    I hope people learn the following from this video: if you're stuck in traffic, PLEASE don't hug the shoulders so any emergency vehicles can respond quickly. It may be YOUR loved one they are trying to save.

    • @a20axf
      @a20axf 3 года назад +8

      This advice however doesn’t apply to Germany, they go between the lanes. It does seem to create more space but, they ensure drivers are taught what to do in those situations. So they automatically pull over to the side of the road when there’s a traffic jam just in case they need to allow emergency vehicles through.

    Good driving, I've been on similar types of runs myself. At least you didn't have an idiot pull out in front of you at the last second. Luckily when it happened to me a deputy was behind me. The driver of the car got an ear full and a ticket. We had some great officers at times if they got on scene before us and an exit ramp was close by they would alert dispatch and tell us to go down the off ramp. Always try to keep good relationships with the LEOs they'll help you out when they can.

      @@BradleyPetrohoy Makes good sense from a safety standpoint. I wonder what the value is of running Code in the fast lane at less than the speed limit. Knowing traffic is backing up behind the emergency vehicle, and knowing people are jockeying for position switching lanes and trying to pass each other, I wonder if the firetruck is more of a traffic hazard in this situation. If so, maybe Code 1 in the middle or right lane is appropriate until running up on traffic. I am not criticizing. Just thinking.

    In that aspect I'm kind of happy that we can switch off the siren on our own responsibility; Quite often light traffic allows us to make only minimum use of the siren, if at all. And as long as we're slower than the posted speed limit and flow of traffic I will usually move over to the middle lane (as long as I can proceed there without slowing down due to vehicles ahead) to let faster traffic pass me
