Did he have a choice? At that point, he was bound to abide his "army's" view of things... That's what I love about this ending scene. The General was trapped in their own rules.
Criminally underrated. This movie was way too long but Patton did a fantastic job of at least maintaining minimal interest in a movie that lasted at least 30 minutes longer than it should have
this movie to this day in june 2024 can be bought new copies on dvd.... and tat is gooood because none of the streaming sites i have offer this movie to watch. soon i am going to buy at least 2 dvd's of it and mayybe 3 or 4. one will be for myself the others as gifts to a few guys i think will like it.
@@MrWolfSnack thats one of the good things bout dvds. you say you have had it 20 years and likely watched it several times in that time.... and still as long as the dvd is not scratched you can put it on any time you'd like and it will play as good as the firt time you played it 20 years ago. streaming sites are good, but in the case of this movie and many others for that matter they are not on and do not stream on the sites... an/or very often streaming sites will loose movies poof gone and they can not be seen on them anymore..... as long as you have electricty, a screen, dvd player and your dvd(s) pretty much forever/many years from now/30+ years after you got this great movie on dvd into old age perhaps if want you can put it on and play it.
@@secretgarden3555the intention of the video is to showcase the climax before and build up to the fight. Not the fight. It’s a great cinematic scene between the two which, finally, sparks a physical battle after a game of chess and pawns
The movie's theme means more now than ever before. Land of the free and home of the brave. Where all people are created equal. Without barriers to the pursuit of liberty and happiness. Woe be the villains who wish to subjugate, harass, demean, and harm those who wish to prosper on these shores. To do so will invoke a righteous storm that will sweep hate and apathy from this land. We have come too far to turn back now...amen.
More than that, it is about the Christian spirit and our battle with the devil. We are all postmen, "I would die to get a letter through!" That is the message of Christ. So often we give n to the devil, instead of resisting him. Because he "Seems so strong" But faith comes from hearing "The Message"

@alwillk You are right. The movie not meant to be a religious movie. But the themes in the movie are very Christian. That was what I was speaking about. Sorry you misunderstood. Thanks for your comment.
@travisdempster4693 The values of the film aren't Christian by any means. The characters on the side of "good" don't carry within them religious values but rather values more in line with the ideals of what we hold to be true by our Forefathers and as we had since arrived to within the 20th century. The desire to have good will towards each other and the threads which bind us by the blood of those who came before us, to allow this nation to stand.... That said, I get the gist of what you meant and for that, I still gave a thumbs up. 👍
@@davideastwood309 It had it flaws like I wish there was a battle at the end. And a few pacing issues and minor other stuff but overall I enjoyed it and watch it when its on my verizon tv service lol.
“Wouldn’t it be great if wars could be fought just by the assholes who start them?” - best line in the movie
I walys like that the General has some Honor. He ( although evil) respects the Laws of the Clan he created.
He didn’t create it. Nathan holn did.

Favorite part is when he shows that brand marking. Such a plot twist in the enemy leaders eyes
I love how Kevin reprised his horse ride from Dances awuth Wolves!!

Sadly its not complete. The best is the end of the fight, wich was suprising, but very interesting.

The movie has nothing to do with religion. The book even less so.
