I think its useful in some ways. I would pay for it to make my account immediately stand out to other users. Thats really about it.
I believe its worth it, not only does it add to your accounts protection but it allows for better marketing if I say the blue check on anything im drawn to it.

I feel like this might reduce the value of the verification badge. Anyone can pay a monthly subscription to get a blue tick mark next to their profile. Earlier you needed to put in the work and grow your account to go through the verification process.
The check mark lost it's value a long time ago. There isn't a rhyme or reason to how it was given.

@@adamivy yes and that was bacause they had no ogranic reach anymore with the introduction of reels. No you have to pay to get organic reach. Organic reach should be free. Help and assistance should be free ! This doesn't make any sense. What if we would have to pay to call the cops or ambulance ?

The badge doesn’t even matter. If you have a business, you will get increased reach. If you’re a photographer, tattoo artist, barber, etc. It’s worth it.

Not everyone can buy it....i thing at least you have to be someone artist actor musician etc... i tried to get so many times the verification on ig the last time they denied me again but... 1 hour later they pop up me on ig get it via meta and i did it.... i mean im a singer i have google panel spotify soundcloud wikipedia etc... so i get it but i dont think every person can have it...if they do all then the badge will be something with no value
Not gonna pay Facebook a dollar. Their lack of support is SHAMEFUL, and I'm about to get into legal claims because I got locked out of my account too and can't recover my data. I hope people doesn't bite on this one.

Thank you for this Adam. This is a great explanation. I think this is actually a good thing simply to discourage the scammers and impersonators. It has gotten so out of hand. But Meta definitely needs to keep artists/bands in mind. I work with some big RUclipsrs who work very hard to keep their actual name private, because fans will literally find their address and show up at their front door. The name thing will definitely be a problem.
The problem is that these days we all need to be on several apps and to use several other services for content creation, recording, artwork etc. It all adds up to too much when they all want these extra subscriptions.
As a artist it sounded like a good Idea but my problem is having my full name in my bio & they say you can abbreviate or use nicknames but they definitely don’t let you

This seems like an active case study. Studying what will happen when you give people a check mark exclusive from the general public. Then 10 years later make that check mark available to everyone.

Hopefully they are matching by the account full name and not the artist name or handle. I use an artist name on all my social accounts. But I think this is brilliant! Too many hackers stealing and creating fake accounts. On another note, I have seen angry posts by certain influencers and artist getting mad because they worked really hard to get the blue check mark. There’s truth on that. They feel robbed. It would be cool to give them a different colored check mark for their efforts and blue for those paying for it!
If you worked hard to advance in your career you should be proud of that and not because of a blue check mark. What's wrong with people.

Instagram being paid, I don't see it as a problem, because the company is private and they can do whatever they want with their app! the biggest problem I see is the fact that Instagram doesn't deliver your content to people who already follow you! and I don't see anyone talking about it! will this verified account deliver the content to 100% of the accounts that follow you?
Long gone are the days where these platforms will deliver 100% of your content to your fans to your followers without you paying for it. It's unfortunate but it's just the way things are now. We can't expect much from platform giving us free accounts.

Nope. So much nope. There’s literally no reason at all to pay for the headache of dealing with such a broken “service” from something as past tense as Facebook.
Isn’t gonna be a zero operation if literally everyone can do it for a couple of bucks in a month ? More exposure for smaller accounts sounds great but there are Millions if not Billions of small accounts that would want to benefit from this, meaning the social media noise intensities wil remain the same no ? Too bad they almost immediately took back the part about getting increased reach. The main problem I have with all this pod verification BS is that they keep changing the rules, cost and benefits every other week. The whole “for your account protection” line is BS, the whole “get direct support” is BS they just give you canned responses via email, not actual human support. It’s all a money grab
