Originally, I would’ve simply bought the tickets and kept them for myself until a week before the concert. Then I’d decide who would go with me or if I’m going to sell the tickets. I’d gift someone an invite to a concert, but never concert tickets themselves
And in this scenario, I would’ve sold the tickets. If a concert is deemed so much of a once in a lifetime event that you treat it as more important than paying down or paying off debt, maybe you need to reconsider your priorities. And that goes for everyone. There is no concert in the world worth $200+ per ticket, let alone $4,000+
And in my personal opinion, Taylor Swift is not good enough to charge those prices. Others will disagree, and that’s how supply and demand works. More power to them

I probably would go, especially if I paid retail for something so hot that it's incredibly hard to get them at a normal value. But it also depends on your income and other factors too. If I made 40k with 20k in student loans, yes I'd sell the tickets. 80k income, probably not

i wouldn't just blindly call it debt...
      theres MILESTONES OF LIFE.
and being 22 is literally the milestone called graduation, so yeah another milestone debt is a mortgage, another milestone debt is a car.
some debts need not be incurred but they kinda serve a greater purpose in life.
      1) education helps set you up for better paying jobs
      2) a home is shelter
      3) a car is transportation
the key thing is to NOT blinding rack up higher values on these debts.
save up for a car, get scholarships for education,
so in the grand scheme of life...
live a little but dont run yourself into debt.
like being debt free is "peaceful" but enjoying certain things of life is blissful.
college debt is kinda part of the package called life, as is acquiring mortgage debt.
$600 was wasted, i mean buy T swift tickets again next year and SELL those as a hack. (buy low and sell high) am i right?

Dave broke it down how they should have originally. If they can really get $10k for those tickets, the daughter is effectively taking out a $10k loan to go to a Taylor Swift concert: "If you didn't have Taylor Swift tickets, but had $10k cash, would you spend that money on the tickets or paying off your student loan?"
Kind of the same way when people always ask: "should I pay off my house or invest?" "If your house was paid off, would you take out a mortgage on it to invest?".
The fact that the tickets are in her possession and only cost $600 changes the mindset quite a bit.

I told her it was entirely up to her, that the tickets were hers and so were any potential proceeds. The truth is, you can always go out and earn more money. But, this is kind of like Charlie finding the Golden Ticket in his Chocolate bar. Charlie's Family really needed the money, they were literally destitute. But, Charlie went to the Chocolate Factory. Think of how the story would go of Charlie got the Golden Ticket, and just sold it to buy a new house without having the proper emergency fund in place. Charlie would have to call into Ramsey Solutions and they would tell Charlie to Sell the house, since they would be house poor.
[Not to mention selling tickets above their face value is illegal in some jurisdictions.]

Although financial advice is arbitrary and what works for one person may not work for another, planning is always preferable. I consider myself fortunate to have been introduced to personal finance at a young age. I started working at the age of 19, purchased my first house at the age of 28, was laid off at the age of 36 during the COVID-19 pandemic, and immediately sought advice from an advisor to manage the expansion of my finances. Not the same thing. Family heirloom is one of a kind

@ I don’t think you know how heirlooms work. It’s not uniqueness. It’s sentimental value.

We all know Disney is anti family but they clearly don't know the type of(\m/)junk Tyler does on stage😈

That's funny... I was at Disneyworld with my family in May and it was full of other families making memories together.

Taylor promotes whichcraft!!! Disney supports LGBT!!! People, get some discernment, look into it and protect your kids!!! Aren't these guys christian? And have no clue? Wow! That's sad! 😢

@@joeriveracomedy maybe you should turn off the rage farming right wing media that has convinced you of all the bullshit to make you hate your fellow Americans because they aren't like you. Or perhaps just go live in a monestary and become a monk if freedom offends you so much. Or maybe you'll be happier living the Amish life of a simple man.

    Loving the new WWDD segments!
Good point, it was a gift. All the mother can do is really suggest it, and it is up to the daughter. If it were me, I'd be selling them.
Also agreed, very disappointing that Ken is a closet Swifty.

This was great. I’d love a segment where Dave reacts to and comments on some of these RUclipsrs and ticktockers financial advice.
