I love your videos because you're like one of the only one's of these channels that teach you how to play the full piano part, and not try to add on the notes that the singer is singing. It's great for learning to sing and play at the same time!! The song sounds a lot better if you're playing more of the instrumental with the piano and not trying to "play the singing"

ACCURATE IS CORRECT! Well done. I pride myself in being the guy who can figure anything out on the piano by ear (within reasonable time of course) and you sir have this spot on. Even though I'm not sure this was ever really in E. His live version is in D....and the released version is somewhere between E and E flat. Maybe he recorded in D, then sped it up to get the piano to have that ethereal sound...IDK
Yeah, that makes sense. I thought it was in E tho, about 30 cents flat
Every time he plays it he plays it in different notes than how it sounds, like the first note he does is always a D but that ain't sounding like a D, it sounds like F#, that's why it sounds different when live, he always plays it one way and then transpose it for the shorts but you can't do that so easily when live

UPDATE: I finished it in 14 days
It did seemed quite impossible at the beginning though
I would say that the hardest part is the first 36 seconds
It does gets a little easier once you get confortable with that first bit

So for C# and D# my left hand is over my right hand
For B and A my right hand goes underneath
When I was trying to learn that move at the beginning I was arching my back to try to see underneath my right hand, with time I became able to do it with peeking down to see
I think it did help me with my hand position somehow
Also I read a comment that said:
“It's all abt finger positioning, kinda hard to explain without being able to show you but the part of the note your pressing and the angle of your finger make the difference”

If some people find this too difficult to play (especially while trying to sing), try to transpose it to C major (if you have digital piano), even JVKE plays this transposed in all his live performances.

@@parkergreen6102 the key is to learn slowly like really slow, figure out which notes are played at the same time of the other hand and use that as a little guide or a checkpoint.
@@parkergreen6102 don’t try to play it the actual speed at first get the notes down and the rhythm next worry about speed later I also suggest breaking it down in to sections to learn at a time
Try repeating one hand of one part until you can play it with ur eyes closed, then switch hands, then put them together
Yes!
Practice hands separately and slowly, then put them together, keeping it slow (try using a metronome).
Once you get strong playing it at 40 bpm, for instance, challenge yourself to 45 or 50 bpm and only increase the speed once you play it well at your current speed.
It may take a few weeks or a even a month or two, but you will be so proud of your accomplishment once you are able to play it at full speed and maybe even sing along!
Who knows? You might even get to play it for a couple you know who is in love.

It had taken me 3 months to fully master golden hour, but still yet this this piano piece is truly magnificent and such an etherealistic peice for my experience

First of all, let me say that I've been viewing your tutorials and buying/printing off lots of your sheet music from Musicnotes over the past several years - your talent is simply amazing, I'm not sure how else to describe it. I know you get lots of requests for songs, so I feel cheap loading another one on top, but...there is not sheet music *anywhere* from what I can tell, and I've been to the end of the world wide web and back (not to mention scoured printed anthologies galore), for the song "Lonely" by Tom Waits. Its a wonderful song and has a hauntingly beautiful piano behind it. I've seen a blip on the web that its in the key of C#, but fooling around trying to get the melody down by ear I'm not so sure (that said, i'm also a relative novice, having only taken up piano again...after a near 30yr hiatus...about three years ago). Love to see a cover of this should you find yourself interested. Cheers, and happy new year.

What I did was, instead of playing octives, I just played, F#, G#, B, C#, B, G#, then the one octive higher G#, then back down the lower octive G#, B, C#, B, G#.
So, F#, G#, B, C#, B, G#, ↑G#, ↓G#, B, C#, B, G#.
It works for the others, too.
E, G#, B, C#, B, G#, ↑G#, ↓G#, B, C#, B, G#.
E, F#, A, B, A, F#,↑F#, ↓F#, A, B, A, F#.

I also found that mistake,,,, it has stopped me now
be smart with fingerings, and try to minimize using the same finger for back-to-back notes, although it may be necessary for the right hand octaves here

Umm excuse me, but how tf do you play the chorus when you have to play octaves in the same octave as what you're playing in the right hand?😭
You overlap the hands, good sustain pedal, then let go of the octaves to play the chorus underneath it. Since the sustain pedal is on, the octaves are still held.
The issue with the video is, it can’t show you when to pedal since it doesn’t actually show a pedal, only the keys.
So you have to listen out for it.

I normally play something like Debussy or Bethoveen, but i got excited, when I saw on original video that JVKE has been playing something completely different than this song sounds. I was kind of confused about the chorus of this song so I decided to learn it. I think the piano he was playing was out of tune, or it was playback but i like it l. Good job 👍

The same. Doesn't make sense. Arms are crossed and you are supposed to hit the same notes.

For me I just did the left hand a octave lower, it doesn’t sound too different and helped me put heaps
It is possible if you want to do it the correct way you just have to have the left hand above the right hand when doing it but it is very difficult
