 1 throttle lever?
Question how thick of a table can the yoke grab on to?!? cause my desktop is 12 cm or 5 inches thick
Crackster Legends um not that much I’d say 7 cm
Dandi Randi thanks
Can the throttle be used with different yoke like the honeycomb??
Hi. How did you manage power for Yoke?
I can't get power to panels.
Do you connect the throttle with yoke or can you just connect to pc with usb
1 day before Microsoft flight simulator 2020 got released anyway that is a good game
Could I ask can you use the controller for the upcoming x plane 12 and 2ill it work if your laptop is windows 11
question: im looking for a throttle that slides in and out as apposed to pivoting around. I'm just looking for something that works well, and not one that necessarily feels good (at a relatively low cost). what would you recommend?
Saitek do a cesna one, called tpm thats a slide in and out throttle pitch mixture with 9 switches as well, i prefer it by far to the throttle quadrant that comes with the yoke
Does this work on xbox?
Do you think this system will work well with star citizen and my Drake Caterpillar?
Great review. Thanks!
I am liking your content, you have new sub
Hello, is it possible to use Two pro flight throttle logitech to manage 4 engine pls ?
Sold out everywhere
Yes. I was trying to buy it new and was impossible. I just found it used (Almost new) on Facebook marketplace
Can I play Microsoft Flight Simulator by only by the yoke and the throttle?? Without buying the rudder paddles. Because I dont have that much money. Please let me know
Yes you can, there are settings in flight simulator that allow the computer to control the rudder so you won't need the pedals. Alternatively you can set two buttons to do it but you won't have the analogue control that the rudder really needs. So there are ways to work around it.
@@VirtualRealityPilot Thanks bro. Thank uuu so much
You can put rubber bands inside and it makes it realistic. The springs are junk. Just look up a tutorial on RUclips
Why does it need a power adapter ?
Would it be good for warthunder plane sim
I like your T Shirt and thanx for the vid...
The other panels like the autopiolt panel and shuch wich do you segest buying first I have a flight yoke and throttle the one in the video but I am not shure wichc is best to buy to add on to what I have.
Multipanel. I suggest using it with sPad.next (Google). It you have an Android tablet though, try FS radio panel pro. Lots of functionality that does all that the physical controls do.
Whats the difirent between saitek and logistiek? I have one its sai saitek
I found a used one for 60 euros. Is it worth it?
What's the name of the vertical monitor next to your main monitor?
can you use this with star citizen?
Is it compatible with series x?
I Have just odered a set fro me and im looking forward to the function of automatically going back to it neutral zone becuase until now i have been using the keyboard. Great Video Tao You made me buy this
Glad you found it useful, enjoy many hours in the virtual skies
Wait so it requires power to work but doesn’t include the power cable?!? What the heck?
It has a USB conector to your PC
How to use rudder without pedals ?
It works on Xbox Cloud on PC?
would it be a good idea to try to open the yoke box to remove the spring that makes it recenter or would you advise against it ?
You’ll potentially end up with problems on any future warranty claim if you do that. Plus you don’t know exactly how it will affect the yoke. I know many do most their yokes but personally I would recommend against it.
Is this "Logitech Pro Flight Yoke" recognize by msfs 2020 automatically & out of the box on PC (not steam) or you need to adjust everything in settings?
I had to download drivers but that's pretty much it. All buttons were assigned, although you would like to do some changes. Same goes for their panels.
You should review the Honeycomb Aeronautical products, they are premium products at mid range price I'd say.
They're really pushing amazing products and they would be very nice for immersion.
@@Ky-iz8py Before you rage at people, I am inclined to my own opinion. We don't need to be toxic because it's the internet, there is far better ways to spend your life. It is mid range in my opinion because we have products like the Yoko that are above $1,000! Think that $250 is well classified as mid-range.
3:59 Meanwhile me getting it for 82 on CeX
The $240 would probably be Australian dollars
Dose this work on the xbox series x?
Great Job!
Well, this didn't age well. With Honeycomb Alpha and other, we can now see how badly we consumers were treated when given Saitek and CH yokes. Actually, home made 3D printed yokes that use linear bearings and ball bearings feel and perform zillion times better than Saitek.
My own pro flight yoke is so heavily modded that it only resembles original externally, but internals are completely redone. Mechanics are from here (ruclips.net/video/nO-lanEc5vM/видео.htmlsi=hUhC-lE2U0ojXYO4) with buttons and clock connected to original electronics, and roll and pitch connected to Leo Bodnar's 12-bit board...
And it now feels like it should from the start for 140 euros i originally spent on it.
Speaking of Honeycomb and things not ageing well...
I feel like the honeycomb yoke is better than the Logitech the Logitechs biggest flaw is not having 180 degrees
turning
Yep but if you have a 3D printer, there's a fix for this on Thingiverse :)
Depends on the plane in real life. Mooney m20’s for example have less travel.
where can i get ur shirt tho
Will this work with the combat simulators (Stormivik etc.) as well?
Yeah, it’s really cool with bombers and such with a yoke. 👍🏻
If this is a Level Entry device, what would you recommend for like a Middle entry Level ?
Honeycomb alpha yoke
@@VirtualRealityPilot I couldn't help notice, If they offer pedals... is this a deal breaker?
Work ist on Xbox ?
How can i control the rudder with this yoke?? Thanks in advance
Use a rotary joystick instead. It will make your taxing easier.
Will this work on flight sim 2020?
Yes
Ray Jennings u don’t have to tell them that my question has already been answered
Ray Jennings just in case
Cannot get mine to work with FSFS2020 but it works with Xplane FSX FS9 any ideas ??
Use spad.next works great
Its just under £94 on Amazon with the Throttle at the moment. Quite tempted!
Very good value at that price and a great starter yoke. Plus you can always resell second hand later if you want to upgrade - really can’t go wrong at that price.
@Michael H Hey do you still like your yoke?
I can't use rudder pedals due to a physical injury to my foot, how can I use something besides pedals to control rudder in ms 2020 with a yoke?
I guess you could bind the rudder to buttons on the yoke.
There is a CH Products Eclipse Yoke which has Rudder build in, maybe check it out!
nice video, thank you
This is great, I bough it, now HOW do I power the damn thing? I have tried several adaptors, but it doesn't power it. Any info would be great.
It should be powered through usb, there should be no need for an external power adapter which only for using it as a usb hub
@@VirtualRealityPilot THANKL YOU!!! :-)
Got this for 100 quid pre pandemic. Why is the captain not in the right seat if he or she isn't left handed?
The captains seat is always nice n the left irrespective of whether you are left or right handed. What gets challenging is when a first officer is promoted to captain and has to change sides - all that muscle memory has to be relearned.
Does it work on Xbox?
Yea but does it have compatibility with xplane 11
It does indeedy
do i need rudder or i can play with the control wheel and the power thing only in microsoft flight sim 2020, will it work ? i have the (saitek pro flight yoke)
I’m going to say u need rudder unless u wanna somehow do it on keyboard but I would say get the rudder
@@HyperJoe36 i played it last night without using rudder even in the keyboard ... it was not important i can move the airplane with the wheel left and right + when i use the rudder the airplane move too hard to the right i was all most falling
@@emiratii2464 that's because the keyboard is 100% on or off unlike a real rudder or rudder pedal system that is on an axis. You will have much more control with rudders.
hey I have a curved table will the throttle and yoke be fine?
Depends how tight the curve is but ideally these should be mounted to straight edge
@@VirtualRealityPilot ok ok thanks
do you think the 45 degrees is enough or should there be 90?
No it sucks! But you probably wil never use the full 90 degrees. But i would buy the Honeycomb alpha yoke. It is a little more expansive but 100 times beter.
@@wouterrrtjee what is wrong with the 45 degrees
@@Littledino7382The sensitivty feels different and off. It's really a night and day difference between these.
will this work for microsoft flight sim on xbox one?
Yes
need power unit or powered by USB ?
It will power via usb
@@VirtualRealityPilot ty :)
Not happy with the springs? Disconnect them then lol
so it does not come with USB/POWER-cables?!
No power cable and only the usb cables to connect the device to the pc
@@VirtualRealityPilot ok do you need a power cable tho? because on my logitech g27 you need one
Not to use the yoke on its own, you only need a power cable if you want to power usb devices plugged into the yoke
I wonder how hard it would be to modify/remove/dampen that spring.
It's absolutely trivial, plenty of videos on it on RUclips. Get rid of the springs and replace with rubber bands. Bypass the logitech electronics for the yoke axes and replace with a Leo Bodnar board and Rub candlewax all over the shaft (O.o err!) and then I did one other major mod (optional).
I didn't like the creaking of the yoke handle and it was a bit too flexi for me. I took it apart and cut a piece of 3mm aluminium plate to the shape of the inside of the handle, full yoke shape. I also reinforced the flat part at the back with a 3mm aluminium plate inside and outside, drilled and screwed to connect these to the plastic. Finally, I poured acrylic resin into the yoke handle in the corners (it's all baffled so doesn't run everywhere).
Oh, I also used some unused inputs on the Leo board to add a dual concentric encoder which I map to the COM radio with the push button on it to do COM swap.
I now have a stiff, weighty handle with super smooth movement and no centre detent and via the Leo Bodnar board, great resolution.
I get that the Honeycomb may be new, shiny, higher quality etc. but they're like hens teeth to get hold of and I already have the Logitech. No rush to change now.
It's worth it because it's almost the only yoke available lol
Very true, the honeycomb yoke has been out of stock for months
Is the saitek version the same thing?
Logitech bought out Saitek, so I would say yes.
From what I've heard the logitech version is newer and better.
@@meemmensch6459 You could be right. Thanks for pointing that out.
so does the new Flight Sim work with all that?
yes
This yoke system sucks ass, i hate it, its zero fun, you have to constantly hold against the spring so kinda like constant stick forces. I feel ripped off
Got it for around 100 usd
Nice 👌
