This is the best review of the oven I've seen. It shows the practical functionality, discusses some pros/cons, and doesn't waste a lot of time with filler. Thank you.
Great, comprehensive review by someone who knows what they are talking about. Loving my Anova oven, the regular built-in oven rarely gets used because the APO is so much more efficient, even for simple, basic cooks.
Best review I've seen in terms of content and presentation of the functionality of the oven and supporting app. You have a new subscriber. I cannot wait to check out some of your other content. Cheers!
Glad you posted the toast, it clearly isn't good as a both sides of the bread toaster until warmed up? It may be fantastic at more complicated tasks, wish it were a pressure oven as well ay 700 bucks, heck perhaps a smoker and a still as well. Hopefully a firmware update will fix the timer function not turning the oven off, that's silly, or maybe there is a setting or workaround.
Lucky parents. I hope that if i ever raise kids they would buy me presents like this for Christmas😊 Do you think they will like all the tech functions?
@@NigerianKitchen 😄 I think my mom will enjoy the steam option and app function with recipes. I am excited to try it as well, I am even bigger of a cook than my mom and I want to try my salmon dishes in there and meringue, but I don't have space for this in my condo😋 win win
Hi! I'm not sure if you've heard about the water tank cracking. A couple of users on FB have noticed crazing (crack lines) on their tank after 2 months and gotten theirs replaced. To prevent this a few suggested using aluminum tape to wrap around the tank to prevent direct heat and steam from contacting it. This is highly recommended if u aren't aware to save u the headache from needing a replacement. By the way thanks for the video :)
Thanks. Yeah you're right about the cracks. I've already got some. From what I have read is never been so bad that anyone has experienced water leakage but it does seem an oversight from anova to not have the tank but protected against the heat of the oven. Still a great oven despite this though.
Hi, just found your channel and became a new sub. I am considering getting the Anova Oven and was searching for Anova Unboxing & reviews of this product. Your video was excellent and completely convinced me to take the plunge. I know I won't be disappointed Thanks so much! Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
Awesome review! I was going to do a review on my RUclips channel but dude, you slammed it👍! You saved me a lot of time reviewing and video editing. No reason to duplicate what you had already accomplished. Thank you for a wonderful review! I definitely subscribed.😎
Agree with previous speakers, by far the most informative review if the oven out there, thumbs up! 🙂 Could you consider doing a like 9 months later update of it? Would be interesting to hear what you think of it after using it a longer period of time. For example whats good, whats missing and what could be better etc. know of any good alternatives, rumor’s etc.
Traditionalists are not dumb. It is a good oven for everyone who wants to cook for up to 4 ppl. It can heat up for 250 celsius(with a stone you can make a 8/10 pizza), you can steam your potato to make restaurant quality spuds and chips. You can put your roast in, set up a programme, go to the church, and when you are back the meat is almost ready without a supervision, etc...
I bought ANOVA oven. Used it to cook 14 pound turkey for delectable result. Purchased a pan on Amazon with 2 inch depth. Deep enough to catch drippings and shallow enough to clear the back heater. Amazon description is below: Stainless Steel Baking Sheet with Rack Set Tray Cookie Sheet & Oven Pan with Cooling Rack,Non Toxic&Healthy Sheet PanRust Free Less Stick, Thick & Sturdy, Easy Clean & Dishwasher Safe (XL) Brand: TCOOME If you need an extra rack fro Amazon: Hamilton Housewares Stainless Steel Cooling Rack - Heavy Duty and Oven Safe, Good for Cooling, Baking and Roasting - Fits Half Sheet Pans - Perfect for Cookies, Cakes & More (12" x 17") Brand: Hamilton Housewares Happy ANOVA cooking!
Thank you for sharing your review. I'm just wondering if I can remote control the oven when I am not at home, is it possible to control the oven through the app? For instance, can I start the preheat procedure while I'm outside the house? And can I switch off the oven once my food is cooked while I'm away? It would be great if you could answer my queries, thank you!
If you mean could you put whole bag of vacuumed sealed food into the oven then the answer is yes. The temperature is comparatively low in sous vide mode. The steam inside the oven is what transfers a lot of the heat to the food. The advantage of the sous vide mode in the oven is that you don't need to use bag as much.
@@u8myshorts yeah, your right about that. I will say that you can the surface actually coming out a little drier and browner using oven sous vide, without affecting the inside much, which I like.
Great review! Does the Anova Oven work well for quickly toasting bread and warming things like croissants in the morning in a hurry? Is it a good replacement for a traditional toaster oven?
Loved this vídeo and review. Can i ask you one question. Do you think this oven is a good tool on a restaurant? Or its just good to use at home? I'm asking this cause i want to buy a multifuncional oven to my moms restaurant, and all of the so called "professional" equipaments are way to expensive.. hope you answer this question. Keep on going 👌👌
thanks Fabio. glad your found it useful. with regards your question the answer is that it really depends on the restaurant circumstances and intended use. Has it got professional level features that would come handy in a professional kitchen? my answer would be yes. Would it stand constant all day use, aggressive opening and slamming of the door, greasy fingers poking at the electronic panel display? Not sure how long it would last under those circumstances. I don't think it was built for that kind of professional use.
Partly. If speed is of the essence I will still use the microwave but yeah I use this oven much more for reheating as you can get a much more gentle reheat and with the use of the steam your food won't be dried out.
I would say that that would depend on how you use your microwave. If speed is the most important thing to you for a particular application then it would not replace your microwave. I have found that for generally bringing food back up to temperature I will now use the oven rather than microwave. That's because I can control the kind or texture of the reheated food. Can still maintain tender, or crunchy. Microwave can't do this. So for me personally the microwave now gets a lot less action since I have the oven.
I bought a Anova Precision Oven 4 months ago. Although I understand the design of Anova oven want to keep the food good condition and the oven is great, especially the Sous Vide and steam function, but I think it has 2 problems...(Just my experience...) 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 My wifi signal is very good, but the app always disconnect my oven. So I cannot use the oven everywhere and I cannot fall in sleep when I am using the oven, because the oven does not automatically shut off. Sometimes I am busy, so I cannot turn off at once. My food was over cooked or burned. The oven cannot automatically to turn off. It let me feel unsafety. I hope the app can make a ...mins / hours STOP setting after finish cooking, so I can set what time the oven can automatic turn off. Another problem... my old grandmother doesn’t know how to use app. Due to the Oven cannot automatically turn off and my grandmother always fall in sleep, so she cannot use this oven to cook or reheat food now. Many times her food was burned. I think the Anova oven is different with Sous Vide cooker. Sous Vide cooker works in low temp into water, but the Anova oven can work in higher temp, so the oven safety should be concerned.
You make a good point and it works be one of my biggest complaints with the oven is that there isn't a function (yet) to have the oven turn off automatically after a specific time period. I understand why you might want to the oven to keep running if you're doing more temp cooking but it is a pain for anything else
@@NigerianKitchen It sure sounds like this should be added in a gen 2 model to me. Would a separate timer on the plug itself be a viable fail safe option either app controled or even old school analog? (Sorry I fell asleep too - lol - what's the "memory" / re-setables if a power outage?
You can control some of the functions with a smart home device. I tell Alexa to set a timer also, then tell it to turn the oven off when the alarm goes off. I can also turn the oven on that way at a particular temperature, but not set the steam %. There was an announcement that Amazon was working on adding more to the controllable feature list.
yes to the first question. No to the second question but you would basically be looking to use the sous vide mode which would achieve what you are after; which is principally to cook with the heat from the steam rather than direct heat from the heating elements.
He said it yes. Professional oven at home/restaurant doesn't do this either though. Goes through some keep warm fases automatically. Maybe this one you can turn it off with app or some settting. Was a first look
Yeah. Does seem strange at first but as I.R. said this is actually true of other pro ovens. In terms of general food safety I guess that it does make some sense that the oven would not always automatically switch off after a time as that could mean your food sitting in a warm environment for a long period of time (well at least that's the only reason I could think off) or there is the fact that in general when your food is done you would normally want to take it out of the oven. However when doing this testing with the meringue it was one occasion when I would have liked to have the meringue sit in the oven for a longer period after the timer was done so it would be nice to have the option of adding an automatic switch off function. Now that I know that the oven does not switch off automatically I will just make sure I switch off manually with the app once the phone alerts me that the time is over.
You must spend a bit of time in the gym, I needed some help to get that 50 pounds of oven up on the counter. It's got some first generation issues Anova is working on, but I wouldn't be without it now.

It's the IKEA OMAR shelving unit
What's you're long term thoughts on this, just bought this coming in post :)

Could you possibly link to the metal rig you have the oven set up on? looks perfect
