I've been a firearms instructor for nearly 18 years and I've carried a Springfield XD9mm for more than 15 of those. I've never had a misfire that was the fault of the weapon. The grip angle of the Glock makes it feel like a brick in my hand.

I carry an XD and i like it. A lot of people (most) who don't like the XD trash on it simply because its sold by Springfield but its made in Croatia. They act like Springfield is trying to pull a marketing gimmick even though "Croatia" is stamped on the slide lol. But those who say "XD sucks" can never come up with any reason why it actually "sucks". A good gun is a good gun. I'm glad Springfield picked it up because I never would have got one if not for their marketing.

Well I hate to admit it, I came across this video because I needed to clean mine XD, just needed some refresher knowledge. I've been carrying my XD now for almost 20 years, Ranch manager, Personal Side Arm protection, So many life experiences that required me to always have my side arm available You might say.
I now carry it constantly without hesitation living here in Texas on the border, ( illegal immigration has become a serious problem ) and I'm always alone in the middle of nowhere checking on ranches for owners who do not live here.
I couldn't even begin to tell you how many thousands of rounds I have put through this 9 mm, it has always worked flawlessly. I have shot and handled Glocks On many occasions from my law enforcement and border patrol buddies, The Glock is a very sought after and dependable Side Arm, I guess the only thing I didn't like about it was it had a snappy feeling of un-solidness When you fired it. The Springfield Armory XD had a more solid and thicker feeling when fired, I use 16 round clips + 1 in the chamber & Cary two 16 round clips On my belt.
Anyway it's embarrassing to admit it, but I realized I had not cleaned this little guy ( wearing it daily ) for maybe the last eight years, Occasionally drawing it to shoot a feral hog or a raccoon on occasion, then re-holstering it and going about my day.
With all that's going on here on the border and in our country I knew I needed to stop and clean my XD and give it a little love, I was absolutely amazed at how filthy it was when I broke it down, it rides on my appendix and sees a lot of dirt and every day abuse from loading feeders, throwing hay to the animals, Pretty much everything you can imagine.
All I can say this guy has been through hell, extremely accurate, and has taken a beating, stay blessed everybody & Keep to cover.... Danny in Texas

I used to be the biggest Glock fan boy, until I shot an XD. Don't get me wrong, I still love Glocks and they are awesome guns, but for my shooting style and my hand size and shape, the XDs fit my hand better. Shooting the two I can get tight groupings with either weapon, however, with the XD it feels more effortless, thus it is a better gun for me. The Glock might be a better gun for you, it all depends on several factors. I have put thousands of rounds through Glocks and XDs and never had a malfunction, even with cheap ass range ammo. Glocks and XDs are both reliable weapons and you can trust your life with either one.

I grew up shooting the classics like revolvers and 1911s so I was kinda spoiled on ergos and out of the box trigger pulls when I started looking at more modern guns. I picked up a Glock and handed it right back after trying the grip and trigger pull. Tried an Xd45 and felt that familiar 1911 grip angle and way of pointing so I bought it. Got home, set up my target, backed off to 10 yards and the very first shot could not have been a more perfect bullseye. That was 2012 and that gun has never malfunctioned and I shoot it really well. They're both great guns but in my experience the XD is more refined as far as ergos, sights, and trigger and that is absolutely most important factor to me.

He gets a xD and places it next to the glock. The salesman told me that he owns both but he has own the glock a lot longer. I asked him on his humble opinion of the two which one he thought was better. He grabbed the xD and said this is now my go to gun. I finally decided on the XDM in 9mm. My first edc gun back in the day was a 2nd Gen S&W 669. It was an alum alloy frame and SS slide. The grips were black Delrin inserts. I kinda dug the silver/black combo, so of course I bought the BiTone XDM in 9 milli. I fell in love with this pistol. As they became scarce, I placed a call to SA corporate and was informed that they were discontinuing the BiTone XDM Full Frames. I snagged a second for a song and got the Gear Up packages for both since they were bought within the window. So now I was the proud owner of a pair of 4.5" XDM BiTones in 9. I carried one and made the other a range queen. While I owned the first one, I had bought several factory mags and one - hold on to your butts - ProMag 19rd mag. As you probably guessed it was a piece of...…….GOLD. It performed flawlessly with 115gr and 124gr. Never a FTF, FTE or FTFire. This is a book right? So my girlfriend in keeping with tradition, buys a Taurus PT111 G2 Black/SS slide. Also buys 3(three) 15rd ProMags and they turned the great little economy champ into a G2 Jammamatic. There was the ProMag I'd heard about. Crap. All this leading to the point of Eric's love of high cap mags. ProMag makes a 32rd mag for the XDM now. I'll be buying and testing one with my guns. So to wrap up this rival to War & Peace, let me finish with telling you that I love the XD platform so much that I now have a 3.8" Full Frame XDM in 9 milli for edc. Tomorrow I'm picking up a 1st Gen leftover XDS in 9mm. I'll post the results of the 32rd XDM mag test on here later.

I don't have any experience with glocks but I have shot barreta m9, the S&W M&P 40 and I own a Springfield Armory XDM .45 and the XDM is my favorite. I love the accuracy of the XDM and the fact that you can change our the back straps to fit your hand better. My XDM is about 5 months old with over 2000 rounds and I've never had a malfunction due the ammunition or the firearm. I have held a glock and the only thing I can say out e glockenspiel that I don't like is the grip angle and size of the grip.

bought my 1st handgun, specifically chose the XD because of the safety features & long trigger pull, i want that first shot to be very purposeful. love the gun, the reset on the trigger is tight so follow up shots come quick! disassemble, cleaning, the all round fit is great.

To wobinga7 and all those who bash the XDs you clearly know nothing about them, I work in law enforcement, and I am a handloader so I have much more experience then most and I will tell you that in no uncertain terms the XD is a fantastic pistol. In fact the most accurate automatic I have ever shot is an XD tactical in 40 S&W. As to build quality I have never had any issues whatsoever with the ones I have owned/shot, to reliability of the many thousands of shots I have put downrange I have had exactly one jam due to crappy ammo, and my handloads have cycled perfectly every time. So to call them a joke is beyond stupidity. Now I am in no way shape or form saying the Glock is a sub standard gun either, but as the men on the video said the XD points more naturally, has better sights and the XD has a much more ergonomic grip to my hands but those are subjective points, you might disagree but to call the XD a poor handgun is laughable. My personal carry piece is an XDm 4.5" and I have no plans on replacing it anytime soon. It is also worth noting that I cannot work up full power handloads for a Glock since they have a partially unsupported chamber whereas the XDs have survived many a +P handload with no sign of fatigue and no bulging brass.

Bought my first firearm 3 years ago and chose an XD .45 4" service. I put tritium night sights on it and I really like it. Last year I bought a XDm 10mm 4.5" and it makes it hard to decide which to carry. The .45 is a constant and the 10mm I reserve for field carry with +P for bears. I can't see any reason to buy a 9mm now.

Truthfully, you can't go wrong either way. I have Both subs, and carry both.
Both have experienced thousands of rounds, and Both have been flawless.
    A few key factors:
    Weight: Glock noticeably weighs less
Recoil: XD's extra weight, gives the advantage to XD for less recoil.
TRIGGER: Subjective. I like Glock, others like the XD.
    SAFETY FEATURES: XD
    Comfort: subjective.
    Conceal Carry:
Although the slide on both subs has the same width, the grip on the XD is slightly thicker, which is felt in the 4-5 o'clock position. Side by side, the Glock has a shorter grip (laying upright on a table), which provides less printing possibility.
And as stated above, the Weight factor benefits Glock. Although a slight difference, the Weight is noticeable throughout the day.
If the short handle is an issue on the Glock decision, id recommend Talon grips. I just installed them, and love them.
All in all both are awesome. I couldn't decide and got the 9s, 40s, and 45s in the Compact & subcompact models. By far, my favorite 2 handgun brands

Funny. I have yet to see a XD fan whine about loosing a comparison to a Glock, the second a review puts an XD over a Glock in any category, The Glock fans come out in droves to protest and belittle the XD. That's saying something. In a post-Zombie apocalypse where only Glock owners have survived and all other pistols and rifle failures have cost their owners their lives, then this case can finally be closed. I like Glock and XD, XD's look better to me, but a good looking gun wont save lives. Glocks do malfunction, I witness this at the range just yesterday. You can't change fate, so except the idea that no matter the track records of either pistol does not always translate to the ones you own.

My only EDC now. I used to carry a Ruger Super Blackhawk. A 44 mag is not exactly a concealed weapon. Bought a XD-40 Tactical at my favorite pawn shop for $320, barely used and in great condition. First gun i ever owned that had anything polymer on it. I was nervous about it at first...then the lead bug bit. Sent 300 rounds at 20 yards and never went off mark. I love it, the main weapons i ever buy are old military rifles and handguns made in the US and small European countries. They never seem to be less than up to task. You run across one every so often that has been mistreated or was just that one bad apple, but otherwise they are some of the greatest firearms to buy. My wife and i both deer hunt with Carcanos. I have an infantry model and she has the cavalry model both full original stock. We've filled the freezer a few times with them. Only payed 300 for both.

Hickok45 was skeptical too..until he reviewed the XD, XDm and XDs he came around so much so that he bought two XDs with his own money. The others were supplied by Buds Gun Shop. He now knows what many of us knew from the start...that the XD line is a very fine firearms. I own three; Xds .45 3.3, XDm .45 4.5 and the XD9 Mod.2 Service Model. I have never had a single malfunction, never a fail to feed or fail to eject.
Many people were quick trash the XD line without having any first hand knowledge. Where I work I have had many customers come into the store with the desire to buy a Glock but when they handle any XD model they have been convinced just as Hickok45 has been.
I used to carry in rotation the Colt Series 70 1911, S&W 586 .357, XDm and the XDs both in .45ACP. When I got the XD9 Mod.2 Service Model that's all I carry.
I have never had trouble getting extra magazines for any XD product. Why? When you time your XD purchase with the SA GearUp program you can get up to three or more magazines and range bag for FREE. Buds sells the XD5016 for the XD9 Service model for $23, Cheaper Than Dirt $24 other retailers sell them for more and some for a lot less.

Recently, I came upon a Glock 19 Gen4 for an unreal price, dried fired it, what a piece of crap trigger. Then the salesman said, oh for $250 you can put in blah blah trigger, then new sites, match grade barrel, Talon Grips, shoot, I surpass the price of an XDM that I am already in love with. By the way, I can feed any of my XDM's ANTHING and NEVER do I have a problem. In fact, last time I went to the range, I mixed a bunch of different ammo in my 45 magazine, not one hitch. From an LEO perspective, if you get into a fight with a subject and they somehow get your gun, If you can get a hand on it and break their grip, the gun wont go off. And you MIGHT have a tiny bit more chance of not getting shot with your own service weapon. I train with the XD where a subject gets my gun different ways and i practice breaking the grip where the suspect either has a finger on the trigger or the grip safety but not both.

Solid shooter I installed a Holosun 509C optic on it. It has sent a few hundred rounds down range even a few dozen solid lead rounds. Not on failure to load, fire, extract or to eject. It really says something when you review a gun, and that review remains relevant and informative 10 years later. Thanks.
For my two cents, I have never shot a handgun that comes close in accuracy, comfortable-to-shootness (I made that up), pointability and reliability as my XD-m 4.5 in .45 acp.
I can't bad mouth Glocks. I can only say that I personally hate the grip squareness and angle, and trigger. Not surprising, I can't shoot it as comfortably and accurately as my XD-m.
I'm glad to know that there are at least two notable, super reliable choices out there.

I’m more accurate with the XD, I’ll say that much.

I'd love to see you guys compare the Beretta 92 series to the SIG Sauer P226. Most people seemed to be pretty torn to one or another during the U.S. military trials almost three decades ago. It'd be interesting to see the Moss Pawn take on them!

That would be interesting.. I've owned both and would take a Sig over a Beretta any day.

Great video comparison. I’ve been leaning toward the Springfield XD40 for carry, your video pushed me closer to that decision. Thanks👋🏻

There is ONE weakness to the Glocks that have the polymer guide rods. Those guide rods DO break at times...cure; steel guide rod, like in the XD.

I happen to own both guns, Glock 19 Gen 3 and XD9mm and I love both of them. Both are simple, easy to use, durable and reliable as any gun can be. Thanks for this video, you have pointed out the advantages and disadvantages of one over the other. But after all that was said, you can't go wrong with any of these two.

Me too man. I like the trigger on the Glock better because the CXD reset is garbage BUT man is that XD comfortable and reliable. My g19 sights chipped away within 2 hours but it is a great gun that aside. Both are great.

I don't like Glock BUT hold onto that gen 3 it's gonna be worth it's weight in diamonds
