    This is my second comment. I just finished baking my fourth loaf of sourdough bread. There are two critical variables in determining when a loaf is done: 1) a proper golden crust, and 2) internal temperature. No other oven that I know of has an internal probe that will accurately show you (from your cell phone, no less) what that internal temperature is. Doneness should be somewhere around 205F to 210F and the crust should be a dark golden brown. Like I said in my previous comment cooking is an art that requires proper study and thought to master. Anybody can buy brushes and paint. Becoming Michelangelo is a different story. Some people have trouble taking the top off of their tube of paint let alone using it to create a masterpiece. Anova can give you the tools. Using them properly is another matter. One of the challenges of Anova is that you can do so many things with the precision oven it's not as simple as shoving a pan inside, turning on the switch, and taking the finished product out 45 minutes later. Like I said, Mr. Keyz owes Anova an apology. His inability and arrogance in blaming someone else for his ineptitude is disgraceful. The oven is a wonderful tool but, again, not everyone with a handsaw and a set of chisels is a cabinetmaker. Like the marketing materials state - the Anova is for the serious amateur cook.

    The Anova, Instant Pot and Vitamix are my three favorite appliances in my kitchen. I'm wondering if your pairing issue was due to maybe your phone connecting to the 5ghz band on your router, as the Anova can only connect to the 2.4ghz band. I usually use the 5ghz band on my router, and I had a little difficulty getting this to pair but when I connected my phone to 2.4ghz and tried again, it paired flawlessly with no issues.

    Thanks for the limited review! I bought one before I saw your review and I had a similar issue with pairing. Somewhere along the line I received a prompt to restart my Bluetooth and when I did it all connected fairly quickly.

    Glad I didn't watch the full 16 minutes for a non-review. Possibly yours was faulty, maybe a network issue for you.
    Mine paired first time and has worked great since. I use it every second day.

      @KeyzLife  3 года назад

      Hey Adam! I’m sure not everybody has the same issue I did. And I’m sure there are some people, including yourself, who are happy with it. Personally I don’t make a giant ass turkey or chicken every day. Also, for the price there are so many better ovens available, that are not as gigantic, that have so many more capabilities and features. I definitely stand by my thoughts on this oven and it’s a no go on a recommendation from me. But again I’m happy to hear somebody is having success with it and enjoying it!
      What kind of meals do you normally prepare in it?

      @@KeyzLife Cheers for the reply. I pretty much use it for everything instead of my already good wall oven. Last night I bagless sous vide of pork rack for 4 hrs @60c before a hot finish under the broiler. Perfect, even, juicy pork. Night before I steamed whole fish in banana leaf. All roasts are done in it. I've made creme brulee in it (temp control is PERFECT for egg dishes). It reheats meals perfectly (WAY better than a microwave, just takes a few minutes longer) and it reheats pizza like I was just made fresh! Adding a bit of steam to just about any roasting recipe really cuts down the cook time because of better heat transfer. Did a lamb shoulder a while back - 54c for 12hrs after a quick BBQ sear, the MOST tender and juicy meat ever :). Shame you couldn't get the wifi to work (maybe a dud module, but Anova very good about replacements and returns) because the staged cooks in the app are brilliant and being able to control and monitor long cooks is a game-changer. My unit developed crazing in the water tank (known issue) but has yet to leak, and I already have the replacement tank from Anova but haven't needed it yet.
      Sure, it's not perfect, and they have had to cut costs to make it affordable, but you can cook in ways you can't in any other appliance )without a LOT of faf!)

      Not being able to connect shows up fairly frequently in the FB user groups. I got lucky and mine connected first try.
      The APO is first gen, and has teething issues, some that have been corrected since I got mine last October, some that still still need to be fixed.
      For me it is worth the hassles, I'm more new gadget freak rather than a foodie and this oven lets me turn out dishes that I wouldn't normally have the skill for.

    For someone that tried to open the oven from the packing stickers still on, your view of this oven is MUTE, I have one Im in Australia and it's flawless, connected straight away and works perfectly, the connection requires 2.4GHz not 5GHz the oven is amazing.

    The Anova app and pairing are the weak link this product. I have the oven. After many tries I got the app to pair but it loses connection from time to time. Why is any WiFi device 2.4ghz only and not dual band 2.4&5.0. I still like the oven.

    Is it possible your phone was connecting to 5GHZ and the oven the 2.4GHZ band which was causing the conflict? I just purchased a Joule Soud vide and will be returning it due to the inability to reliably connect to the app. I will be using the Anova with redundant screen instead. In the past I realized it is my ROUTER that causes such conflicts and is not the fault of the product you are setting up.

  • @rickseneris
    @rickseneris 2 года назад +2

    You didn't even give it a serious effort to work for you. The Anova Oven's WiFi is the easiest one to set up. Mine works good and sous vides great at twice faster using the thermometer to read the target core temperature. It sears too in the oven.

    • @springriver5651

      To add on, up till now, though I have finally managed to pair after many tries, it wouldn’t connect after that. So I can’t use the features on the phone and can only use the basic buttons on the physical oven instead.

    • @KeyzLife
      @KeyzLife  3 года назад

      Haha....
      1. Maybe you should actually watch the video. To get the oven functioning you need to get it setup using the app first.
      2. Maybe you should consider another awesome smart oven over this beautiful piece of garbage Annova. Check my other videos for some ideas. P.S. I have a Tovala and a June on my countertop right now.
      Good luck and let me know what you end up going with!

      @@KeyzLife now that's useful information
      basically its crippled if it's not set up with the app first....which like its sous vide counter part, is the most useless add on feature ever...
      still, once set up, can you do steam only, can you do convection only, can you do a mixture of the 2 without the app?
      that's what's important for most users
      the app is a novelty that most people only use once and never touch it again
      don't get me wrong, it's great that you are spending your time and money to buy up different ovens for review, but useful information would make it feel like less of a click bait
      yes, I'm an ass, I just tell it like it is

      @@KeyzLife The oven works without being connected, but it does lose the ability to program multiple steps and having recipes that set up the steps on the oven.
      Connection issues aside, during early days the app had more issues than now, and I'd frequently would use the oven without it.

    You should remove this review. It's literally a waste of time and your standup comedy is... terrible! I had no problems setting my oven up and have used it to roast chicken, cook multiple times in a Dutch oven, and bake (first time) a fantastic loaf of artisan sourdough bread. I do all my settings from my iPhone 6S. I can even fetch various recipes through my phone. I have to emphasize, however, this is not the same thing as throwing a frozen burrito into a microwave oven. You need to think about what you are doing and monitor temperatures and stages with some level of intelligence. This is a wonderful tool but a tool does not an accomplished craftsman make. You need to master the craft (which is an ongoing challenge) and even develop it if you can. My advice? Stick to commercial real estate and stop wasting people's time.

    Nice click bait with your banana review. If you really want to review this product, make sure you get a replacement before you even upload the video, instead of trying to show us how bad luck you are which we are certainly not interested with, just talk to anova CS because you probably doing it the wrong way.

      Thanks Z D. If I couldn't get it to work out of the box, as someone who understands smart devices, smart phones, apps, the difference betweeen a 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz network, etc. It ended up being a good unboxing video at least. If ANOVA gave a crap, they would reach out and make things right or offer to help when I asked to return it. Sure as I mentioned, we debated to even post this since it wasn't a full review as intended.
      Thanks for the comment and watching a video that you weren't interested in lol

FYI.. I love your banana too . lol..
