Helpful video except for the recommendation to use RV toilet paper. There are tests that show household "septic safe" toilet paper dissolves faster and it is less expensive.
We use a septic safe paper we get from Walmart. It's their store brand. I did tests comparing how it breaks down in water to some of the RV specific papers. I simply placed a few sheets of each in separate bowls and noted how well they broke down down and how long they took. Walmart brand won.
I’ve used regular household toilet paper of many brands and textures without ever having any problem. Using RV toilet paper may result in tearing paper then you have a mess on your hands (pun intended).
I am not sure I agree with the chemicals and quick dissolve toilet paper. I watched a good video from a company that specializes in tank cleaning and they said NEVER USE chemicals to dissolve waste or rapid dissolve toilet paper. It causes a thick, peanut butter consistency that clogs. The guy said “remember…your RV tanks are HOLDING TANKS not SEPTIC TANKS. Flush them regularly.
I have been building for 20 years in the RVing for five in the best in this expensive toilet paper is the Scott 1000 single sheets. The role last a long time in the TP breaks down instantaneously but it’s funny strong for the job at a design port anyway that’s my recommendation.
When travelling from one campsite to another and you’ve emptied the black tank I often add a few gallons of water to the tank and drop in a couple of dishwasher detergent pods. While driving the soapy water sloshes around and helps to loosen and remove any remaining solids in the tank, then I re-dump again on arrival at the next campground. At home I just drain it into a five gallon pail and dump it down a toilet.
Excellent, I’m a first timer and was wondering how much water to install in an empty tank before first time use as another video says never start with an empty tank due to solids will stick. They all say how to drain and flush but not prepare for first time use. Two gallons of water with one treatment pod sounds good. I will go with it. And use your advice for cleaning with the dishwasher pod. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. Wondered how the tanks were situated and now have a better understanding of how they work. Not too concerned about my sensors not reading correctly, my toilet will 'burp' when it's full.

It gives me a better understand of how the tanks may be sitting and where they may be. You guys are funny! Keep up the great videos!
Be advised, the black tank flush system has a valve that is located under the sink in the bathroom. These can and do fail. When that happens, water will run wide open into the under sink cabinet and flood your bathroom and everything else. NEVER use the black tank flush without a person inside to monitor that unit. This is on my Keystone Avalanche.

I'm also not quite finished with replacing part of the kitchen floor that was caused by poor construction (joists that run under the kitchen island were cut and only the cheap osb floor was supporting them... 😢) From my description of what I'm seeing down the toilet can you give me some idea of what could be the issue?! If you’re hooked to fresh water at a campsite. Does the fresh water fill a tank reservoir & then you pull water from that tank ? Or Is it pushing water directly in to the lines. I understand there’s a fresh water tank for boon docking I am wondering how city water works
@@StephenPaul1160it depends on the model. My model has a water control station where I select different routes for the incoming and fresh tank water to go.
Good job. I noticed on my 2022 Bullet 330BHS that when I used the tank flush on the outside by the kitchen slide out I only heard and seen water action in the rear bunkhouse toilet. I went up to the master bath toilet and I didn't hear any water or see any water action in the tank using a flashlight. Shouldn't the black tank flush, flush both tanks? I am a little confused. I also noticed the bunkhouse sink goes into the rear black tank and not the gray tank like the other sinks.

Why would the inside of my bathroom flood when I tried to use my black water flush out? I hook up the water to the outside of the camper and opened the black water valve outside and ended up with a big mess (just water). Is there a hidden valve that I'm missing?
Good Morning, Thank you for the comment. It sounds like there may be an issue with the flush valve, this can typically be found under the bathroom sink.
Great video but I have been trying to find out on the black tank flush what is actually happening in the black tank when you turn the water on and its going into the tank ?Is it spraying all over in the tank or just dumping in the tank. My black water tank valve is stuck open. Any suggestions on what to do? The valve is behind a cardboard barrier with foam around it. Is there something inside blocking it? Should I use wd40 on it?

I had a salesman tell me that the sensors are no longer just screws wired to the monitor. That they are now sensitive electronics and not to do the old school of dumping ice into the black tank to clean them when traveling (ice sloshing around to clean any build-up). Is this true?
My pump runs but isn't pumping from my fresh water tank, how can you tell if vapor lock, wrong valve directions, or faulty pump, or clogged or kinked air vent?
Good morning! There’s a few thing that you can check. Make sure there’s enough water in the tank so the pump can pick up the water from the tank. Make sure you have a faucet open to provide air and demand from the pump. If you have both of those these components it may be vapor locked. If this is not the case you would need a technician to look at this for you to properly diagnose the issue. Should you need further assistance on this please feel free to call us at 866-425-4369. I now that I need to call someone, not only that but my holding tank fresh water drain plug is broken, and the houes on it spins around so I am assuming that it will leak.
Good Morning! We would not recommend that you keep your black tank valve left open. This can cause blockages like what you are experiencing. We would recommend that you properly clean your tank and keep the black tank valve closed at all times unless dumping it.
No. That is the purpose of the fresh water tank. Fill it for boondocking, dry camping scenarios. This is not true of the gray and black tanks. It is not recommended that you travel far with full gray or black tanks due to their design. Also - always check your tire/axle weight ratings and make sure you're not overloading you them.
You can travel with your fresh water tank full however you do need to be cautious of the wear & tear this can cause on the unit. We also do not recommend traveling with the Grey & Black tanks full!
Good afternoon! At times depending on the floorplan the shower and bath sink can be plumbed into the black tank, it simply depends on location. Thank you!
What would cause the water pressure to quickly diminish after about 5-10 seconds on a brand new Cougar Half-Ton 30 BHS? Doesn’t seem to be the pump or the supply lines. It seems like either something wrong with the suction line from the fresh water tank like a kink or debris or something in the tank that isn’t allowing for smooth flow. The pump also takes about 30-60 seconds to catch up and shut off after the water has been turned off from the faucet etc.

VIN # 4YDTBLM24PT430429 2023 Keystone Bullet Crossfire 2780BH Time line on this camper... I signed papers on this camper on December 9, 2023. I didn't get it home until February 3, 2024. Work Order # 14680W dated 12/5/23 states job 1- Loose trim at bottom of entry door. job 2- Night stand trim needs work (right side). job 3- Master bedroom seam tape and wall panels needs replaced. Cause: Window not sealed causing water damage to unit Correction: Remove window, window valance, blind, trim, sliding door, door track, trim, cabinet, night stand, bed, bed frame, shelf above bed, and put it all back together again and fill all nail holes with color matched wood filler. At the bottom of this work order it states that "The remaining windows on the unit are not sealed properly and going to allow water to intrude in the future." Were ALL these windows even fixed? April 22, 2024... I am in the camper making the beds for our FIRST trip and notice BOTH upper and lower bunks are wet. Upon further inspection the wall panel, the bunk frames, the curtains, and the floor were also wet. There was a 1/4" gap between the wall and the window top. Water was literally dripping from the window frame. I have video of the gap and the water coming in. I had to cancel that trip to get the camper back in for service. Work Order # 15548 dated 4/29/24 job #1- Lower bunk window is leaking. job #2- Upper bunk window is leaking. Cause: window is not properly installed causing a gap in window and not properly sealed. Correction: tighten windows and seal. May 16, 2024 Our first trip... While hooked up to water and the water pump on, we discovered the toilet leaks/spews water from a fitting onto the wall and floor, and the bathroom sink has a pretty substantial drip/leak where it will not shut off. As the day got warmer, we turned on the A/C and discovered there was a gap in the drip rail that allowed condensation/and maybe even rain water, to drip down into the outside speaker. Later that night as we were going to bed, we noticed the night stand trim in the bedroom (that had been "fixed" in w/o # 14680W) was flopping off the wall again. We finish our camping trip inconvenienced by not being able to turn on the water pump. I make an appointment to drop the camper off for yet another "fix". The night before taking this back to Camping World for service, I'm in the camper and notice the lower bunk is wet, again! As I am collecting stuff out of the camper, I notice a hat that had been sitting on the right side night stand in the master bedroom was wet, and a notebook that was on the dinette table was wet. When we go in to drop the camper off, Josh and Bill do a physical walk around and inspection. The wall and nightstand are wet as well. They discover a hole in the right front corner of the roof and tell us all 4 corners of the roof have been patched with some sort of "putty" and this is why the wall and nightstand are wet and is why trim keeps falling off the wall. All of this takes us to Work Order # 15735 dated 5/21/24. job #1- toilet has a massive leak job #2- bathroom faucet will not shut completely off job #3- seam in gutter dripping into outdoor speaker job #4- master bedroom trim is lose again (from W/O #14680W) job #5- lower bunk window is leaking again (from W/O #15548) job #6- dinette window leaks There is no mention of a hole in the roof OR all 4 corners be patched on this work order. No mention of the the wall panels warping. What happens 6 or 10 months from now and the floor and/or walls deteriorate? What happens if mold is discovered? Has anyone even CHECKED BEHIND any of these walls that have been wet? Has anyone checked the stability of the bunk bed frames, where they mount to the wall? Will they deteriorate and come off the wall? The bunk room curtains have been so wet that they have faded and bled black dye onto two set of sheets. What happens when those curtains and the header that they are attached to fall from the wall? We have our annual trip (6 hr drive) coming up. What happens when we find another leak or disastrous situation?? Camping World Customer Service suggested that if we have issues to "reach out to our Elite Tech Support line" and gave me an 844 phone number. The closest Camping World would be AT LEAST 147 miles away! And how would I contact them with no cell service or internet in the hills and back woods of Missouri?? We are not "glampers"...we do off grid or "boon-docking". This camper is not as solid or dependable as it should be for a NEW camper. As of todays date, I have made 7 payments on this camper. It has 96 miles on it...30 to a campground, and 66 miles to Camping World for service. I spoke to Nicole at Keystone Customer Service about a Swap Out or Buy Back. I would swap for another Keystone Bullet. We have always had good luck with Keystone campers and have thought of them as a quality camper. However, this particular camper has some serious issues. Issues that I'm not sure can be corrected properly.

I was wondering if when flushing the toilet if it opens one or to drain opening that go to the septic?
Good Morning! We would not recommend that you keep your black tank valve left open. This can cause blockages like what you are experiencing. We would recommend that you properly clean your tank and keep the black tank valve closed at all times unless dumping it.
where can you fill the tanks once they are empty?
Good morning! You would utilize your fill station on the coach to fill the tanks once they are empty. Thank you!
Thank YOU
Is ot true that we should not tow an rv with the fresh water full or half full? Is it made to survive the stress of the road?
I assume all tanks are installed in a way that rates them to be 100% full during travel?
You can travel with your fresh water tank full however you do need to be cautious of the wear & tear this can cause on the unit. We also do not recommend traveling with the Grey & Black tanks full!
@@KeystoneRVCompany if your axles are not overloaded, I’m confused what wear and tear a full fresh water tank would cause?
My shower and bathroom sink are plumbed to the black tank
Good afternoon! At times depending on the floorplan the shower and bath sink can be plumbed into the black tank, it simply depends on location. Thank you!
@@KeystoneRVCompanyit’s not right.
If you would like to have this further inspected you can certainly do so! We apologize for any inconvenience. @@michaelenglish904
Thanks god bless
What would cause the water pressure to quickly diminish after about 5-10 seconds on a brand new Cougar Half-Ton 30 BHS?
Doesn’t seem to be the pump or the supply lines. It seems like either something wrong with the suction line from the fresh water tank like a kink or debris or something in the tank that isn’t allowing for smooth flow.
The pump also takes about 30-60 seconds to catch up and shut off after the water has been turned off from the faucet etc.

I have a 2007 Dutchmen Grand Junction 39 ft fifth wheel RV that is going to be permanent on my property I was thinking about removing the tanks or at least the black tank and turning it into a park model but I don't know what kind of job I'm going to have Plumbing it up
Good Morning! We would recommend consulting with a local Keystone dealership near you if you wish to remove any tanks like this. They will be able to walk you through the process of plumbing the unit to be a complete park model.

2023 Keystone Bullet Crossfire 2780BH
Time line on this camper...
I signed papers on this camper on December 9, 2023. I didn't get it home until February 3, 2024.
Work Order # 14680W dated 12/5/23 states
job 1- Loose trim at bottom of entry door.
job 2- Night stand trim needs work (right side).
job 3- Master bedroom seam tape and wall panels needs replaced.
Cause: Window not sealed causing water damage to unit
Correction: Remove window, window valance, blind, trim, sliding door, door track, trim, cabinet, night stand, bed, bed frame, shelf above bed, and put it all back together again and fill all nail holes with color matched wood filler.
Work Order # 15548 dated 4/29/24
job #1- Lower bunk window is leaking.
job #2- Upper bunk window is leaking.
All of this takes us to Work Order # 15735 dated 5/21/24.
job #1- toilet has a massive leak
job #2- bathroom faucet will not shut completely off
job #3- seam in gutter dripping into outdoor speaker
job #4- master bedroom trim is lose again (from W/O #14680W)
job #5- lower bunk window is leaking again (from W/O #15548)
job #6- dinette window leaks
There is no mention of a hole in the roof OR all 4 corners be patched on this work order.
