- In this episode we are joined by the legendary Don Post! Don Post Studios paved the way for life-size movie replicas as they worked with countless licenses. Most notably DPS is known for creating some of the first latex masks using ground breaking innovation.
Most of us grew up with DPS Star Wars and monster masks so it is great to hear the back story to some of their most iconic masks. We thank Don for his time and amazing contribution to the hobby and popular culture!
*Big thanks to Pete "Big Cat" for helping us connect with Don and for his reference pictures and knowledge.
Priceless episode
So COOL👏👏👏👏
Just got my Darth Vader helmet back from my nephew we live in the UK took the lid off to clean it and found out it was a Don Post helmet. The tusks are just little silver stick on dots and the helmet itself is quite small compared to the Darth Vader helmets these days. It’s got pride of place in my collection now!!!
Such a beautiful video 🙏🏾
I have a Don Post Deluxe Vader which I treasure over most of my helmets. Thank you Don Post, you’re a true legend.
How exciting is tonight’s episode?! YES!!
Watching this with some coffee in the movie room.
Great episode! Thanks. I have a life size R2D2 that I’d love to get some provenance on. It is believed to be one of two prototypes that Don Post made for the retail versions. I believe for Icons. Hopefully you’ll be able to help.
Fantastic interview!!!!
I have a Don Post mask from 1992, its my profile pic. Probably my favorite Don Post mask called slash.
Great interview with a legend of the industry! So much amazing work I remember seeing growing up.
Tommy Lee Wallace was going to use the Emmet Kelly mask, not Felix Adler
Don is a true legend in the industry! Love him!
Really cool interview. Don Post Studios is legendary as is the name.
To Don, Rubies suck.
The suits would have been used in 'The Rift'
My DPS Nosferatu mask terrorized my hood and spook alleys throughout 80s. So pissed I lent it to an asshole who lost it. Nothing as good before or since. From a short distance it looked a like a real human, a fucking scary human but still. Pissed i lost it. The wrinkles in the forehead and other details made it scary af. I’d give anything to find another
