    In GERMANY we name it "Rettungsgasse" or in English emergenyc lane... If someone don't reacts quick it's costs 2000€ or you can go to jail for 1 year ! When the Traffic jam beginns the motorway with 2,3 or 4 lanes every driver must make a " Rettungsgasse " the left lane must drive to the left and the other right lanes must drive to right. Sorry for my bad English I'm from germany

      LP und mehr Motorrad Polizei Do you dream now right?

    I found that when traffic is stopeed, they do want to help but are panicked. Gefting off the siren off and on and saying on the PA and giving instructions, like "cars on the left move left, cars on the right move right" works very well. There is a reaosn why most sound system have a PA, use it.

    In Denmark, we also got a highway with an emergency-lane for the emergency-vehicles to rush by all the traffic.
    If i remember correctly, the law in Denmark also says that, if the crossing-light is red, but an emergency vehicle needs to use it, all vehicle at that place are allowed to ignore the red light, so they can give space for the emergency-vehicle to rush by.

    Im not trying to make fun or bash any technique used in responding, this is solely out of curiousity:
    Why do you choose to split the traffic instead of going up the shoulder? Is it a liability issue or just a preference? I know some departments choose the shoulder. I know in this case, you are going to take the same route through as the apparatus in front of you. Good response and thank you for the video.

    what exactly do volunteer fire depts do?

    • @robertmahoney5523
      @robertmahoney5523 4 года назад +2

      Same thing as full time department, we respond to emergency calls. The only difference between a full time fire dept and volunteer fire dept is that full time firefighters are paid and firehouses are staffed 24/7, while volunteers don't get paid and stations are not manned 24/7. Volunteers usually respond to fire calls from wherever they are at. Home, work, the store, restaurants, etc. That's how it is for over 70% of the US fire service.

    Do they not have hard shoulders in the states or something

    • @Species1571
      @Species1571 4 года назад

      You can clearly see the hard shoulder. Even here in the UK, emergency services tend not to use the hard shoulder and will approach in the middle, pushing traffic to both sides, unless both lanes are completely jammed with nowhere to go, then you will see them go to the hard shoulder.

      The shoulder might have rumble strips I think that’s why they didn’t drive on it
