  • You may have not thought about cleaning your fresh water tank but it is necessary. Keeping mold, mildew, or anything that could contaminate your fresh water is not as hard as it may seem. I go over a simple method of which I go about doing this very thing and how easy it is for you.

Whatever hose you are using to fill the fresh water tank, pour the amount of bleach needed directly into that hose. Just fill the tank half way, then pour the bleach into the hose then fill the tank completly. No other devices are needed and it will help to sanitize your fresh water hose.

When it comes to the static testing of propane tanks, fill locally such as farmer's co-op. If its out of date, you can go to a propane supplier who will charge to recertify which gives another 5 years by an E stamp. It's cheaper to go to a tank exchange like Blue Rhino who takes any tank and gladly sells you a filled tank that is within certification times. Today I took 3 tanks in that I've had for a long time. 1 was filled at a cost of $12, the other two went to the grocery store and exchanged for 22 or 23 each. Next to the co-op where I had the first tank filled is a propane biz who can certify. I don't know their charge or wait time. I opted to pay the extra 10 for the BR exchange. The dates on the BR tanks were 22, both brand new. Now I can refill those for the next 10 years and save ducats.

Not sure if you meant to put this comment of a different video but you are right about the propane.

@@HowToRV You're right. YT jumped videos on me. AutoPlay was turned on. It must have advanced while I was typing the comment.

How do you scrub out mold that has already grown INSIDE the fresh water tank? I see dozens of algae/mold growth circles stuck all over the water tank. Will filling it up with bleach water be enough?

I am not sure. I would recommend to check with someone who has had that problem before. I am surprised that you can see your tank. Usually the tank is covered by the underbelly insulation. This keeps the tank away from direct sunlight which can cause extreme mold growth. If you have access, you could try the bleach water mix and put ice cubes in it and take it for a ride down the road. The road bounce will sloch the ice around acting like a scrubbing agent.

My son's friend filled my fresh water tank with a hose (direct with dirty yard hose + no bleach). The monitor inside said FULL at the time; he turned water pump on, he ran water through all the faucets momentarily & flushed the toilet once > I've not used the pump since then; hooked up to "shore" water & now the monitor reads FRESH - EMPTY. Like a fool, I crawled underneath, unscrewed the drain cap & water POURED OUT! What's your diagnosis, Please > I'm an old, crippled Granny! Thank you!!

I am not sure why it would show empty when the tank was full. You might be able to fill it and empty the tank a couple of times and see if it fixes itself. Otherwise, You might have to get someone to check the tank level sensor and readout to diagnose what is going on.
