    WELCOME BACK, Brother!!!
    I can't wait for your tutorial because I could use help with Gen 3. I am ESPECIALLY stuck with the I/O for my 500 series rack, because my UAD X8p had NO problem pushing audio through it, but i'm having issues registering a signal from the Orion 32+

    Hi. The buffer size limit for the Antelope Orion 32+ Gen 4 depends on the configuration of its driver bundle. When using the firmware option supporting 128 channels via Thunderbolt, the maximum buffer size is 512 samples. Alternatively, in the configuration for 64 channels, the maximum buffer size increases to 1024 samples.

    Very good reviews and very Honest :) I have been working with the Orion studio for over a year and its been very stable and reliable... Not sure i would be looking at upgrading until these issues are ironed out with both the Orion 32 gen 4 nd the control surface which you also reviewed.

      @@fadygergis I have a 9.1.6 Atmos studio using Focal st range and you can hear the difference with the Antelope very clearly :) I was always on at them two years ago to make a control interface for Atmos and also update the software in their currant range to allow Atmos :) But think they won't do this as they want to sell the new units :(

    • @fadygergis
      @fadygergis  Год назад

      @user-jz1yr9oj9z agreed. They are pushing the Gen4 for Atmos. But also they updated the converters on the Gen 4 to match the galaxy converters which is their high end line.

    Hi Fady, just to clarify you can go lower than 512 buffer size, just not 1024? What is the lowest buffer setting at 48kHz? This video came at the perfect time as Im looking to expand to a hybrid workflow and analog summing. I was looking at getting an apollo x16 to pair with my x8p, but the cost for I/O is way too much. To get similar I/O with UAD you would need to spend about $8k on 2 x16, and I dont really use UAD plugins or the dsp
    Btw, that speaker tuning bult-in is genius, not sure if antelope is the first to do it but I can see everyone else copying that feature

    • @fadygergis
      @fadygergis  Год назад +3

      Yes correct you can go lower but not higher.
      My sources said that they are working on a firmware upgrade that would eventually allow it to go to 1024 by decreasing the I/O but I don’t believe it till I see it 🤷‍♂️

    • @camshash
      @camshash Год назад

      @@fadygergis Gotcha, would love to see a breakdown of the Monitor tuning. I asked antelope and they said it processes the signals in realtime so you can track with it on, unlike a trinnov where it adds a decent amount of latency. I'm very interested in this since it's just and eq and can be used to account for 3db or so peaks/nulls in your room that you cant seem to fix with acoustic treatment

    Thanks, really useful video. I've just bought the Gen 4 - I don't think I will have the same problem as you as I tend to record more traditionally (used to 24 tracks) so, I think the largest thing I've ever done is like 40 tracks plus inserts. I am running everything through an analogue desk, hence wanting the ins and outs that the Gen 4 provides. Hopefully all will be fine!

    Hi! I have had serious Mac driver problems with Tb2 connection in 2017-18 with my Discrete8 (although I found its sound superior to anything I heard before), so I had to return it to seller. I mean, sometimes Launcher didn’t launch, sometimes I realized that Afx plugins stuck and even if I changed parameters, it didn’t follow it soundwise. Have you experienced any similar glitches?

  • @Panda9536
    @Panda9536 10 месяцев назад

    Thanks for your review! I'm totally sold on the Orion Gen 4 converters - the quality is top-notch! I was super pumped to invest in it. However, I'm reading too much concerns about Antelope's quality control and their ability to solve issues (i.e the dedicated FB user group). It's a dealbreaker for me. I'm at a crossroads where I might have to sacrifice I/O and converter quality for more stability and updated sustainability. I don't want to spend most of my days fixing issues; vs focusing on recording and mixing music...

    • @fadygergis
      @fadygergis  10 месяцев назад +1

      I also have concerns about Antelopes sloppy software approach. I bought a Pure2 a year ago and it's quality is amazing. However the Mac OS version of the associated software has mistakes on it and it's clear from my emails with Antelope they have no intention of fixing it. Interesting too that the Sound On Sound review of the Orion 32 Gen3 (SOS September 2019) criticises the associated software. So much as I would love an Orion 32, I just can't risk it.

    Thank you! I'm a home studio musician on 32 Gen 1 and lots of outboard gear, so have been imagining I would eventually grab a Gen 3 for more analog I/O and better converters. Now I have the chance to grab a Gen 1 Crane Song Avocet at a fantastic price which for me is mostly about its D/A conversion. But this Gen 4 would be a significant converter improvement for me plus needed I/O. Do you have an opinion about how this Gen 4 converters might compare to the Avocet?
