I work at a self storage facility. I've been alone for the last few days and sometimes when work gets real quiet, I like to turn on a video of the Librarian to enjoy that creepy and comfy feeling.
I can just picture walking behind some of the boxes on the large shelves into a small little hangout spot with chairs and some other decor to either hangout with fellow coworkers hiding from their jobs or just to watch Chris lol
This sounds rad, as a guy who did night security at a mall back in 2000 I wish I had access to comfy stuff like this, all I had was my cd Walkman and lots of 90s music to keep me occupied haha
For some reason I just imagined a funny horror game where you’re just trespassing in a closed mall trying to avoid the night security guards wandering around. There’s no darker theme whatsoever. The guards aren’t violent or evil, there’s no murder mystery or whatever. If they catch you (with all the suspenseful music you’d expect) they just kick you out and threaten to call the cops or something. You just gotta sneak through the mall without getting spotted in a stray flashlight beam or when a guard suddenly walks off in some random direction after announcing to his friends “Alright, I gotta piss. See ya chumps!”. With your average horror sound effects; I.E. screeching violins, eerie whirring and whatnot it could be kinda tense in a childish misbehaving kinda way.
It can be so hard to explain how I spend my free time, like yes I spent half an hour of my life watching someone explore a pretend empty parking lot, and yes I enjoyed every minute of it, what did you do watch sports or something? Good thing I don’t have any friends 😅
I mean I find these videos therapeutic it's very simple and calm I don't think it's weird at all I mean it's the same thing as listening to a relaxing song or listening to an audiobook I mean if you enjoy it and it is not hurting anybody why should you not watch/listen to it.
I find fauning over sports stats to be mind numbingly boring, most people I know into sports tend to just idolize home team and I get tired of the tribalism side of life as is. As fake as vr exploration videos are I doubt their as fake as the heros people make in the media.
I've spent alot of time exploring gm_mallparking with cop playermodels with my friend. The idea was that me and him were sent to investigate a 911 call in the mallparking that's closed for the night. I always spawned an entity that would chase and kill us (Not right away. It was mostly nextbots) And spawn some ragdolls to imitate dead bodies, as if i and my friend arrived too late to find any survivors of the entity. It was always so cool.
oooh, that idea at the end of the video really got to me. Imagine you finally make it to ground level after HOURS of wandering through the backrooms, and you find yourself in a walled off store. You can hear the hustle and bustle of people just beyond the plywood blocked doors and search desperately for an unlocked door that will finally lead you to freedom. You turn the knob and the crowd noise dies abruptly. You find yourself in an another maze of empty store fronts and storage hallways, with seemingly no way out.
18:40 that's a reference to the song "Toilet" from a band called Clown Core, they're an absolute enigma of a band who pull off some seriously talented instrumental tricks, I love em and couldn't recommend them more
I know exactly what I'm gonna do there... Revs up a 70s muscle car, one minute on the timer, jazzy piano in the background. *The interview begins NOW.*
Malls never inspired strong emotions in me until a dream I had in my late teens, which took place in the back areas of my local mall. Although I can't recall anything creepy actually happening, it filled me with a sense of unease that accompanied every subsequent visit to the mall in real life. This map captures that feeling perfectly. Also, lol at the "COLD DRINKS" sign at 5:20 😆
This and GM_Ashpit genuinely gave me a panic attack the first time I tried them. I know that's not positive, but my god were they honestly just horrifying in an indescribable way. The hallways of Ashpit were what did it in that map, I remember particularly I was on a second floor of a far out building. I had just gotten into a room with a baby I think and I heard a scrape of a footstep behind me, though that could've been an auditory hallucination, and it was just so viscerally disturbing that I genuinely just couldn't continue the map. And Mall_Parking, I had to leave in the parking garage when I heard the people in the party. I felt sick. Like there were the apparitions of guests nearby waiting for me, but I'd never reach them. Probably just paranoia, but my god was it impactful. Haven't had an experience like them on any map bar those two before or since.
Love your vids man! I’ve been subbed to you since you had close to 23k and I’m so glad you got the attention your vids deserve! They are awesome and help me sleep sometimes or I just have them play to help me do boring tasks around the house but I always watch everyone you put out! So relaxing from all the craziness on earth.
Thankfully we have a live mall close by that is still thriving. Online shopping is a gamble and I think eventually more people will go back to physical shopping once they've had enough of buying things they see online and getting something they didn't buy.
It's more up to whether the market's owners feel people would care enough that it would make enough of a difference in cost to them. There'll probably always be some kind of in-person shopping, but it'll probably not be quite the scale that it was prior to online shopping. Both have their place, just when in person retail was the only option, it had huge value and enormous means.
I had issues packing content as well. I realized that you have to first extract the files from the VPK of the game you're borrowing from. To make it easier, just extract all of the models, materials, etc., and place them in their respective folders in the game's directory.

if by some strange twist of fate you ended up owning this building, no rent, no needing to pay for water or electricity, they just stay on because deactivating them would cause more expensive problems for the city than the cost to simply leave them active... how would you decorate this building? I saw spme premium house spots, and some excellent places to throw parties. if I were rich enough to just outright buy the mall near my house and just convert it into a mansion it would be the coolest hangout spot in the city. I would create the ultimate haunted house tour when halloween rolls around.
I've only just made it to 8:01 in the video, and something I noticed in the... weird looking store front... there was a *lot* of details that... wouldn't make sense in *any* case... except one... either something was *trying* to recreate a place made by humans without having any proper context of the thing humans have made... or the *place itself* is trying to mimic others with that same kind of knowledge... and is somehow alive...
