IF I do end up finding it, it seems to conveniently happen RIGHT as the light turns green. Then I frown knowing I never once got the satisfaction of letting my left hand take a break AND I’ve just now added another unnecessary step to taking off from the light had I just left it in gear. Bike life be a struggle at times 😔

Even after years of riding it still happens to me some times. Yet to be fair, a big part of it is that my bike has the blinker indicator right next to the neutral and they're both green.

I've thought about buying a bigger one, but in my experience quarter litre bikes hit the sweet spot between performance and fuel economy (and maintenance costs), enough to be practical in urban environments yet with sufficient engine to make a trip somewhere at a relatively safe speed. In a dense city like Buenos Aires, you just can't enjoy bigger bikes outside a few places on the weekends.

    You missed:
The stretcher- Usually seen on sport bikes adjusting their legs arms necks and backs.
The rever- The one who revs just for the fun sound and/or attention.
Full body tanker, leaning all the way forward till head is touching the tank as though he's been at the light for an eternity.
The hooligan- a group rider/friend that either tries to take your key, push your ignition switch or slightly bumps your back tire with his front tire.
Next video should be things bikers do when on long stretches of road to keep ourselves entertained like testing the traction by swerving or taking the left hand off the bars.

I don't know if it applies to all bikes, but I found out that it's easier to switch to neutral if your bike is rolling. So I usually do it on the last few feet before stopping. But it obviously requires knowing your bike and having enough practice to be able to pick gears with your eyes closed, just in case you need to make a shift and keep going.
Alternatively, you can try moving your bike a little forward or backwards, just so the wheel turns a bit and the gear drops more nicely.

I've never understood this tbh. Sometimes I pop it into neutral but I'm always monitoring my surroundings and especially my mirrors if I don't have a car or 2 behind me as a buffer. Nah, only a newbie would have so little confidence in their skills to be able to drop a gear and pull out in a heartbeat that they need to stay nervously grasping their clutch.

Thrust race bearings love it when you sit in gear with the clutch pulled in forever. My current bike came with a quadlock phone mount. The first thing I did was throw it in the bin. At the lights you watch the light sequence to know when you can go, whilst scanning the cars around you for unmarked police cars. Then you get to the speed limit as fast as possible just because.

My favorite is "the racer" because even with more powerful bikes, a small bike driven hard is just so much fun.
2nd is drumming on the tank, but you really need a metal tank for that to be satisfying (yea! kawi, aww... dualsport)

I only do this at lights that I know are going to be long and where I know precisely when mine will go green, but sometimes instead of bothering with neutral I will just turn the bike off but put the key to the right spot so I just have to clutch in and press the ignition when the light turns green.
I guess it also saves a modicum of fuel too.

if u want to find neutral easier, just pop it into neutral as your just at the end of rolling to a stop. as the gearbox is still rotating and it is easier to locate the sweet spot as your not fighting static friction sitting stationary in a gear. while moving, the oil is still moving around the gears allowing for smoother transitions. also if you are having problems all the time. it could mean that the clutch fibres are warn or the steal rings could be glazed from over riding the clutch and it may be slipping ever so slightly and you'll need a new clutch. but first adjust your clutch cable as it may not be engaging enough to allow easier shifts and finding neutral. i hope this helps

Lol, been the singer on occasion (especially if NIN, Tool, Rob Zombie or any other of my late 90's/early '00's anthems start playing on Spotify), half-assed cool-guy on others when I know the light is going to need a minute, and a short-notice ready to race guy pretty often.

I'm a mix of the "Cool Guy" and "ready to race guy" cool guy because i stand still and calmly look around, and ready to race guy because i ride a 400 and i constantly rev the engine because otherwise it gets a flooded(way too rich idle). Also i don't just pretend to have launch controll because i have turbocharged bike so spinning turbo up kinda acts like lauch controll (more or less instant boost and no turbo lag).

I spent my time leaning over the side inspecting front tire tread, checking throttle cables, front brake cable and speedo cable to make sure they're not kinked or worn, or turning to look behind me to check panniers or cargo strapped behind me. Basic maintenance checks. You can probably already guess what type of bike I ride from this behavior: a heavy, old 2003 BMW R1150GS Adventure.
