I totally agree with Justin’s approach. Keeping the integrity of the line is so important to the collecting culture. Now, Don Post, Distortions, BSS, & Topstone, Illusive Concepts, Death Studios…Trick or Treat Studios is delivering beloved mask makers of the past in modern times. Great conversation Rudy.

    Fantabulous news!
For a newbie like me in the hobby, this is fantastic. It’ll be a way for us to collect those iconic masks without having to shell out hundreds like the OGs command.
And frankly, they are just masks, people! Things that were bought with paper route money, that got thrown around and put away wet without a thought of their appreciating in value. Things that put smiles on your parents faces, or screams from your little sister.
The collectors have kinda elevated their importance to a point that no one really uses them as intended. They’ve become the trailer queens of the show car circuit, instead of being the daily driver rat rods.
Now they’ll be accessible to all people, hopefully at a decent price point.
    Bravo TOTS.

The collectors are the only reason some of the masks still exist. Latex deteriorates. If vintage masks continued to be used and worn they wouldn't last. I've got masks from the 70's that are so brittle they'd tear apart if someone put it on once. They only survive because they've been cared for, and in some cases restored.

Exactly, actual 60s and 1970s classic monster masks are far from just “wearable masks”, look at any monster toy or monster model or collectible from the 60s and 70s, the market is huge and some of the toys surpass masks in value of what people will pay for them. You could group these in with the monster toy group if you wanted to, but vintage rubber Halloween masks are definitely a special collectible. They go hand-in-hand with vintage Halloween, they kicked trick or treating into high gear from the 1960s through the 1990s even.

Super excited about this years TOTS catalog. Justin has explained the tweaks and retoolings on a lot of the DP masks they are releasing this year, and it all makes sense. He has an incredibly keen eye and has found areas that can be improved or updated without loosing the integrity of the design and original sculpture. I'm also excited for this new Shock sculpt (and of course it has a straightened out right ear, LOL). Also, FINALLY the return of the long lost Topstone Skull and a wearable Witch! Killer Don Post line up: Frankenstein 2001, Nuclear Death & Erik!? I would have been happy if just one of those was in the catalog. 4 versions of the Skull, including the black version that will forever be known as the "Munis Skull"! Really amazing line up. BTW, that Mutant is the IC version. It's really big, nearly as big as a Post Re-issue, but with a more egg shaped head. Still a great mask. I think it's great that the IC masks are finally getting some shine. They had some amazing sculpts that deserve to be brought back.

Yeah, they are no doubt coming out of the gate, strong, and the overwhelming responses are proof of that. Like I said, out of all of the people I could think out there that deserve to be in the drivers seat of bringing DPS back, Justin is the one. Such a great grouping to start off with no doubt.!

It’s illusive Concepts for me. The only thing that scares me about trick or treat studios is the quality. I have a few masks from them only 2-3 years old and all are experiencing latex rot. I’m hoping that issue is addressed, The fact they produce affordable masks for the masses is a great concept for me. Looking forward to snagging some of these!

It's Topstone, but I'm losing my mind over the new Shock Monster mask (and eventual action figure). Can I trade in my previous Mabry version for it?

Im pretty damn excited about this. I've been a fan of Trick or Treat Studios since they started, and they've continued to up their game. I really hope they remake the Mr. Hyde, thats one of my favorite classic Don Post mask.

To say I'm excited about this would be an understatement. I agree 100% about making small changes to the masks. I think making exact duplicates would be a kick in the nuts to the collector who have invested thousands of dollars in the originals. Great video

Hey Rudy, not owning many vinyl masks, what are the advantages/disadvantages over latex? I know longevity is far superior, but what else pros/cons? Cheaper to manufacture? Holds greater detail? Maybe you can talk to it on your channel....

If you are his good friend as you say, then tell Justin to sculpt all his masks large enough with viewable eyeholes and airflow to be worn by the average person. He sculpts everything small like it's made for a 12 year old, and there is limited to no vision. Half the universal masks his company made are unwearable , plus ToTs quality control is pathetically bad. Mask arrive looking nothing like the product advertised or look like a kid hit them with a can of spray paint. Order 3 copies of something over 4 years and look at how bad the QC is. Makes me fear for the Don Post name, especially if they are not recasting off the original molds and resculpting them. Don post masks beyond the display calendar ones were large, and you could adjust them with foam if they were too big, but you could breath and clearly see in 90% of their products.
