I think the touch screen controls is gonna be a deal breaker for some people. Alot of people still prefer having the feel of physical buttons for simple action like climate control and sunroof. I know software controls is cheaper for Proton to manufacture but it's just annoying that you now need to take extra steps for what was just one swift action.
Malaysia Excise duty causes this problem of cars feature getting stripped. Rm100k overseas can get full spec cars already. Malaysian should force government to abolish excise duties already. That is the ultimate route to allow cheaper cars with full specs feature.
That's practically asking to cut a big chunk of income earn from excise duty, unless there are other ways to earn the same as replacement, sadly it won't removed. This will be here for long
i think the people who choose this car as compare to city or vios is not solely because of powerful engine and its transmision but mainly because of big size or bulky look pair with its latest tech within small car budget, it will be very unresist package!

They're not outright rebadges. Proton's versions of Geely's models are the first RHD versions of those Geely models. So basically, there will be some minor R&D needed to swap from LHD to RHD while ensuring the conversion is proper and feels like a native RHD car, unlike those Peugeot and Renault conversions. If you say that Proton isn't a local car brand because all the cars made are rebadges of Geely, then what do you think the first Proton Saga was.. and also its follow-up models like the Wira, Satria and Putra.. 🤦♂
Engine oil x3 of NA engine. DCT also need fluid change just like CVT with higher fluid price. After 10 years, it worth under RM25K if transmission or turbo fail after 15 years it's totaled. But, you can buy 2 old Proton for 1 Toyota.

With Honda City getting even lower price (tonnes of discount and 0% d/p atm), it will be challenging to sell this at the expected price point of 100k for a prolonged period. Only time will tell.

Proton's Lotus Tuned Handling ( now only the Iriz,and Exora have it)is No More. So no more " That Proton Handling"...Can always tune both City and Vios( without Turbo as CVT) to give much better power and handling by spending some money.

I’m honestly not excited for this car much. Reason being , most of the downsides from their other models of the x50 and x90 will carry over here. Their poor fuel economy is a huge one which Proton is still ignoring till now, along with the quality of the trims/interior/door handle. Their front seats also lack proper thigh support that will make you tired after a while. Basically, if you’ve experienced the X50, you can guess the kind of user experience you will get.

Its an insult if compare the fit and finishes to the like of perodua. And i have driven the x50 almost 7xxkm up and down kuching-sarikei-kuching (day trip) and no problem with the thigh.
