Thank you. I'm not well and I wanted to hear this best version. I can rest well. You will never know how important this is to me. And I'm running up to the hill. Aren't we all..
I'm 58 and not well, either. I have two older sisters and remember hearing this for the first time on our hi-fi around 1970. It was summer, Dad was at work and Mom was a housewife. I was stretched out on our living room floor with my plump, bare little feet itching to run on the hill of a meadow among the sheep. This song felt magical to me. It made me feel dreamy and alive. A little, blonde five year old girl in the central US safe at home on a summer day.
You and I are the same age... When I was a child all my roses were red and my meadow's green. I miss my parents - both gone - and my family all being together under one roof. Never knew it would hurt so much to look back. RIP, Mom and Dad ❤
I remember a girl called Najara. She was a little on the chubby side but had beautiful long hair & full of life. She got to find herself a boy friend who was Jewish, who married her. She invited all of her friends to attend the wedding at a Catholic church. Najara used to love "Jean" so l can't help but remember her when l hear it.
In a time when the nightly news gave the daily injured and dead numbers in Vietnam almost like routine sports scores, we had songs like this and Paul Mauriat's "Love is Blue" or "Wichita Lineman" by Glen Campbell. I think many more of us would have gone crazy without hearing such beautiful releases to escape the real world, if only for a few minutes. Good enhancement.
I remember singing this in my High School's chorus in 1971. We had a wonderful Chorus teacher and she would have us singing these wonderful songs. I still think of that class and the songs very fondly.
Remembering Maggie Smith who just passed two days ago. This song will always be synonymous w/the great actress who portrayed 'Jean' in the 1969 film The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. Peace in Heaven, Miss Maggie. 💐
For my auntie Jean Faulkner of Aberbargoed, South Wales. A wonderful kind woman. Jean Faulkner 1940- 2023. Rip auntie Jean, thank you for being Who you are and all the wonderful things you did. I want them all to know. From your nephew Andrew.
The artistic quality of this song and the beauty of it is off the charts. It's hard to believe that music half a century ago is superior to anything that is now heard on the radio. Strange but true!
It's amazing, how the songwriters, producers and the arrangement of this song total genius; to bring all these elements together create such a beautiful song; and put such a clean and pure vocals on top and to compete with the greatest Musicians at the time, Beatles, Hendrix Etc. And to hold High by on the music charts. Everytime I listen to it; I hear something new in the musical arrangement. It's a heartbreaker to me.
From Song Facts: This was the theme song to the motion picture The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. The song was an enormous success, and along with "Good Morning Starshine," briefly put Oliver (William Oliver Swofford) at the top of the business. Unfortunately, his singing career trailed off, and he eventually left the entertainment industry.
Define insanity: Raindrops keep falling on my head by Bobby Goldsboro won for Best Song that year(Grammies?). Over Jean . It still is bewildering to me!
I was 15 when this song came out...now I'm 70 and still love it...2023...❤❤
Me too...71 in August
Love Oliver. Such a voice.
Thank you. I'm not well and I wanted to hear this best version. I can rest well. You will never know how important this is to me. And I'm running up to the hill. Aren't we all..
Hope you are okay. Good luck.
@@LLcoolDel thanks. This song really helped. Your good wishes are much appreciated 👍

I also was 15 that summer of 1969...I turned 16 in October, this song brings back those days, I thought they would never end.

Everything is screwed up now...

I was young but remember this so well...it’s beautiful thank u
They sadly don’t make songs like this anymore.
You've got that right.

@@cinematic35 I agree. It's the feeling it brings to you when you hear it.
They do...But they are few and far between...
It's not just sad that such works of art aren't made anymore. It's a crime against culture.
*Wow.* *If that doesn't take you back to another time and place...*
... woke this morning with this song in my head- so pleasant to revisit it after 50 years!
What a sweet and wonderful song by Oliver. I never tire of hearing this. Thanks so much for making this video!!
Saddest and most beautiful song I have ever heard.

RIP Dame Maggie. This song is from your movie, the prime of Jean Brody. Now, you are forever in God's loving embrace.
Sounds like you are in the studio. So clear. Thank you.
Stunning enhancement and such a wonderful video Kenn. Thanks for making my day :)

It was the theme song to a movie as I recall. Miss Jean Brodie?
The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie
@@erzug How frequently is this song and where in the movie? Is the entire song played in the movie? Was this song written for the movie?

HEAVENLY CLARITY...thanks so much
Great song from a place in my time ;)
Great Job Mate! I'm Loving It!!
Nice video!
Many well known singers covered this song but none could do it as well as Oliver, IMO.
Love him ❤️ 💕 ♥️ 💙
Oliver only had two hits....both in 1969
Define insanity: Raindrops keep falling on my head by Bobby Goldsboro won for Best Song that year(Grammies?). Over Jean . It still is bewildering to me!
Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head was sung by B. J. Thomas. Goldsboro's biggest hit was Honey, which is probably what you are thinking of.
This is rich.
Uma bela canção. Quem está ouvindo em 2020, dá um link,
Like it? I love it!
