One CGW-500 as my daily watch and 8 other in my collection. This is the watch I chose to wear on a daily basis 15 years ago. And I've never regretted my choice. I don't want an Omega, nor a Breitling, I just want my Cosmo Phase on my wrist. And I'm happy...
I love it, I’m up to (2) CGW-500’s, (3) CGW-91’s, (1) CGW-50, (2) GMW-62’s (1) GMW Rookie and (1) GMW-steel w/ gold screws. These two are the best watches Casio ever made. It’s the perfect complication for a watch, it just makes sense. And the fact that it’s going to work until 2200, truly amazing.
For some reason I never stumbled upon your channel in the last 7 years on watch RUclips. I found you today and have been watching and consuming your videos all day long. Really the channel I’ve Been missing, the history of watches and horology. I love it
I honestly never thought that once I'd finished my education I'd still want to learn, but colour me wrong, I really enjoyed this mate and learnt a lot. It's incredible that our ancestors were just as obsessed with space and time as we are. Great work.
Fantastic review as always! Such a fascinating history. My late father was an amateur astronomer and built his own telescopes from the housing, the mirrors and engines. He would have liked to have a watch such as this. Thank you again for your upload. 😊
Thankyou so much! I can definitely tell how people could get pulled down the astronomy rabbit hole - even after just a couple of weeks looking into it. It’s the daddy of horology after all!
What a watch review! This video really felt next level Gordon! Absolutely amazing work 👏👏👏👏 I think the Cosmo Phase is up there now for me with the Sky Walker and the Surfing Timer as the watches I’d most love to see Casio reissue one day.
Mine does weird things when I put a battery in it. It started showing eclipse dates that were outside of the range of what it is supposed to show. So there may be more programmed into it. If they did do a reissue I would like it to have a bigger face.
Fantastic! Amazing what this little Casio made you think up. Beautiful watch and even more valuable as it is in stainless steel. Enjoyed your thoughts at the end, especially in these times, it is important to think of these things, and to keep looking up! hanks again my friend for all your hard work in bringing us entertainment and enlightenment.
A really fascinating video providing history and horology and its part in watches and clocks today. Keep up the good work that you do. I really enjoyed this.
As a mechanical engineer I absolutely love these clocks. Its super complex and perhaps something that I want to build one day just as a technical showpiece...
Between your video and TTWC's Zero West video, I'm going to bed way smarter tonight! Amazingly entertaining and educational. Thanks for following your muse for these videos!
I know it's gonna be good, even before watching it. Nice job. Lets hope that Casio reissues this and in enough numbers that it doesn't sell out in 5 minutes.
Amazing video mate, such alot of the world in this timepeice. Congratulations too on your excellent example, the custodian angle is an interesting wrinkle, I've recently aquired a Trench watch on the condition that I restore it, 99 years old and still here, which is more than I'll make.....
I've saving this video to cheer me up on a bad day, and today that day finally arrived. First, congratulations on that amazing find, a cosmophase in mint condition is undoubtely a grial watch for any casio fan. Second, your research and video was outstanding, as usual. You really outdone yourself this time. Although I think that all watches are meant to be worn, I would be terrified to use this jewel in real life... Anyway, thanks a lot for sharing your content, this video really helped today
I think it’s more about seeing where the planets are relative to one another. It’s the same principle of how to use an orrery (there are a few guides on this )
@@IlluminatingWatches Although... I had one in the 1990s and when walking with friends at night, if one pointed at the sky and asked "what planet is that?" I could orient my watch given the Earth-Sun angle and confidently call out "Jupiter!" Okay, not much of a feat as it was either Jupiter or Saturn (Mars is kinda obvious), but it's something I fondly remember. That watch died eons ago, but I did pick up a replacement on eBay years ago, as well as the nightstand version.
U should mention that these watches wear a lot smaller than they appear on screen or print. They are smaller than baby g shocks...well,if u would take a baby g..remove the bezel and streamline the casing it would be the same size. All these round "graph" watches(moon graph, cosmo graph,tri-graph and penta graph) are the same size
If you like this video - you may enjoy the more specific video I did on Moon watches -> ruclips.net/video/3WCrTdY0fmk/видео.html

Ha ha Thankyou! Good way to rationalise being so obsessed with watches - it’s in our DNA!
You've finished your government-mandated education, and possibly some higher education. You never finish your education. You are always learning.

Thanks so much man! I’m really glad I’ve sold you on the charms of the Cosmo phase. Great watch and good excuse to learn some astronomy! 🪐 🔭

This needs a reissue more than any other Casio watch.
I agree! It’s always my answer to the question of which casio should be reissued
This and the Moon Graph. Ideally both with a good illumination. I would buy a reissue in a heartbeat.
What a well thought, researched and made vid. Amazing job, honestly.
That’s so kind of you to say - Thankyou! Hopefully i can keep them coming!
my favorite thing about RUclips is that niece topics find a platform to thrive
Ha ha thanks. Not sure it’s thriving - but I enjoy making the videos regardless!

This video has so much information in it that I can't get enough awesome work mate
Ha ha yes just a massive brain dump of all the stuff I’ve been reading for the last couple of weeks . Thankyou!

Thankyou! I really enjoyed making this one!!
This watch need a come back.
I sure love the history and research in these videos. Really great stuff!
Thanks man! Enjoying your videos too!

I absolutely loved learning about orrerys in particular. The cosmo phase was a great excuse for me to look into it all!
@@IlluminatingWatches I can imagine! Hope you have a great day!
A very nice watch and time piece of history. Cheers for the planet Pluto.
Long live planet Pluto :)
Fantastic video! Thank you for the history and the time invested!
Thankyou! I’m so glad you enjoyed!
How many hobbies can met on the digital watch camp? There is literally something for everyone, technology is a blessing and a curse.
So many angles in watches! I never run out of topics!
A great entertaining and informative video. Wearing this watch does make you think of the bigger picture.
Thanks so much for taking a look. Love your channel and watched all your videos!

That dam busters vid was great!! Thanks much appreciated!!
Absolutely fantastic. What an amazing watch! Keep up the great content mate 😊
Thankyou!! Much appreciated !

You really go above and beyond. No pun intended! 😀
To infinity and beyond! Very kind :)

Another banger of a video! Love it and the awesome watch
Thankyou! Seems to have gone down well!
so much infos! Many thanks for sharing! Very hard work! Great!
Thankyou!
@@IlluminatingWatches you are welcome!
You should do a video on the most valuable / sought after digital watches
An excellent idea!!
another awesome video!
Thankyou so much!
So cool, they should re release this bad boy
Totally! No idea why they haven’t!
Thanks! Brilliant!
I see you are working through the back catalog!
Just stumble someone online selling his CGW-90 for roughly 120$ few months ago, definetly one of the best impulse purchase I've ever did 😂
Very educating, keep up good content. What is the plan for the future?
Few different videos I want to make. Ricoh watches , Brazil digital watches, Indian watches and enicar are on my list :)
The world's best astronomical watch
Agreed!!
Mind boggling😯😁
I hope in a good way!
i still have mine is awesome

Sad to hear about rubbish day, but happy to hear the cosmophase brightened it a little. Your comments are very appreciated - worked hard on this one!!
why they've not added this feature to the rangeman. i duno. lol.
We need to lobby casio!
@@IlluminatingWatches so much more futuristic!
But I don't understand how to use it, how to correlate that info with the night sky

Damn they are expensive
Yep - it’s one of the more sought after models :( needs reissuing !
