WHOA!!!! Kathy, I bow to your superior artisty skils!!!! I figured that I could find such a tutorial online and lo and behold....JUST FABULOUSLY BRILLIANT!!! Nothing beats "ye olde fashioned" model making over CGI effects!!!!
Amazing......................Thank you for reminding me why I subscribe to a diorama maker's channel.........while I have only a passing interest in dioramas themselves, I have a deep appreciation for creative and inspired artisans..................you obviously tick all the boxes and watching your dedication to the minutia along with your clear and entertaining voice over ratchet up the enjoyment factor...........Thank You!
Kathy when you changed the rock surface to the angular flatter method it tied in with your polygon columns beautifully. What you did with the LEDs, wire, plastic strip, cotton wool and paint layers is astonishing. I could see you using this method to make lava flows etc from Mount Doom. Wonderful stuff KM, but yes in saying that cotton is highly flammable, and it only takes a spark or too to ignite it. Handy for camping to get a fire going to cook the beans for a Blazing Saddles moment, lol.
Been waiting a while for this one after you mentioned it in the previous Halo diorama, definitely worth that wait. Took me straight back to the original Halo multiplayer and just driving Warthogs off every available cliff, jump, enemy skull. The explosion really makes it look complete and it was a really cool way of creating it!
Hello Kathy. So much energy and movement. Wonderful. Great video with lots of tips and techniques. With wonderful results. As always, I look forward to your next episode. Bye. Take care.
Thanks Kathy, the advice on the thermoplastic couldn't have come at a better time. I'm planning a cartoon explosion of the Crash Pit from Regular Show, and I was stumped! Thanks also for the LED advice. It all looks awesome. Kev.
Absolute fantastic build, the explosion effect is superb. I also like that you always show the bits that don't always go right first time but there's a work round solution.👍
Hi Kathy, another stunning diorama, particularly liked the mud splatters on the front of the warthog, never occurred to me that it could be done so simply, the explosion looks amazing , almost like you could burn yourself on it, looking forward to the water-splash diorama with the small buggy, got a headful of ideas, hopefully, I'll get round to doing something constructive before long, anyway, stay safe, all the best from Scotland, Stephen.
Looks great! I wouldn't worry too much about the white coming through - it can be a bit of a brighter explosion. I have a 1/72 pink "flying cloud" [from the "Monkey Magic" TV series] that uses an LED and cotton wool to get the glowing effect. Saw a diorama of a kamikaze attack that used similar techniques, and also used optic fibres to make sparks/burning debris within the cloud also.
I'm so glad I stumbled onto this channel. You really need to add links to your channel videos. Because you are *literally* the second person I've found that can claim their Art pieces as 'Realistic'. You and Luke Towan. All the others are not quite there yet. So it's annoying. But your work is just stunning, and your videos are enjoyable to watch.
Looks great, makes a very interesting mood light! would love to see you attempt some kind of blue explosion for a plasma blast if you keep making halo builds
...oh, it's a car from a computer game, now I understand. I was all set to compare your exploding warthog to the field of exploding sheep my mate Mad Ian created whilst dynamiting tree stumps in Straya. That ended up a weird kind of christmas vibe, lots of red, green and white everywhere and a powerful aroma of roasted lamb. I wasn't there, but he did show me his video of what happens when you set off a hundred twenty tree stumps at once instead of one after the other. Found myself thinking 'that's a bit grim for a Kathy Millatt! Then I thought, or is it only, as far as we know?! Perhaps all these dioramas have seceret aspects full of astonishing gore and mutilation, hidden away from our eyes... Probably not. Although now I wonder about doing a scene from The Blob - be an interesting problem to solve. Anyhoo.... I am not certain, but I am neatly certain, 90% certain that I'm 95% certain that the trick with melting hot metal into 3D printing is a filiament print thing only. Fairly sure the resin prints are not thermoset plastics, and I dunno exactly what would happen if you poked a hot screw into that stuff, but almost everything you do do to it ends up exceedingly bad for ya, so, probably best not to. Err on the side of caution or the Galactic Empire if available. Probably. Nice one, though, as always. :-)
I'm two years late to this video; just curious what ever became of this diorama, Kathy? Is it still on display in your home? Did you give it away or sale it? Great work (as always).
Hi kathy hope your ok and having a blast playing halo infinite like me! Haha! I was wondering whether you would be up for doing a halo podcast with me which ever day you had free and a time in the evening on my channel would love to have you on ill leave it with you let me know 😃
Can't wait for the campaign!!!
Me too. Taking a couple of days off to play it!
WHOA! That looks fiery and loud!
Kickass build, captures the essence of the game perfectly. Lost count of all the handy weathering tips, awesome work Kathy. 😎👍
WOW, what an explosion! That came out awesome. Thanks for sharing, David

It was so cool to make an explosion. You’ll love doing one!

Thank you so much!
You never cease to amaze me, this is so next level!
Great video! Halo infinte is so fun and it was your other halo diorama that got me to notice your content.
Even with the lights off i imagine it looks insanely cool
It does! It’s pride of place in my lounge.
I don't care for the game but these builds of yours are AMAZING
Wow! That was mind blowing and it looks smashing.
Brilliant video and well constructed too Kathy , well done
The illuminated explosion cloud is probably one of the most exciting build techniques I've seen this year. This was so well done! Thanks for sharing!
I was so excited about how it came out and how easy it was!

@@KathyMillatt If I lived near you Kathy, I'd love to come to visit and see you working hands on, but I am probably too far away in Belfast.
you create the sort of work that I just love, but don't have the patience to do myself.
this is amazing
what a awesome looking build diorama

Thanks Kev and good luck with your explosion.
Looks stunning
Bloody awesome explosion

I loved this video! I plan on using this to make some explosions for my pictures. Thank you
Brilliant. I hope it goes well.
Always a pleasure to watch you videos Kathy, thank you.

Excellent results, makes me want to play Halo
This looks so good I've liked it before I've seen the video 💯💯💯
Wow! I found you from train model vids, but great fun to follow your work! subscribed!
I can imagine your SO saying "For God's sake Kathy... Not another one" lol excellent work as usual.
This turned out awesome!
This is so cool. What a tremendous job!
simply awesome! just looks epic
Excuse the pun, but that explosion looks so fire. Just awesome
Absolutely brilliant. Love Halo, just bought the Xbox halo edition.
Such a great talent.
Wow wow wow! Your work is awesome!😁
Awesome! Pure action.
Impressive!!!
Love the explosion!!!
It came out awesome, I love it.😍😍😍😍😍
Another awesome diorama.
Hi Kathy, What a bad ass awesome build , must have taken a few weeks love it, (could feel the heat from here , keep Safe , All the Best Brian 🤗😎😍
Thanks Brian. Three weeks all in.
Need to add a small fan to the lighting for heat! Awesome build!
Definitely need to do something.

I tried the fibre optics but they weren’t bright enough compared to the rest of the explosion so I didn’t add them in the end.
Such a cool piece! Incredible work as always :D
Thank you Kathy. 👍🏻
Thats awesome great job very effective
Kathy you are amazing
Awesome effects
wow. stunning!!!
when you said exploding warthog in your other vid I thought you meant the actual animal !!! (ive never played halo) great dio though ;) *thumbs up*
looks good keep up the good vid thanks lee
Incredible!
You are so very talented x
Thanks!
spectacular.
Now this is why I subbed

wow love this
Awesome! Have you seen Finch? Would love to see a post apocalyptic scene.
I haven’t seen it and thanks!

The 3D prints do have to be filament.
"Dirty it up!" merch, anyone?
All that is missing is the sound.🤣 You must have had a blast doing this. And they say kids now days are thinking destructive? 🤔
yh the second half is missing sound for me too but great diorama anyway
I'm two years late to this video; just curious what ever became of this diorama, Kathy? Is it still on display in your home? Did you give it away or sale it? Great work (as always).
It’s on my hearth in my lounge. I like it too much to get rid of it but it’s big!
Awesome. You are without doubt the hottest geek on the web ♥️
Doesn't look like it will work well when you just see the bare LED's, but wow it is awesome, when finally done. Could do with a blue (sky) background.
I thought the same at bare LED stage. I do need to get a bigger sky background as this is larger than all of mine.
I love halo 4
So do I!
Wonder how you might get lumps of caked mud rather than just a 2 dimension layer of paint?
I don’t follow I’m afraid? You can use pigments or grout to build up thicker layers.
Cool
Great job Whay Brand 9f paint and Brushes you use
I used whatever’s around but I airbrush lacquers which need full mask and booth etc as they stink.
Hahaha this is bloody awesome
Were those threaded incerts cable connectors?
Knurled nuts. I got mine on Amazon but they’re made for filament 3D prints.
This is my comment to appease the great algorithm
👍👍👍

I would like to see your take on a pelican crash diorama but that may be too wishful
It may come…. I do have one on the shelf.
How can I buy this? haha
Wait until I run out of room!
@@KathyMillatt at this point it should be almost full 🤔🤣
It pretty much is!
