  • Episode 3 is North Sterling Reservoir State Park. I took the family for a couple days of fishing and camping, and we had a great time! This was a lake I had never been to before, so we got to explore. The campground was really nice, and even though the wind blew the entire time we were there it was a great experience. The kids got to swim and had fun playing in the sand, while I tried my luck in the kayak. The lake was so full that shoreline fishing was almost impossible. We know the lake is an irrigation reservoir, so the water levels have probably already gone down since I was there. North Sterling Reservoir has a ton of different species. I probably saw more carp than anything else, but there are some quality fish here for sure. My goal was to find some Walleye, but sometimes the fish find you. I hooked into a giant, and had a wild ride trying to land it. Pro tip, don't forget your net!!!

We fished there 2 years ago. Caught some sun but nothing else. And yes, it can get windy.

Thinking about going out there this weekend and wondering what bait to use. What would you recommend?

@@oscarpulido2649 I saw it may be closed for toxic algae, so double check before you head all the way out there. If you do make it out, I would recommend the old trusty night crawler. Also would not hurt to put something that mimics a minnow on the bottom. Good luck 🤞!
