Ann Wilson, one of the greatest female rock vocalists of all time. Nancy Wilson, one of the great guitarists, male or female and also a great singer.

That feeling is when you’ve discovered a fold in space time, when a song from 40 years ago sounds like yesterday and time dissolves away. It’s spiritual.

There is no possible way to make you understand how it felt to be standing in a crowded living room of a basement apartment, and having someone put this album on the turntable of the stereo system, and to hear this incredible band, fronted by these two incredible women, for the first time. It was the summer between my high school graduation and my feeble attempt at college studentry. That first listen was mind-blowing, and all I could think was that I was damned fortunate to be hearing it on a good stereo system for the first time, rather than on the crummy sounding am radio in my dad's old car

While the track is a story from Ann Wilson's history, it has become very much Nancy Wilson's signature song because of the acoustic guitar mastery she displays in the introduction. I saw them live on the Dog & Butterfly tour in 1978. They were (and still have been in the 2000s) a fantastic live show. While they have been icons for women in rock, they were legends in the Seattle music scene, so much so that they were seen as heroes for the rising grunge bands of the 90s that came from that area. Members of Alice in Chains have performed with them over the years.

Nancy is playing an "Ovation" acoustic/electric in the opening. I have one. The nice thing about them is you can play it like any acoustic, but you can also plug it into an amp to rock out. Great guitar.

I was rockin' out to Heart in 76 at 9 years old. I was a huge Kiss fan at that age, but i always found different albums to listen to from family laying around. I'd put on a record and put on these giant headphones and explore the album cover while listening. It was a simpler time and a better time if you ask me.

Hey, brother... Never apologise for going back and replaying a piece of a song so you can really hear and appreciate it. Sometimes it takes more than one listening to soak it all in. Its nothing that thousands of us haven't done before when listening to these classics. We want to hear those bits again too! It just means that "you get it" and frankly when people gloss over the brilliant bits without recognition, its almost an insult to the artist. Keep up the great work.

Imagine hearing this song onboard an aircraft carrier on a six month Mediterranean Cruise off the coast of Italy in 1977 that was my introduction. The intro of Nancy was an echo of the guitars i had heard in Spain so I was WOW this is a female playing this. The rest of Dreamboat Annie as a sailor out at sea I appreciated this album from the waves of the sea hitting shore to the sounds of the seagulls a welcoming sight because they are testament that land is near. Thanks for this.

Ann and Nancy Wilson are legends. Floor Jansen's voice has been compared by many to Ann's powerful and beautiful woman-in-charge style and talent. Nancy, meanwhile, is legendary in her own right for her guitar prowess, good looks, and energetic style of showmanship. She was one of our signature lead customers to endorse our Ovation Roundback guitar that was originally invented and manufactured at our company. Our CEO, who incidentally was also the inventor of our U.S. Navy Seasprite helicopter, was once asked in a televised interview by Aviation Week & Space Technology Magazine how did a military helicopter company ever get involved in making guitars. Without skipping a beat, he answered because guitars and helicopters are really the same thing at their essence. They are both machines designed to control vibrations in a certain way and make them do what you want them to do. Pretty good analogy and an interesting viewpoint! I did some of finite element analysis on the Ovation guitar design back in the day. Sadly, I never got to meet Ann & Nancy in person even though I think they visited our plant headquarters once for a marketing promotional appearance.

I love Heart’s lyrics because they’re feminine without being saccharine or overly sentimental the way some singers get. Without Heart, I never would have known love is evening breeze touching your skin. Without Heart, I never would have dreamt I was a willow bent down over a stream of sweet flowing love. And yes, they sound just as good as they’re recordings.

Nancy's guitar solo at the beginning is called "Silver Wheels" on the studio track. Interestingly, not only does she repeat one of the sections here, she also inserts a section that comes from a song from "Dog and Butterfly," called "Hijinx." That album was released the same year as this concert.
