This product is a chemical class we call “quats”. Has an NSF label because it’s approved for use in food service and is used to sanitize food prep surfaces and wares. Chlorine is as well. Chlorine and “quat” have always been adequate for this use. water treatment…chlorine is hopefully in the water system coming to your three stage filter, probably removed after that then into your camper. Not sure why people wait 24 hours after a chlorine soak of 50ppm but 10-15 min should be fine just as in the quat solution process which by the way should be around 200ppm quat for 15 min. You are correct of the corrosive measures of chlorine but the biggest corrosion issue with any water system is pH and alkalinity. Why RO systems put minerals back into the RO water. Point is corrosion issues aren’t from a periodic 50ppm 10-15 min chlorine soak it’s from some other everyday overlooked water quality issue. Cheaper quat sources….at 10% solution….. can buy it by the gallon. Still expensive though as compared to chlorine.
Bleach is actually used in water treatment facilities to clean drinking water. As long as it’s diluted it it’s fine. 2 ounces per 15 gallons is what the EPA recommends. Diluted bleach won’t hurt you either. Your first video using bleach is perfectly fine and acceptable. Additionally, diluted against plumbing for 8-12 hours won’t harm anything. I guess it gets a bad rap, but along with vinegar it’s one of the best sanitizers on the planet. The key is the dilution rate.
I've been wondering this for some time, then read an article that confirms that BLU'S BLEACH FREE is what you need... I switched after seeing this video and doing another of research! Take a look as to what I found: Using bleach to clean your RV lines can be problematic for several reasons: 1. **Corrosion**: Bleach is a strong chemical that can cause corrosion to the metal parts of your RV's plumbing system and other components. This can lead to leaks and damage over time. 2. **Chemical Residue**: Bleach can leave harmful residues that are difficult to flush out completely. This can contaminate your fresh water supply and potentially be harmful to your health when drinking or cooking. 3. **Fumes**: Bleach releases chlorine gas, which can be hazardous when inhaled, especially in the confined spaces of an RV. It can cause respiratory issues and other health problems. 4. **Compatibility Issues**: Many RV systems are made from materials that may not be compatible with bleach, leading to breakdown or failure of parts over time. 5. **Alternatives Available**: There are many RV-specific cleaning products available that are safer and more effective for cleaning lines without the risks associated with bleach. For these reasons, it’s better to use RV-friendly products that are specifically designed for cleaning and sanitizing water systems. After looking up Blu's Bleach Free and consulting my cousin who's a plumber... who confirmed Blu's bleach free was way more safe for my RV and better at cleaning my system! I went out and bought some AND I'LL NEVER USE BLEACH AGAIN! So what you stated isn't true. Your house pipes aren't the same as your RV lines and such. Glad for you basking in your probably impenetrable paranoia. It’s well established that bleach is corrosive like he said. Maybe it’s a business opportunity for you to invent another non bleach solution. I’d like to see what you would charge for it.
@@jackdolphy8965 lol People have been using diluted bleach to sanitize things (including RV water tanks) for many decades, and it hasn't destroyed anything or killed anyone.. Who is paranoid? Bleach diluted at the proper rate and used in the proper time intervals is completely safe. This is just a commercial for his new sponsor. It would have been more genuine for him to say something like "hey bleach is fine to use but if you want to try something different here is this new product" instead he went full send with suddenly STOP USING BLEACH or it will basically destroy your RV and/or kill you.. loses some credibility there.. sorry just true.
$10 per pack minus 7% discount? No way! That would mean $70 every 3-4 months for the fresh tank and lines of my rig. Maybe at $4 per pack I’d do it but $10 is crazy!
Yeah seems pricey to me too. The company is recommending 3-4 months. I’m more in the once a year realm myself. Here’s a link you might like 😉 amzn.to/4brKc1m
Thetford Fresh Water Tank Sanitizer Detergent and Sanitizer Treatment is the exact same thing. The only difference is the little packet is more concentrated. But the Thetford is only $16 and you get a 24 ounce bottle.
I'm sure Blu is great! But it's crazy expensive for the normal, non sponsored RVer. I guess.if I had a five million dollar rig, it wouldn't be that bad. But I'm a normal RVer. Good for you, I'm happy you have help.
If I understood correctly, you ARE sanitizing through the hot water heater? My wife hates the bleach method. She can detect the smell/ taste for many days, no matter how well I have flushed the system. I've even stealthy sanitized, and she still can sense it. I am excited to try this new protocol. I agree $10+ per packet is pricey, but the link you sent for 24 packs at $77 dollars ($3.20/packet) is in range. After all, one trip to the doctor for a bacteria infection will cost much more ( and not just in dollars and cents). Thanks for the review. I haven't seen anything else like this out there.
You state putting 2 packs into a example 40 gal fresh water tank, ok but why 2 packs for the water lines? I don’t believe my water lines holds 40 gallons. Thanks for posting this vid!
Sure thing. I appreciate you checking it out. I would contact Blu Technology with any questions like that, I didn’t invent the stuff lol So they are the ones who did all the testing and came up with the technical numbers. They are good at getting back to people. Thanks again for watching. goblutech.com/?ref=whywait
Hey guys! We have the whole blue tech system because of you guys. So what about the hot water tank with the old bleach method you had to bypass the water tank with this product? Do you have to bypass the hot water tank?
Nope. It’s totally safe for it 👍🏼 That’s the first place this will go if you run it through your filter canister like in the video. Like I mention in the video too after running cold and warm water for 20 mins to sanitize the lines I like to turn on only the hot water on the faucet as well and totally run the hot water by itself until I see no more foaming.
Just put it into your hose then connect it and turn the water on if using city water. Or if you have a tank fill dump it in there then connect a hose and fill your tank then run all your faucets.
Bro... Do you have any thoughts on the frame flex that 5th wheels are known to experience? I was going to buy one but I rethought it because of some videos that highlighted the problem... Do you have a video on 5th flex issues or do you know of a presenter that's covered the flex issue in detail? Is there any videos on buying an older 5th wheel camper like 10 yrs or older? That's my price market... My use case would be... going from Massachusetts to Colorado 2 times a year that's it... Any help on this would be greatly appreciated... Thanks for all you hard work informing us newbies!
Here check out this video of mine. Then there is a few links in that video description for other videos as well as a Facebook site that’s great for information. RV FRAME FLEX/FAILURE (Latest News) - Grand Design RV Owners Are FIGHTING Back! ruclips.net/video/nuRuttGhejk/видео.html
So someone went to the Amazon link yesterday probably from this video and asked if it was able to clean an Rv water system and it looks like many of the vendors/manufacturer came back and said no
Depends on the question you ask and how…here are two answers from that Amazon link asking about RV systems. -This sanitizer concentrate is designed to clean water softeners, reverse osmosis units, and water coolers. It can be used for RV water systems to help maintain clean and fresh water. -This sanitizer concentrate is designed to be used periodically to clean water softeners, reverse osmosis systems, and water coolers. For an RV water system, the frequency of use can vary based on usage and water quality. Many customers recommend using it every 2-3 months to help keep the system clean and fresh. You can always contact Blu Technology if you have any concerns. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼 goblutech.com/collections/accessories/products/blu-tech-bleachfree-rv-sanitizer-liquid-concentrate-for-rv-plumbing-system-holding-tank-and-water-softeners Straight from the companies brochure too…. Sani-System eliminates 99.9% of harmful micro-organisms. When used as directed, Sani-System kills bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus (Staph), Escherichia coli (E. coli), Listeria and other micro-organisms that grow on the untreated surfaces of water quality equipment. It eliminates odors and SANITIZES LINES, HOSES, AND TANKS. Specialized products similar to Sani-System are commonly used in restaurants, food processing plants and medical facilities to sanitize drinking glasses, food preparation equipment and other hard surfaces. Sani-System puts that industrial- strength sanitizing power to work in your home. Thanks for watching. Hope this helps.
That’s what I would probably do if I didn’t have any sort of filter canister at all to put in. Or use my fresh water tank and then pump it through the lines. It’s always best to contact them with any specific questions like that for your style RV but common sense works. As long as it’s getting into the lines and you’re running hot and cold for a good while to flush it through. goblutech.com/?ref=whywait
Lots of different RVs out there and styles of water systems. Blu Technology says to reach out to them on their website if you don’t have a filtration system and need help with the Sani pack. I would just mix one packet at a time with 5 gallons of water in a bucket and pump it into your fresh water tank or pour it into the tank if you have that style. Then let it sit 15-20 mins then run it through all your lines till no more foaming. Then fill the tank again with water and then dump it.
Gonna give this product a try for sure! Some have asked already, can it be run through water heater? Also, I don't have a filtration system and only a 20 gallon fresh water tank, smaller camper. Should I just used the correct amount for the 20 gallon tank and then run it through the lines? Thanks

You can contact Blu Technology but they told me it doesn’t have to be off. It doesn’t make a difference. You’re just running it all through the RV system and flushing it through. I would go ahead and run the warm/hot water though for awhile till you see no foaming water coming out of the fixtures anymore. 👍🏼
As full time RVers with a washer machine and lots of water usage our grey tanks are kept open 24/7. This method is even recommended by the highly popular RV Digest company as you can read about in this link. cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2034/4709/files/PDF_CMG008_Full-time_RVing_The_Definitive_Guide_to_Treating_Your_Tank_1a3d5344-7e3e-40b8-8368-e7a7cff72f21.pdf?v=1644427380 But even if we had the greys closed running water for 20 mins straight would not fill our tanks up. We have a flow meter and even with good water pressure 20 mins of running water is about 35-40 gallons.
Here’s what they say on their website… B. SANITATION WITH BLU TECHNOLOGY FILTRATION SYSTEM - FRESH WATER HOLDING TANK Follow steps 1-3 above. 4. Connect the outlet of Blu Technology’s Filtration System to the tank fill or put your system in tank fill mode. NOTE: This can include the Blu Technology Water Softener, Hoses and Accessories inline. 5. Turn on the water source to the RV. 6. Fill your fresh water holding tank completely. 7. Allow sanitation solution to set in the tank for 15 minutes. 8. Drain the tank completely using the low point drain. 9. Close the low point drain 10. Refill your fresh water holding tank with water again to flush. 11. Drain the tank completely using the low point drain. 12. Close the low point drain. 13. Your system is now disinfected. You can always contact them with that question though. They are good about helping out.

I think my post didnt post. So ill reiterate... i switched from bleach to this after much research and my cousin whos a plumber confirming Blu's Bleach Free is not only better for my RV, wont corrode my RV lines and such like bleach but also way more effective at disinfecting. Heres some thibgs i found in my research: Using bleach to clean your RV lines can be problematic for several reasons: 1. **Corrosion**: Bleach is a strong chemical that can cause corrosion to the metal parts of your RV's plumbing system and other components. same reason they say not to use bleach based products in your toilet tank. It eats & corrodes gaskets & metal. many boaters/Rv website discussion have done actual testing and CleanTabs Puriclean, purisol, Aqua Mega or Aquasol are the best cleaner, sanitizer, etc & corrode less than all teh other products out there but as a UK company it is difficult to obtain in the US or if you do it is at a jacked up price.

@@WhyWait Thanks!
@WhyWait so, how many packs come in that 75 dollar box ? I never really seen where it said how many packs were in that box.
I have a regular class A rig and I got my Blu filter and softener for a great discount.. I want to say about a grand of stuff for like $750
Great product and idea, but price is way, way, way to much. Makes no sense. Sticking with my $3 Bottle of Bleach.
Interesting info man. Have a nice week.
Yes this is safe for the water heater. No need to reroute. Just contact Blu Technology if you have any questions 👍🏼

Just did the Sani-System sanitizer water lines and fresh water tank all went well and most of all no more bleach smell YEAH
Great info as usual - we have come to depend on your content!
😊😊Thanks! Definitely a great product to make this process quicker and safer guys.

I don't have any filter on my RV to throw the envelope in it so what do I do ?
Just put it into your hose then connect it and turn the water on if using city water. Or if you have a tank fill dump it in there then connect a hose and fill your tank then run all your faucets.
@@WhyWait thank you

Straight from the companies brochure too….
Could you explain how this would work without using a filter system?
Just pour in house, turn on water, them turn on faucets?
That’s what I would probably do if I didn’t have any sort of filter canister at all to put in. Or use my fresh water tank and then pump it through the lines. It’s always best to contact them with any specific questions like that for your style RV but common sense works. As long as it’s getting into the lines and you’re running hot and cold for a good while to flush it through.

Pour it into the hose before hooking it up.
I have a Class C, no canister filters as shown in this video. How do I introduce the Sani product into my fresh water tank?
Lots of different RVs out there and styles of water systems. Blu Technology says to reach out to them on their website if you don’t have a filtration system and need help with the Sani pack.
I would just mix one packet at a time with 5 gallons of water in a bucket and pump it into your fresh water tank or pour it into the tank if you have that style. Then let it sit 15-20 mins then run it through all your lines till no more foaming. Then fill the tank again with water and then dump it.
@@WhyWait Thanks for responding…..helpful. I enjoy your videos - I watch every one.
Gonna give this product a try for sure! Some have asked already, can it be run through water heater? Also, I don't have a filtration system and only a 20 gallon fresh water tank, smaller camper. Should I just used the correct amount for the 20 gallon tank and then run it through the lines? Thanks

@@WhyWait Thanks so much for the reply and information! Appreciate it.
Just put it in the hose, attach to the RV and turn on the water. No filtration unit or bucket required. May even sanitize your hose.
Curious I know blu says to separate tank and then lines Why can’t you fill tank then use pump clean lines is it just too use more product?
I think you need to do both, this way your fresh water lines get sanitized as well as the water lines coming from your tank to the fixtures as well.
Does anyone know if the water heater should be in the on or Off position during this procedure??
You can contact Blu Technology but they told me it doesn’t have to be off. It doesn’t make a difference. You’re just running it all through the RV system and flushing it through. I would go ahead and run the warm/hot water though for awhile till you see no foaming water coming out of the fixtures anymore. 👍🏼
Chris if you’re running all your faucets open for 15-20 minutes won’t that over flow your grey water tank?
As full time RVers with a washer machine and lots of water usage our grey tanks are kept open 24/7. This method is even recommended by the highly popular RV Digest company as you can read about in this link.
cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2034/4709/files/PDF_CMG008_Full-time_RVing_The_Definitive_Guide_to_Treating_Your_Tank_1a3d5344-7e3e-40b8-8368-e7a7cff72f21.pdf?v=1644427380
But even if we had the greys closed running water for 20 mins straight would not fill our tanks up. We have a flow meter and even with good water pressure 20 mins of running water is about 35-40 gallons.
Can you just drain the fresh water tank on the grass after sanitizing?
Here’s what they say on their website…
B. SANITATION WITH BLU TECHNOLOGY FILTRATION SYSTEM - FRESH WATER HOLDING TANK
Follow steps 1-3 above.

Will this work with the camoco water filters?
This will work with any filtration system or without one. Just remember to remove your filters when using this and follow the directions closely.
I think my post didnt post. So ill reiterate... i switched from bleach to this after much research and my cousin whos a plumber confirming Blu's Bleach Free is not only better for my RV, wont corrode my RV lines and such like bleach but also way more effective at disinfecting.
Heres some thibgs i found in my research:
Using bleach to clean your RV lines can be problematic for several reasons:
5. **Alternatives Available**: There are some RV-specific cleaning products available that are safer and more effective for cleaning lines without the risks associated with bleach. For these reasons, it’s better to use RV-friendly products that are specifically designed for cleaning and sanitizing water systems.
Right on 👍🏼 Well said.
same reason they say not to use bleach based products in your toilet tank.
Is this safe to run through your hot water heater?

@@WhyWait this is quaternary ammonia. Actually two. It's a great chemical as a sanitizer.
has anyone actually used this product and has a review; the company website has no reviews of them
Just a heads up on that… the product has only been sold by them now for maybe two months. It’s pretty new to them.
Most rv's do not have a water filtration system.
True. You can just put this in the water hose and hook it up. Run it through the system or your tank.
I went to the website and looked at this stuff. Its 20 dollars a packet. Thats way out of line for anyone except the Bill Gates type.
If you poopied in it, you broke the first rule of rv club.
