I want this to just be a mod where your walking in a normal minecraft world and all of the sudden you just see in the distance a larger then life pointless structure

@Abyss_HeartedTerraria genuinely can't do this though, because although there certainly are random cool structures and large bosses, there's never anything absolutely megalithic, and even if there was you wouldn't be able to appreciate it because the 2D perspective would make it impossible to actually see enough of it to get that feeling, since you cant really see things "in the distance".

Agreed, but for a wildly different reason. The way the wheat just stops immediately at the threshold of the arch is really ominous. Realistically it would grow a little ways inside before not getting enough sunlight, but here it just ends instantly

I feel like a big reason why scale starts to feel like it doesn’t matter when things get too big is because there isn’t something to compare it to. With some cinematography and some tall mountains that look tiny in comparison this could look insanely megalophobic.

For me, what makes megalophobia hit the most is when it's an unrealistically large object surrounded by regular sized objects. Its why my favorite parts of this video are when the builds are placed in a regular world. They just look out of place and its unsettling yet fascinating

I definitely experienced some megalophobia during this. For me, it feels kinda like a "weak" background panic attack, where I can feel my heart tensing up, but my mind is still clear. I feel like it's closer to a variation of awe than pure panic attack

I had the exact same thought. Fidelity is good, there's little to no filler, the humour adds rather than subtracts from the experience, the narration is clear and easy to follow.
It also sits in just the right place between "completely unedited Minecraft build showcase [Unregistered Hypercam 2]" and "film student trying to turn his Minecraft build into an award winning documentary/video essay"

A couple years ago I tried making a massive multiple thousand block building based off of etienne louis boullee's drawings of concepts he had for architecture. A couple of years ago I also tried building a massive 1k blocks x 1k blocks wide building and kinda gave up on it, but after a year or so I picked it up again and completed it and I think it was worth it, so I'd highly encourage you to give your build a second try. If you need any advice, feel free to ask ;)

I agree with what you said at 0:54. I think all three of those things are related because they create a feeling of powerlessness. You cannot leave the hell that is the backrooms, cannot escape the mental deterioration of dementia, and cannot do anything against an object so large. It’s like the fear of death. Death is so scary because it lasts forever. Death is inescapable, unstoppable, and HUGE.
I’ve died in dreams lots of times and the sensation of dread feels just like megalophobia
