Thanks for taking the time to share. The park opened in 48 years ago. As a kid growing up in Indiana Kings Island was our annual mini vacation on a budget. Loads of great memories & shows (including a dolphin show). I do not remember eating much inside the park but mid day we had a picnic lunch & break out in the car (favorite old station wagon) after several hours of our Twinkies warming on the hot dash board in the sun. It sure has changed a lot over the years and remained fresh, but there are still a handful of memory filled spots.
Per the question asked at 22:45, that unused building on the Coney Mall used to be Skeeball. I don't remember when it closed. I worked there in the '70s.
I think both Invertigo and Congo Falls are on their way out in the next few years. It could open up opportunities for a nice new coaster near the front entrance area.
Had my first visit this weekend. Definitely a nice, clean, well managed park. Staff was great, enjoyed the closing fireworks and the fountain show. Mystic timbers was great!
Saved this video to my favorites list so o can show my son. He's 5 & has been begging me to ride a roller coaster. We used to be able to say that we've rode every ride in the park @ least 3xs each but the last time we costed they were still building Mystic Timbers. Kings island has been the hubby's & I's fav weekend getaway for 10years. The last time we visited the park was 2016 bc we couldn't just get away for the weekend a couple times a month anymore bc we had kids. If quarantine has taught us anything it's to live a li'l & enjoy life so we have plans on taking our oldest son (he's 5) to kings island for the first time this summer (summer 2021).
Thanks for this walkthrough. I’m planning our family’s first trip to KI this summer. We’re coming over from the U.K., so something like this is really helpful. I think I’ll be watching this a few times.
Last time i went to kings island it still had the hawk and the vortex. Its kind of sad when i think about it. Kings island will always be a part of my childhood.
Really loved this walkthrough . You took us along at the perfect pace without rushing and provided lots of great views of the attractions with good info . Very very relaxing and thoroughly enjoyable , thanks for sharing man.
If you’re into beauty of parks, check out Busch Gardens Tampa. It has an African theme which is cool, but the parks landscape is absolutely amazingly beautiful. And add the fact the have a full blown safari with all kinds of exotic and interesting animals with shows that showcase them.
@Jester yeah I live in Ohio too, but I lived in Tampa for like 15 years so I got to enjoy that park quite a bit. They’ve really made it a great all around park with better coasters now. It was originally themed around the animals, then they started upping their coaster game in 1993 with Kumba and in 1996 with Montu. Now they are legit becoming one of the better coaster parks as well with additions of Shiekra, Cheetah Hunt, Cobra’s Curse, Falcons Fury (drop tower), Tigris, and now Iron Gwazi is next .
@Jester oh yeah I agree KI is a much better coaster park. Prob in the top 3 of parks in the nation. I do think with the addition of Iron Gwazi in Tampa, that could put Busch Gardens in the top 5 now. But yeah KI is awesome! Mystic Timbers, Orion, Diamondback, Banshee, and the Beast is a solid 5 coaster lineup. Only Cedar Point has a better lineup
I was hoping to see the ferris wheel, but I guess they got rid of it. We visited Ohio to see my dad's old war buddy. They had a little cabin on the other side of the creek/river there. It had an outhouse. We could see the ferris wheel out over the water there. This was back in the 60's. My dad's friend had a grocery store there in town w/the house behind it. They had two sons & a daughter. I got to sleep in the daughter's room because she was away at college. We took lots of pictures. I looked at pictures on google earth & it doesn't really look the same as it used to. Thank you for the video!
22:44 YES that building is there for the haunt, its called Kill-mart, so you walk through a haunted and gory Walmart/Kmart and possess workers to jump out at you, very cool, Fun fact I'm pretty sure they store a lot of their stuffed animal prizes in there so for haunt the hand them everywhere and put washable blood on them.
