I'm in a situation right now where I get so annoyed with what my friends have not realizing I've already started to envy them. I am so sad that they have this life that I don't have. So angry that I was born in a poor family. My heart feels so heavy with sadness and anger. I feel so bad right now because they are my friends. I should be happy of what they have. Listening to this story again reminds me to always be grateful of what I have. My heart is so heavy but I feel like there's an elephant's foot taken out of my chest. I'm glad I watched this video. God really has so many amazing ways giving us answers to our questions ❤️
Amen! Praise God He has given an awareness to you and you can confess and renounce and be restored in the Sacrament of confession. And, dear friend, your humility is beautiful, and it sounds like you are found in Jesus’ beatitudes which means that you have spiritual blessings well beyond what others have materially.
Up until yesterday I believed I had no one. Never married, no kids, little family I had I fled as soon as I was able to escape the abuse. Can't trust anyone so no friends either (have them for a bit, depression/anxiety kick in & lose touch.) God is always here for us though. We are never alone, he is by our side and takes pity on the "widows & orphans" of this cruel world (the whole of it under the sway of the evil one, remember.) Even when I ignorantly turned my face from Him, He never turned away from me. God loves us, and I pray you find peace on this earth.

Everyone has problems. Some people keep their problems very well hidden, but they are there. I'm older, so I've witnessed the downfall of couples and families who at one time appeared to have it all. I know people who have beautiful homes and lots of money, yet they have addictions, troubled children, legal battles, or are victims of adultery or ongoing abuse. I have very little material possessions due to the cards life has dealt me, yet I count my blessings for God's grace and where I stand today.
You're the one with the issues. They do not have to change or apologise for succeeding in life. You need to look in the mirror and ask yourself why you are comparing to them rather than working on yourself. Laziness is the answer. You're lazy and don't want to put in the work that they are putting in.
I'm not a religious man, sorry if that disappoints, but your advice and wisdom has been a tremendous help in some difficult times in my life. This channel is a shining example of what the catholic or any other church should be. Thank you again father.
I struggled with this a lot a number of years ago. I found one cure for envy is to praise the person you are envying, genuinely praised them. I did this and my envy disappeared.
I've never heard envy described as a "sadness", but it's so true. I'm sad that I'm not good at anything and I'm not who I want to be, but it leads me to intense, anger-inducing envy. I feel slighted, and like you said "blinded to my own blessings". I don't wanna see them, because then I won't have an excuse to covet so much. It's such a terrible sin, but it feels so hard to overcome when you're low and behind and can't succeed at anything. This really hit home.
Thank you for your repentance toward this if I can counter what you said I can say you good at being honest and transparent and that always a blessing like you just were for me I feel the same about myself but ❤ I’m grateful for your post

Great talk. I needed this. The Spirit is convicting me of Envy, and it’s rampant with me. I’ve tried the new-age-y thing of Gratitude Attitude. But it doesn’t LAST, and is contingent on your mood or mind set. But OUR FATHER never changes! He is the ETERNAL FATHER! I will watch for His gaze and rejoice in who I am in Him. Thx Fr. Mike!
To envy is to know you are not as good as another. Incredibly blessed Christians obviously have incredible hearts. That is why they are so blessed. And on down the line....blessings according to our heart conditions. Somebody will always b blessed more than u. Become a better person and increase your blessings:)

I don't think I will ever be without envy so I have sort of given up that fight. I just want my life to get better.
My favorite video so far. I struggle with this daily.
ur not the only one.. express your negative side so that you may face them, and express them so that they may be transcended, only you can do that... you have the ability to heal yourself simply by expressing
I love the fact that the Patriots have a Bible study each week and pray before their games. I myself have even been hated in my own family for being a fan with furious words hurled at me in the past week when they won the SB. I try to be grateful and happy anyway.
When you define it so accurately, envy does sound rather silly
Needed to hear this today. God please give me the strength to stop feeling this way and to stop acting on these emotions.
Beautiful ... I pray to remember this during times of insecurity
Gracias por iluminarme con estos consejos! Bendiciones!
I could never understood Envy, yet I meet people who are envious regularly.
Thank you Fr for teaching us how to be better people.
Thx Fr. Mike!
The Lord told me in prayer study time worship quiet fasting it is a spirit of Envy Pride arrogance selfishness like he said in 2nd Timothy chapter 3
Thank you man. Amen. I'm not catholic btw tahst why I said man. But whatever stops me from sinning is good. I'll pray for you
To envy is to know you are not as good as another. Incredibly blessed Christians obviously have incredible hearts. That is why they are so blessed. And on down the line....blessings according to our heart conditions. Somebody will always b blessed more than u. Become a better person and increase your blessings:)
Thanks fr mike. Good informative video
Envy is the right and reasonable response to the inequal distribution of blessings.
Gratitude is proportionate to what is given.
This reminds me of something I read on a GUESS tag once.. It reads "The special techniques applied to this garment result in a product that is unique from any other. No two garments will be exactly alike." :)
God bless you fr. A powerful servant of God.
"Bloom where you are planted with what you have"!
Exactly what I needed. Thank you, Fr.
Thank you father Mike I needed this god bless you Always 😊
Thank you Father Mike, very helpfull.
✊🏼. God Bless Fr. Mike.
The Holy Spirit speaks from your mouth Fr. Mike. Please Holy Father in heaven gives to Your Church more priests like Fr. Mike!!
Fr. Mike, You are such a great gift of God´s love. I love your teaching. You bring me hope and joy. Amen.
Very insightful, Father. Thank you!❤
For me, thinking that instead of gazing those who, by wordly standards, are above me, I should help those who really are below me and need help has helped me defeat envy.
Thank you, this was really helpful! Thank God for Jesus Christ and His love for us, and how He sees us as valued and treasured and part of His family.
its amazing how technology can be used for people to be enlightened on how envy/jealousy is and how it makes sense if you think about it after Padre Schmidt's explanation
Thank You so much for sharing this I am learning lots and Im a cradle catholic.
Thanks for fixing my mindset from fixed to a growth mindset thank you
I have envy of Fr. Mike’s haircut.

@@user-lv1wn5wq7n Are they green though? They looked kinda blueish-grey to me. Beautiful, definitely. But not green.
Not only is he a wonderful inspirational priest's but he's super good looking 🙏🏾
Thank you so much Father Mike. ✝️💟✝️
Pray for me my brothers and sisters in Christ.
Just the thing that I need.. i was all in tears because I’ve been struggling with this for awhile, and didn’t know what to do with it. It made me feel depressed because I hated the feeling of being envious, but yet I felt helpless..
So thank you so much Father Mike.. Your insights were spot on. I looove your videos. You are so cool! God bless you always! (Hello from Jakarta, Indonesia)
You explain exactly what I felt perfectly
I am not catholic and never will be but this topic was done well and helped me understand my envy ❤ thank you 🙏
So you don't ever want to reach heaven then?
LOVE you Father Mike
The feel inspired is to enjoy the blessings of others; to feel sad for others achievements is to let your bitterness guide your thoughts
In work settings, this happened so often- but we keep our eyes fixed and trust him to intercede to work divine intercession for all -
Thanx Father! You pack so much wisdom and practical teaching into 10 minutes!
indeed, “what they have don’t take away what I have”, so true.
thank you Father. I will remember this when I get jealous, especially in relationship
God bless u so much father
HOW DOES HE KNOW!!?? Praise the Lord!
Thank you so much. Jealous feelings melted away
Thank you for reminding us that we should be grateful in God's grace.
I’m really out here knowing the definition of envy, but “Envy is sadness at someone else’s blessings” still hit me in the chest yikes
Thank you, I really needed to understand this. God Bless
