    I absolutely love my XDS9, best shooting handgun I have ever fired. Super accurate, love the weight of the gun, feels like an actual gun vs the lightness of most polymer pistols.

    I have always loved the XD line (XD, XDm, XDs) and have owned a couple. And i have never ever been a fan of Glock, period. Always hated the way they feel in hand. BUT......and a huge BUT. The G43 is a vastly different from the standard Glock. Its the smoothest shooting subcompact ive ever handled. Even over the XDs. Im really digging the G43. Although very similar in size for some reason the G43 conceals better to the XDs also.The weight is the biggest difference in the 2 by far. Glock is over 5oz lighter. 5oz might not seem like a lot but for a small CC gun 5oz is a BIG difference, especially if your carying IWB or a purse for a female. I would in this one rare case pick the Glock over the XDs. The XDs is heavy compared to many single stacks on the market. IN fact one of the heaviest if im not mistaken. Glock scored a big win with the G43.

    Man great video!!! I actually own a XDs 9mm and love it but have been looking for a G43 because I've heard they are much smaller and easier to conceal carry. After this video I am glad I made the choice of getting my XDs. Thanks a lot!!

    Owning an XDS9 and an M&P9c, I like both, but if you break them down, the machining on the XDS is gorgeous. Well made and beefy. Very nice polished feed ramps. Both my XD’s have never malfunctioned in two years.

  • @daveg8480
    @daveg8480 7 лет назад +1

    I LOVED my xds 9mm ...until the feed ramp randomly chipped and began to cause failure to feeds with hollow points (especially gold dots). Sent it back to Springfield (excellent customer service) and they replaced the barrel with a seemingly used one free of charge. Ultimately traded it for a glock 26 but it was a great gun. Glock 43 was too snappy - it's significantly lighter. But they do have the blue label program....

    Great comparison vid man! I carry an XDS 9mm as well, and haven't really seen any comparison vids with the g43 either. The only real advantage of the g43 looks to be that it's 4oz lighter. I'll probably just stick with my XDS. Looking forward to your shooting vid.

    Good video comparison! I've wanted to see one with the XDs. I've had my XDs for about a year-and-a-half. It is a seriously awesome gun. Hard to beat dollar for dollar. I bought a Shield at the end of last year. I have to admit that I really like it...though feel that the XDs has more features with the awesome sights. I just got a G43. It feels good...and I like it. However, the XDs is more gun for the dollar. Of the three (XDs, Shield and Glock) the XDs is the best buy.

    Why do people always say the lighter gun is a plus?? Less mass = more recoil. It's simple physics. The G43 kicks more,......obviously! The XDS is by far easier to shoot fast.

    Great video comparison! I currently own the XDS but I did have the G43 before getting the XDS. The only thing that I'm going to miss from the G43 is the TLR6/G43 combo. That looked amazing. I know that they have a new TLR6 for the XD models, so if I'm lucky, I think it might fit my XDS. After that, I really like the XDS better. It also fits better in my hands. Also, getting the extra 4 magazines from Springfield, so that makes it a much better deal than the G43.

    Pearce grip extension for the XDs makes the World of difference! I'm 6'2 300lbs with huge hands, and that allows me to get all three fingers on the weapon. I highly recommend getting one for each magazine ($9.99)

    Owning both of them, the Glock is lighter, a little smaller and, you don't even realize you're carrying it, but the trigger is VERY heavy. I shoot about the same with both of them though, even with the Glock's heavy trigger. The XDS has a better trigger, and for me, I can get a better grip on it since it's a little larger. All in all though, you just can't really go wrong with either one. I kept the XDS because the Glock 43 is just a little to small for me to get out of my IWB holster and grip properly.

    My XDs should arrive this weekend, so I don't have it yet, but I do own the Glock 43 and Smith-Wesson Performance Center 9mm Shield. Looks like the S-W and the XDs has a thicker/taller and heavier slide. This should give a better bore axis for the Glock. Also, the Glock feels better balanced because of the lighter weight slide. To me, the S-W seems a bit top heavy. NOT that I'm complaining! I have a feeling the XDs will feel similar in comparison to the S-W, albeit with a shorter grip like the G43. Looking forward to getting it. This time I decided for something different and bought the tactical grey frame with black slide and other bits. Comes with a Crimson Trace from the factory too.

    There are +1 and +2 mag plates available right now for the G43. I think it comes down to pocketability. You can always make a gun larger, but you can't make it smaller and lighter. I got rid of my XDs9 which is not a pocket pistol in my opinion. I ordered a G43 and hopefully scaling down the size and shaving 4 ounces will make it pocketable all day. We'll see though, but that's why they designed the G43 with only six rounds-to make it a pocket pistol. The PPS, XDs, and Shield I owned/carried are just not pocket pistols in my opinion and should never have been marketed that way; they're just slightly too heavy for that. The extra ounces and barrel length should also make it more shootable than the Kahr equivalent as well. If pocket carry isn't someone's thang, all the above pistols will serve people well so long as they have the right ergos and a reliable sample. My XDS was notoriously unreliable and Springfield couldn't fix it. Cabela's actually refunded my money without a fight understanding how bad my sample was.

  • @ajamesg77
    @ajamesg77 8 лет назад +1

    I had an XDS 9mm and for a subcompact it was bulky, heavy and had a mediocre trigger. Surprisingly I really wasn't a huge fan of the fiber optic front sight on the XDS. In low light I think the white dot shows up better, in daylight I didn't notice acquiring the red fiber optic of the XDS any better. I also had a Shield 9mm which I shot better than the XDS but still didn't feel great in the hand and felt the cheapest of the three to me. I now own the G43 which I shoot well, it's more comfortable to hold and conceals much better for me not too mention it seems much more well built than at least the Shield (XDS is solid in that regard). I get the argument about the polymer sights but its a utilitarian EDC tool not a show piece and I've never had a problem with them on any Glocks. The 6 rnd capacity mag on the other hand sort of baffles me. I don't know why they wouldn't go with 7 or 8 however there are soon to be higher capacity mags made for the weapon and as a matter of fact there is one or two companies already making mag extensions that add 1 and 2 more rounds (tarantacticalinnovations.com/). I think people get too caught up in reviews, use what works for you and buy what you like, who cares about the reviews. In my humble opinion the G43 works best for what I need.

      I shot the g43 and xds 9mm before. G43 definitely has more recoil comparing to the xds 9mm. XDS all the way. My brother just bought xds .40, and i'm planning to get xds 9mm really soon!!!

    • @ajamesg77
      @ajamesg77 8 лет назад

      XDs was solid while I had it, glad you like it. After carrying and shooting the G43 for 6 months my opinion hasn't changed...still the lightest, most concealable, most comfortable, longest barrel and with a couple inexpensive mods, for me it takes the cake. To each their own I suppose, in the end they are all just a tool that would likely get the job done if you are in the unlucky position of having to use it.

    Now that my rant is over, I shot the 43 last night and I loved it. Which isn't surprising for myself because I am a Glock "fan boy." Before I shot the 43, I shot the Shield. It was okay, but I did much better with the 43. I REALLY want to try an XDs before I buy though. Has anyone done the Powder River trigger springs in one??? Thanks for the review KGG - on to prt 2!

    No surprise that the G43 is lighter since Glock uses plastic on a lot of parts that are metal on other handguns. Add the sheet metal parts vs. milled or cast metal like the slide release and frame rails and there's even more weight savings.

    I have an XDS 9mm but I carry a Ruger LC9s because it's slimmer, lighter. and more elegant than these two and the Shield. All three are built like a brick, but more importantly, 43 with only 6+1 capacity is definitely not an option for me, because I might as well carry an LCP or a revolver.

    Metal sights vs. plastic. Accessory rail on the XDs. Grip safety (Glocks have more ND's than any other gun). 1 more round with flat mag on XDs. XDs available with 4 inch barrel (more power and more accurate). I say XDs is a winner, too.

    I think you did a good job on the content.. so i think its unfair to downvote the video itself since this is based on your subjective opinion and you seem to put a lot of stock in 8rds over 7rds.... Here is where the Glock shines over both the XDS and the Shield... Ligher, Thinner, Shorter Grip, Lower Bore Axis, and slightly longer sight radius... All of these attributes indicate it will be easier to carry, easier to conceal, and easier to shoot {less muzzle flip}..... I have Trijicon HD's on my G27 and i would install them on a 43 as well... Street price will come down after a few months... They are already down to 459 on Gunbroker.. In a year or so should be able to pick up nice used ones for around 375.00.. Also these are Austrian produced Glocks and imo i think that country has the edge in high precision manufacturing and quality control over Croatia... The older Austrian produced Glocks are legendary for their build quality and reliability... Chuck Taylor had put 270K rounds through his personal Austrian produced G17 in 2004... I guess what im saying is.... I'll take the Glock.

    4.5oz more in a carry gun is a HUGE difference, over a quarter of a pound. To put it in perspective the Glock 26 is 21.6 oz (10+1cap), and the Glock 19 is 23.5oz(15+1 cap). The XDS is 22.5oz? Ouch.

      ***** Glock, first in polymer guns, but always last to the party. Not sure why Glock decided to enter the single stack market this late with 1 less round and plastic sights. If you're going to be behind your competitors a few years you'd better come up with a superior product. Well, at least they always have their fanboys who will buy their guns.

    • @jpap967
      @jpap967 9 лет назад +1

      ***** I see what you mean, but at that point when you don't mind giving up some size (the XDS is noticeably bigger), and weight (4.5oz), may as well give up a little more thickness for the same weight and height to go with a Glock 19 and have even more shootability, 15+1 capacity, rail for light, etc? As far as sights, I put Ameriglo Spartan night sights on the glock 43 and never looked back. Some Talon grips, and a Taran Tactical +1 floor plate (adds virtually no length) and I have 7+1 and still smaller/lighter than an XDS with the flush mag. But then again I don't mind customizing and adding things because I usually do for all my pistols.

    Shield might be the best value, and S&W's customer service is amazing.. but, That trigger is fresh garbage! I have owned 3 Shield 9mm first gen and 1 Shield 2.0 9mm and even the 2.0 had a trash trigger. The 9mm 2.0 Compact had a good trigger but my Shield 45 has a great trigger, Maybe i got lucky... I own a G43 and an XDs and the XDs trigger is better then the Glock but the Glock is WAY lighter. I like shooting the XDs better and it is more accurate and less recoil. The Xds is also made MUCH better with stainless slide and barrel and you can shoot reloads in the XDs but not the Glock. Don't get me wrong, i like the Glock and it will always be easier to sell or trade and upgrade and so on. They are comparable and it comes down to opinion and what you like. In my opinion the XDs is an upgrade compared to the Glock but i could get $100 more for the Glock. I don't like the sites on either but the XDs sites are better IMO. One gun people seem to ignore is the Ruger LC9sPro. This is the striker version of the LC9. No Mag disconnect, No thumb safety, Feels great in the hand, Same size as the Glock 43, Holds 7 rounds in the mag, Lighter then the Glock 43 also a better trigger and cheaper then most single stack 9mm guns on the market. The trigger on the LC9s or LC9sPro is SO amazing it is up there with or better then Sig Striker fired triggers. You have to feel that LC9s/LC9sPro trigger to understand.
    Great Videos, Thanks for sharing.

    Why is this guy fighting the fact that the glock is smaller in every dimension (length?) and the reset is shorter on the glock.

    Any video involving a compact carry firearm which brings in a tape measure is going on the record for "stupid" to start the words. If you want to carry a slim firearm then all sizes matter more than "about 3/4 of an inch". Sorry but I cant finish a video starting this poor on specs of firearms that people want to know about

    Taran Tactical is the name of the company and I just received two one round extensions from them and will be ordering two more two round extensions as soon as I can get a hold of a couple of extra G43 mags (not holding my breath). They are great perfect fit for my hand. I'd post a pic but it won't let me. tarantacticalinnovations.com or check out some customer photos on their fb page facebook.com/TaranTactical?fref=ts

    First of all that is a ridiculous statement that the Msrp of a firearm is the means of which you should use to compare them. It's not a car. A German firearm like a Glock is always going to cost more than an American made S&W. Second of all the Smith Shield is the over all better gun between all 3 and that's coming from some one that has 0 bias and has spent time with all three. The Shield has the better feel with recoil. Is the smaller over all firearm between all three. The XDS is heavier than a glock 26 which in my opinion shows the lack of thought that went into making that firearm and the lack of thought that went into the fact that it's a ccw. It's just too heavy. The Glock 43 is also an over all fail. Why it is only 6+1 bewilders me especially considering the grip is the same size as the flush XDS, and clearly Glock knows how to make a more concealable weapon. The Glock 42 was a great example of that idea The Shield has a much shorter foot note in the slide than both, and is pretty much the exact same size in grip length as the XDS, and is 2oz lighter than the XDS and 2oz heavier than the Glock 43 but is 1 round more with the flush and 2 more with the stock extended mag. They are all single stack firearms, the real world difference in price between all three is no more than $50-$100. This time around the best overall firearm has a bonus of being the cheapest one. Lastly, it's not "weird" that a firearm's slide locks with a mag in it. That's normal. Thank you for the review, but the reason the Shield and the 43 are always compared is because the XDS just isn't as good or well designed ad either of them.

    I would like to know why a Glock costs the ridiculous price they do? They have absolutely no features, crappy sights and triggers and ugly as hell. I don't like how they have Leo price and general public price either. I can tell ya I won't buy one.

      plain and simple there basically slapping anthor $150 just because it has the name glock! The gun really has no features what so ever. The s&w shield is going for 350 to 380 here at my local gun stores while the xds I purchased mine for 470 out the door which is still a tad bit expensive for a single stack 9mm but you can't beat the features it comes with awesome steel sights there mags are complete quality and there free 3 mag rebate is a no brainer! Now the glock is going for the same price with only 2 mags cheap plastic sights and you get one less round smh... in that case might as well carry a revolver don't you think?
