And u bet i saw at least 5 pickup trucks, SUV's responding too the scene of a a multiple residential. And i bet they had at least 8 different services responding for mutual aid. Almost every color fire truck you could imagine, it was there. Makes ya feel good when they have your six. And please dont get me wrong, you can tell in seconds, how bad it is, when you hear their voices. And if you hear State asking, where're they at, or the Sheriff's Department starts asking, you may want to step it up. I'm fine with clearing an intersection, but you csnt go anywhere, until that officer takes off. I just said that would bug the sh_t out of me!
@@rickk.2912 I wasn’t trying to make the officer speed up. Common practice when there are 2 emergency vehicles in close proximity is to alert people to the fact of the second vehicle. I wasn’t sure how soon he was going to pull out and I didn’t want anyone else to hit me because the officer had passed. I didn’t turn my siren off because he was in front of me. I wouldn’t expect the police officer to turn off his siren because I was in front of him either. It is taught at least in my area to be extra vigilant when you’re second in line. Everything in my state is directly approved by state laws. Also I figured my horns were louder at that point anyway.
With this sort of setup I image some people probably expect a wholesale engine to come blowing past, only to see your truck. Kinda badass really, I love it.

Thanks for the comment. I am a super whacker at heart. I have specifically designed my system to handle the electrical loads placed by my air compressor and Q. The conflict is real and I mostly install these things so I can say that it is possible!!!
Ahhh the storied rivalry between cops and firemen. Lol my dad was a fireman and my uncle was a deputy sheriff. We always had interesting Thanksgiving and christmas dinners at my grandparents house. 😁
The best response I ever had and I I was so excited that I te everyone haha. I live south of the fire station and there is a 4 way stop between my home amd the department. I was traveling north toward the 4way. State police was going east to west and the county office was traveling north to South. We all got to the 4 way about 10 second apart. Each until crossed the 4way one after another. It was something you had to be there but it was a cool visual
Thats wild, here in NY we are limited to blue lights and not audible warning. I can imagine when a general alarm fire comes in there and you hear these Q's screaming from every direction heading to the firehouse.
This gave me the chills because I've grown up with this and this is what I'm going to do next year and my nephew is following me and Becoming a Firefighter when he's older

It blows my mind that this is allowed in certain parts of the county. When I was a reserve firefighter in California back in the mid-90s, I had to obey the traffic and speed laws even while responding to emergency calls because we were not allowed to put emergency equipment into personally owned vehicles.
Right, and the KEY word there is RESERVE. Which implies there is a duty crew of some sort. Here there are NO RESERVES and no duty crews. We are it… this is our district and it’s up to us to protect it. I respond to everything from fire alarms to drug overdoses to heart attacks to structure fires from my house. Some runs I go directly to the scene. Some runs are to the station to get the engine/quint/rescue rolling.

Some things came from facebook in the “emergency warning lights for sale” group. Some of it came from Sirennet. Com. Some of it came from other firefighters on my department. The majority came from facebook. They have the best deals. Don’t buy knock off lights from China. Stuck with American companies. Whelen, Sound off. Federal Signal and Feinex are all companies I use. You must have a strong alternator and battery if your truck can handle an actual Federal Q lol. Love the set up! What kind of lightbar do you run? I run a good ol’ Code 3 MX7000, the rotators and intersection sweeps are my favorite.
That’s awesome. Actually I am running a stock alternator. Part of my mission of putting a Q on my truck was figuring out a way to wire it up correctly and simply. So my Q runs off 2 extra batteries while my foot switch is on, and it recharges those 2 batteries while the foot switch is off. That way there is no big drain on your alternator.
@@code3responsevideos872 Good set up! I called Federal once to find out the startup current on a Q. They couldn't tell me, but the running load was 160 amps IIRC. Probably not much difference between the startup current and a dead short! Even the running load is 0.075 ohms !
Yes so I have 2 batteries in the trunk and they power the Q. It’s mounted behind the grille on my f150. The way it’s wired up when I press the Q foot switch it unhooks the battery bank from the vehicles alternator. This way it doesn’t overtax the electrical system with the 100 amp load. This was in Kentucky. So if the lights are on, sirens are on as well. It depends on what state you're in since it varies from state to state
