Covid has 2020 Kenji looking like 2007 Cook's Illustrated Kenji. Someone needs to be posted just off camera holding a fan so his hair constantly looks like it blowing in the wind.
I support the off camera fan 😂. I say this with hair growing half way down my back, color grown out, raggedy as all hell, because I’m a healthcare worker refusing to risk getting my hair done and wearing it in a bun for life I guess. Or at least the foreseeable future.🤷♀️
Was interested in this oven for steam injection for bread but figured it wasn't worth it just for that. Then you mentioned the sous vide oven aspect and I'm like woahhhh HOW can I convince my wife
I've been so curious about this thing ever since I first heard about it. Kenji you've really inspired me to cook a whole lot more in the last few months (your book and videos have been of immense help). Can't wait to hear your thoughts about the oven as you eventually try it out!
He said all of our theories are wrong, but we all know he simply created a pocket dimension containing his dream kitchen with his eldtrich cooking knowledge. You can't fool us kenji B¬)
Awesome Sauce !!! I was really hoping to see a good reviewer look at this. I hope you are going to go well beyond unboxing and let us know how well this works later on, Kenji. Also - oh, see through fridge door. Fancy. Nice view out the window.
I like how the writers put in that subtle cabinet fix and now in this season he's moving. You've really gotta pay attention in this show, it's the little things.
Unboxing is totally a RUclips thing. The oven is amazing. Our big range packed it in a couple weeks before my Anova was set to be delivered, after using the Anova the range is not getting replaced. Bread, eggs, pizza, baking, seafood cooked to perfection; I haven’t discovered anything I can’t do in it.
I'm gonna miss that old kitchen Kenji, that terra cotta floor got me through covid lockdown! Can't wait to see the renovations...maybe a Kenji DIY series is in the works!!!
kenji you've inspired me to get back into cooking - at least persue a KA job - obvs job sitch is crappy- but i was disheartened with cooking and uve reinspired me so thank you!
I love unboxing videos because they show you what you actually get. Not enough product manufacturers have pictures of the non ideal angles for me to see how something actually plugs into the rest of the world.
Very different video from normal, but appreciated nevertheless. In your review, when talking about the features and things that it can / can't do relative to circulators, toaster ovens, etc, would you highlight some of the key overlaps between kitchen devices, and where they differ? From the brief demo and discussion, it seems like this device could have a lot of multi-tasker potential and free up some countertop space. Hope all is going smoothly with the move!
I loved this video! If I didn’t know any better I would say this is not your first on camera unboxing! You seemed so natural and in your zone. I really enjoyed this video I think we all agree you keep these unboxing videos coming!! AWESOME JOB 👏🏼
Can't wait for your review of this new home kitchen oven. Thinking about a Wolf countertop oven for about the same price, but will await your review now. Wish temp topped out at 550F instead of 480 F. All your shows great - subscribed.
To get a more tactual feel on those touch controls, I stick on "bump dots" - they come in different sizes and colors. If find it helpful on my toaster/MW when I stumble into the kitchen in the morning.
In college in the late 90s early 2000s it was ecstasy and weed. There was coke around, but I didn’t partake. (in fact, I started cooking for my fraternity house partially because we had to fire the cook for doing coke in the living room and selling it to students)
We have 3-4 Olfa cutters at home and every single one was from when I was an architecture student. In fact we’re still working through a 50-pack of blades I bought in 1999.
I use to have an artist supply store with plenty of arch. students ... favorite customers especially before the last all nighter to finish models :-) good luck!
Your Sous Vide recipes on the ANOVA website are what initially brought me here. Thanks for those recipes as I've cooked many awesome meals thanks to you.
I came so close to ordering one of these. I don't really have the room in my small kitchen unfortunately. Very interested to hear what your thoughts on it are after using it.
Keep in mind this is the first version of the home. They'll only get better as time goes on. Granted this seems like a pretty good start. But hey if you have the money to blow, go nuts
I can't say that Anova specifically is the future of home cooking, but affordable consumer sized combi ovens may just become top dog in the coming years. Though I thought products like the Sous Vide Supreme water oven would become a lot more popular than it did when I bought mine 7 odd years ago.
Can it keep fried food crispy for a long period of time? I love the idea of a home version for the cvap, i hope you'll let us knows your thoughts on this oven in the future.
Hey kenji, I know the odds are that you won't see this, but is there any chance we could get a further look into the oven? Id love to see some comparisons to traditional ovens and perhaps steamers. I was looking into getting this as my main oven, (only cooking for one and limited space) and wondering if it would be sufficient.
I am waiting for my steam oven to arrive. Can you post some Serious Eats best recipes using the Anova Precision Oven and compare to Sous Vide or the original way of cooking? Also since it is App based, will you posting recipes to the oven app?
Kenji says he would test the oven, and I’m still waiting four months later. (Actually I just learned about this oven, and was hoping to hear some review feedback instead of just opening the box ). Thanks.
My first thought was where in the world am I going to put this thing, then I remembered a quote about a RCA executive when he said where are people going to put these television things in their house and the answer he got was right where the radio is.
RUclips has been recommending your old videos at Cook’s illustrated for me, with a 10-year-younger Kenji in longer hair. When I saw this video thumbnail with the luscious hair I had to do a double take 😂
Kenji's really stepped up his kitchen, deservedly so. Let's be honest, the old kitchen wasn't that great, but he made it work. This one looks to be some serious leveling up.
Heya kenji curious would you ever consider doing a video about opening a restaurant and whynyoundecided to go with your style of restaurant and do you ever feel constricted by your choices?
My speculation about why Kenji has a new kitchen:
He moved into a new house.
111 222 this one gets it.
J. Kenji López-Alt 😂 sometimes the biggest questions have simple answers.
You may be onto something.
@@JKenjiLopezAlt But the big question is: Did you move closer to or further away from Kismet?
big if true
Kenji tryna get that Garnier Fructis sponsorship.
🤣
Ahahahhahaha
I died
Right! He has some awesome hair.
Not gonna lie that took me out 🤣😂
Covid has 2020 Kenji looking like 2007 Cook's Illustrated Kenji. Someone needs to be posted just off camera holding a fan so his hair constantly looks like it blowing in the wind.
That was 2009-era serious eats Kenji!
I support the off camera fan 😂.

@@JKenjiLopezAlt Maybe we'll see you revert to America's test kitchen kenji!
I’d need to lose 50 pounds.
@@JKenjiLopezAlt And bring back the eyebrow piercing??
Kenji I’m loving the luscious locks
I was thinking the same damn thing!
Yeah, I saw the video screenshot and I was like who is this suave debonair looking at me
"I hear unboxing things is like a RUclips thing"
Kenji out here like 10 years late lol
Hey my man stays on top of the culinary world. Can't expect him to follow everything lol
Yeah but he can start a new trend. If he doesn't like a product, he can do a "boxing video" where he puts on gloves and punches it!
Was interested in this oven for steam injection for bread but figured it wasn't worth it just for that. Then you mentioned the sous vide oven aspect and I'm like woahhhh HOW can I convince my wife
Kenji nonchalantly answering the coke question and moving on made my day
I laughed out loud when he answered that and I went back to double check that he actually answered that
timestamp?

Thomas Peeters thanks :)
I thought maybe it was a typo from the commentor 😂
For years I complained about not having steam ovens at home. Definitely getting one of these.

Kenji Rockin the Covid Mullet 🤟!
It's pronounced moolay... 🤠
Lol so real. I just got my pandemic mullet cut two days ago.
Jeffrey Lorien actually is moo-jet.
J. Kenji López-Alt maybe in Argentina
14:32: Mr. Alt, you handle disrespect with grace. You are a true professional.
Chef stereotype i guess? Seems a little out of left field
Disrespect lol you’re sheltered
He said all of our theories are wrong, but we all know he simply created a pocket dimension containing his dream kitchen with his eldtrich cooking knowledge. You can't fool us kenji B¬)
I think that qualifies as "not even wrong".

"How something plugs into the rest of the world"- that was nicely worded.
I saw this video and thought I missed a lecture for my stat course on ANOVA
I thought of that too haha
"I'll answer one more question" *looks at scrub bar: 12 minutes out of 18* 😂You spoil us Kenji.
Kenji I just wanted to say respect to you for shouting out Yemenis 🇾🇪 in ur last chopped cheese video. ♥️‼️
New house looks amazing, congrats on your hard work Kenji!
That was lovely. Felt very natural.
I've been donating to No Kid Hungry through Chef Cycle for the past year. A great cause, thanks for supporting it!
I have a steamer oven but no clue how to use it well! Looking forward to anything you can share! My cooking has improved lots thanks to you :)

Kenji you're so pure! I love it
I too use a high precision oven to do an analysis of variances.
Lol we get to live vicariously by watching unboxing! People watching + window shopping
First an ASMR vid, now an unboxing. The algorithn will love this
Kenji is the archetypal Renaissance man!
Mine is scheduled to arrive today!! Thanks for doing this. I so look forward to what you do with it.

Thanks for bringing up bread! The steam option is awesome.
Love the windows!
14:32 🤣 Kenji, you know you don’t have to answer all the questions, right?
He just wanted to make that clear!
HAHAHAHAHAHA
he's more of an ice kind of guy
Joseph Teegardin i doubt Kenji does anything he doesn’t want to. He’s pretty straightforward.
In college in the late 90s early 2000s it was ecstasy and weed. There was coke around, but I didn’t partake. (in fact, I started cooking for my fraternity house partially because we had to fire the cook for doing coke in the living room and selling it to students)
I like your new counter top, Kenji!
Excited to have Kenji start to work with a combi steam oven. Looking forward to trying the recipes and techniques on my Miele CSO!
Love that you use an Olfa box cutter, a node to your degree in Arch. Respect, from an Arch student :)

Thanks for showing this i was going to spend 200$ on a convection toaster oven and now I know I want one of these pending the reviews are decent.
Love the channel. From the Midwest
Would love to see how you set up your new kitchen
This is like a commercial combi oven. So you can steam and run convection oven all at the same time or either or. Very versatile.
I was looking to replace my toaster oven on Black Friday, might be a bit too fancy for me, but it looks awesome.
Kenji you handsome man. The flow is on point!
Did you ever make a review video, I cant find it. How about revisiting this Kenji, now that you have had it for a wile.
Love your commitment youtube at the moment. Seems you're embracing content that you otherwise we're not into.
Hi Kenji! How does your Anova oven looking like? Does it do what it says it does and do you recommend it yourself? Haven’t seen you used it yet!
I can't wait for the review! Edit: please include it's ability to toast!
I came so close to ordering one of these. I don't really have the room in my small kitchen unfortunately. Very interested to hear what your thoughts on it are after using it.
I've been anxiously awaiting your review of this oven to decide whether or not I will make the purchase. Take your time and be nice and thorough!
Me too, it seems like a great product if it works as advertised, I’d like to get one before Christmas
Keep in mind this is the first version of the home. They'll only get better as time goes on. Granted this seems like a pretty good start. But hey if you have the money to blow, go nuts
Congrats on the move!
Looking forward to a follow up to this video :-) Has the oven been working wonders since last :-) or not :-( ? Thanks :-)
Hair is looking good! But really I am here for the science bits
I hope you think it works well because mine is coming in a week!
Enjoy your new kitchen!
Do you think we could get a statistical comparison between this and other ovens? It would be an Anova ANOVA.
this is the comment I was looking for
I can't say that Anova specifically is the future of home cooking, but affordable consumer sized combi ovens may just become top dog in the coming years. Though I thought products like the Sous Vide Supreme water oven would become a lot more popular than it did when I bought mine 7 odd years ago.
100nitrog sous vide supreme < immersion circulator
What sorts of decisions go into how you organize a new kitchen? Is there anything you look for when moving in?
Kenji, do you have a review for this?
Nice Kenji! I have one on order myself!
what a good guy! thanks for the wholesome content and amazing, rigorous cooking
Please let us know how this works as a toaster 🙏. This was one of my biggest questions about this oven.
Any word on when you will be reviewing the oven? My finger is hovering over that buy button lol but I would love to hear your thoughts on it first.
"I don't know why I'm touching that with my bare hands, that was pretty stupid."
Dunno why but that gave me a good laugh.
Would love to see how this bakes bread. We don't own a toaster oven and bake a lot of bread. The steam function seems like it might be a game changer.
Best unboxing ever!
Ok, Kenji, it's been over a month,,,,tell us about it! Love your shows by the way,,,good cooking.
Man in the first 10 seconds of this video, Kenji looked like he was a man on a mission.
Can it keep fried food crispy for a long period of time?
I love the idea of a home version for the cvap, i hope you'll let us knows your thoughts on this oven in the future.
Great video. Are you wearing earings?
Is this oven enough to replace a full-size oven if you're only cooking for one? I'm excited about the bread baking possibilities.
I am soooo glad they remembered to include the doo hickies! Lol
Hey kenji, ever going to do the review for this?
Do you ever dehydrate food/ingredients?
i just got the cookbook for my bday and its the book is really good
Does being steam based mean it's harder to get a sear at the end because the outside is still 'wet' or is that not the case?
Hey kenji, I know the odds are that you won't see this, but is there any chance we could get a further look into the oven? Id love to see some comparisons to traditional ovens and perhaps steamers. I was looking into getting this as my main oven, (only cooking for one and limited space) and wondering if it would be sufficient.
Kenji your hair looks great LOL
I am waiting for my steam oven to arrive. Can you post some Serious Eats best recipes using the Anova Precision Oven and compare to Sous Vide or the original way of cooking? Also since it is App based, will you posting recipes to the oven app?
Any updates on this Kenji?
Kenji - any chance you're still planning on reviewing this? Have you been using it? Do you recommend it?
jealous! Its expensive atm for my home according to others that live in said home lol
I like the hair Kenji!
Kenji says he would test the oven, and I’m still waiting four months later. (Actually I just learned about this oven, and was hoping to hear some review feedback instead of just opening the box ). Thanks.
@ Kenji: Any chance to see a full review video? I am really interested in your opinion
i love mine. prime rib - 12minutes per pound at 250F then bottom heat no steam 140F for 6 hours. edge to edge rare. pasteurized beef.
Kenji, how about that review?
Hi kenji. Looking forward to some more videos on this oven. Can you cook some sous vide stuff in it in your more detailed review please
Kenji, you done with your moving boxes? Can I have them?
My first thought was where in the world am I going to put this thing, then I remembered a quote about a RCA executive when he said where are people going to put these television things in their house and the answer he got was right where the radio is.
