During drill and certain ceremonies, LCPLs are allowed to wear the NCO sword. during the ceremony they are usually given a billet like "Groomsman NCO" which sounds ridiculous... but allows them to wear the sword.

I feel sorry for the morons who made stupid, uncalled for comments on this page. Perhaps if they returned to school and made it past the third grade their vocabulary might improve.

@PhoenixImmortal18 I was AF honor guard back in '06 and when it came to the final swords being brought down the guy closest to the bridge would slap her rear and he says "Welcome to the (insert military branch here)" It's a tradition for all military weddings with a sword cordon.

@SEAL1990Blaze Not really sloppy. Sword drill isn't like marching drill, just like weapons drill isn't like marching drill. Some of the commands are meant to be done in unison and others you are allowed to do at your own pace.

"The sword's use is restricted by regulation to ceremonial occasions by an NCO or Staff NCO in command of troops under arms or at weddings and wedding receptions where at least one of those being married is in uniform and has the rank of Corporal or higher."
Whoever taught the drill needs to look into the 5060. Why is the command "Cover" given when there is no second or third squad? On the preparatory command "Parade", all swords are "Pushed" to approximately 3 inches off the deck then eased down after the command of execution "Rest".
