Hey everyone! Gotta issue another wow, this time in appreciation of your feedback I the re-tooled style. Some of your comments are very helpful in their specificity. Can’t thank you enough for your support and feedback. Also, I know I didn’t cover everything everyone would want to see on the G3, so if you have an ask, please reply to this comment and I’ll do what I can to include it in one of the vs. videos. You all rock!
Hey Caleb, spectacular video. I wish to see if there is any Raise in the black level of the TV, because the camera is making it seem so. I will be really glad if you could touch on that.
Love your videos. Please do a vs video. My personally LG vs Sony newest OLED. I am preparing to upgrade my high end 2016 Sony LED 75in 4K I think 950 series. Looking for best model for PS5 4k120. Do you also do home theater receiver reviews?
The new concept of versus-vids sounds like a great idea. It's way easier to compare directly in one video instead of going from one to another, besides all TV's seems amazing when it's just that one by itself. Love the content and keep up the good work.
I’m all for this new format and I also agree versus videos would be more valuable because most of my tech research when buying new products involves comparison videos and side by side spec charts.
I got my 77G3 mounted and setup and as an owner of a CX48 for a computer monitor and a 65EF9500 that the 77G3 replaced - this display is MIND BOGGLINGLY good quality. Must be seen to believed. The extra brightness is a game changer, and the color was outstanding in filmmaker mode with no other tweaks.
I get that the G series is meant to be wall-mounted, but back in the days of say the G9, it was essentially the same as the C9, except a body designed for wall-mounting. With the technology gap between C-series and G-series expanding, I feel like they should give you the option to order the G3 with a stand mount from the factory, without paying more.
And without that stupid lean. Some may think it is dumb thing to stress about but I will never not be annoyed by the TV leaning back instead of facing the viewer.
@@curtisbmedoesn’t look like it’s that bad of a lean from what I can see. I’m going to with it because now it’s included in the package deal an I don’t prefer wall mounting my tv
I know this TV is old news now but o upgraded from a 12 year old plasma to the G3 today, 4/25/24 and I'm completely speechless. I cannot believe what I'm looking at. My wife is asleep so I'm watching Star Wars and Xmen trainers with the sound off and i cannot believe this is my TV. It's outrageously incredible. I was supposed to be asleep 3 hours ago and that's not going to happen. Exponentially blew away my expectations and I've not begun adjustments. Wow!!! This is the one. Incredible.
Awesome review, Caleb, as always! 2023 is yet another great year to be an AV enthusiast. LG knocked it out of the park with the G3/MLA tech. Yet again, there's something for everyone this year: W-OLED (MLA); QD-OLED (gen 2); and miniLED (Hisense and TCL again). It's been a long time since we have gotten two great years in a row like this. PS, whatever gear you guys use to shoot your videos with is top notch. Thank you, as always, for the top tier content!
I saved for a few years and bought a 77 C2 for gaming because of this channel and Caleb. It is my dream television. I came from a plasma if you can believe it. Thank you Caleb for all the time and info. You are THE channel for TV and electronics reviews. Appreciate you!

The G-series is absolutely amazing. I would even say if you have the G1, G2 or G3 you will still have a better TV than most people when the TV is 5+ years
Not so sure about that,my LG G1 blew a capacitor just out of nowhere this past Sunday and I’ve only owned it for 3 an half years and I only paid for the 3 year warranty. I seen another gentleman on RUclips had the same issue with his LG G2.
Definitely more interested in versus over unboxing. LG’s G series is maybe one of the rare cases where an unboxing is warranted because they don’t come with a base/stand, and knowing that beforehand is valuable to new buyers. But versus videos are generally more useful when deciding between a few comparably priced TVs.
This review is very correct. I have one and it's incredible. It is so sharp it took my family about 4 days to get use to the clarity. Sounds strange but it's true. LG in my book is the one to beat.
Feedback - The LG Series Categories are "assumed" as the nerds know that the G series is the "top of the line". I think that educating those "prosumer" nerds like me for 2 seconds to go through B, C, and G would be helpful. 19:56 is insinuated; but having this at the top of the review with an overlay (graphic) etc. could be helpful to raise impact at the end/final thoughts.
I like this new format. Feels more personal when combining the unboxing. Also, I probably never would have seen the unboxing unless it was combined with the review.
I work at the Brick Canada as a salesman… and since I’ve been a tv enthusiast for a few years now and I’ve been counting on LG to release such a monster of a tv for the G series. Previously already had an LG C2 when I upgraded from a Nanocell… could not be more happy with my purchase… (the C2 is already astounding)
Agree about the picture quality. Overall 'quality' is another issue with me. Got the 55" and 28 days after purchase a black line showed up across the screen. Eventually more lines started to show up. This after 28 days of [normal] use. Maybe a one-off issue, but not very comforting. Yes, a replacement is on its way... but I regret moving away from Sony. Fingers crossed!
I think this format makes more sense so we can get the better understanding of the start to finish experience and the head to head without sacrificing one or the other
love this type of video. I wouldn't watch a dedicated video of the unboxing but I like the "informal" introduction which also gives a glimpse into the experience that a potential buyer would have.
Please keep on doing vids like this as versus vids are so much better for us mere mortals who need comparisons between two TVs that are in our wishlist 😁 Big fan of your vids, Caleb! One of my favorite TV reviewers alongside Rtings and HDTV Test
Hey, I love the new way you're doing the review. I kind of like the unboxing and then going into the review. It's not long and it's not short. It's just awesome! I would love to see more TV reviews like this.
Yes please, definitely unbox and review in the same vdieo. I've had many times in the past click on a video thinking it was a review only to find it was an unboxing so would be not only more clear to have all the info in one video but also has less videos on each product but more to the point in every video like reviews and vs episodes etc. Keep up the good work
Exactly what I was thinking. I want to upgrade from 77" but I want to know how far off is the picture from the MLA panels. Seems crazy it's getting the same model number and yet not getting the tech associated with all the accolades of this new model.
Instead of wall mounting the 83", I'm putting the 77" G3 onto a "entertainment console" along with part of the surround speakers, centre below, surround amp and internet devices. By doing so, I put the 77" closer to where we sit, so it makes it equivalent to an 87", plus it's brighter than the G3 83". For those wanting bright 83", it's a G4 because that has the MLA brightness and efficiency technology.
After watching many videos of different TV's and technologies, this TV is my top choice and the one I hope to buy in a month or so. Keep the great content coming.
Hi Caleb from Down Under. Have enjoyed your videos and find them really easy to watch and understand. Certainly like the idea of more comparison videos too especially with some of the subtle changes in technology between brands. The unboxing in a review video also works without distracting from the review itself. I look forward to seeing more on the new LG G3 model and how it compares to Sony and Samsung in particular.
I saw Brian's review pitting the G3 against S95C and they were both very good but I liked the G3 better because the highlights were better and brighter. I like the review style now, its pretty much how any of us would end up dragging their TV into the room and setting it up and then checking it out once you get it somewhere stable 👍
Colors are still better on QD-OLED it seems. RGB nits are way higher. MLA was a big step in the right direction tho. Sadly LG leaves it out of alot of 2023 models. Only G3 gets it, in 55 to 77 inch (just like QD-OLED sizes). It's a 100% direct answer to QD-OLED. Because G3 83 inch and bigger don't have MLA.
Absolutely great review, Caleb!!! I was waiting for this one and I love the new approach for doing the reviews!!! Definitely can’t wait to get my 55inch G3 for my bedroom!!
@Harrison Kay Wow, going down in size. I had a Sony x900f 85 inch and I miss that bigger screen despite the serious quality jump with my LG C9 77 inch. I also miss Sony better motion handling ,but not its buggy operating system with my home theater and Harmony remote. Never an issue with the LG C9 since day.
@@camarykaren ye unfortunately. I had my a90j repaired and then replaced. Keeps turning off and constantly freezing. I love Sony tv’s. But iv owned 4 flagships in my time and every single one has failed. I used a c9 in my office and never ever have had an issue. Decided to switch my main tv to LG. Really wish it was atleast 83 but it is what it is.
@Harrison Kay Well, nice to know that Sony tvs are still turning off when they feel like it. My 940d does that and somedays it won't even come on till I unplug it, wait like 10 min. Not even going into hiw that tv works off and on with my Logitech Harmony remote . I also have a c9 77 inch, my main tv, and not one problem since day 1. Except it's motion isn't the greatest which is my biggest issue, hence the love affair with Sony tv.
I like this approach better. When I see you’ve released content I sometimes just click on it without realizing it’s just the unboxing, which I still like watching but it leaves me wanting more. Definitely more versus videos will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for the content Caleb and the rest of the Digital Trends family🤘🏻
I don’t comment much on your videos but wanted you to know I enjoyed this one. Looking forward to more of your content in 2024 including the Versus videos.
I’d still like to see unboxing, initial impressions and review videos but comparison videos are absolutely useful and appreciated. Like the C3 vs S90c and the G3 vs S95C.
Love the direction this channel has taken. Any chance you could test 4:3 input lag? This was a new issue that came up in the C2/G2 generation where it adds a ton of lag to any 4:3 resolution
I'd like to know also, as I have the c1, and love it for my retro set up. My mate is about to do up his game room with his mister fpga and retrotink 5x set up so really important to know if they nerfed it again!
The concept of incorporating the unboxing and review is very efficient and informative. I like the idea of the comparison videos. I have personally watched a number of your reviews and recently (last month) purchased the Sony a90j 55 " Oled. This is one excellent TV so far. The picture is absolutely striking and I can view nicely in a bright environment. I also watched your review on the Sony A95k but had concerns about the purchase as this is a first generation QD-OLED panel. In the end I am very happy with my purchase and your reviews and insight helped guide me towards my final purchase decision. Thanks Caleb!
These TVs are unfortunately out of my budget and I'm looking for a 10 year TV that I just don't think I'll get from an OLED, but I love watching the reviews anyway. I have an X90J that I picked up about a year and a half ago and it's stellar most of the time, but not without problems, so I'm dumping it off on my roommate and upgrading this year to....something. An X90L maybe, or a mini LED. I'm sure these reviews will point me some kind of way.
I completely agree. My current TV is 12 years old (Sony) and still works like brand new. No OLED tech has that lifespan. Personally, I am looking for a miniLED TV this year (or the next). I am eyeing the X95L (which comes in 65" in my region). Also, TCL and Hisense prices for miniLED are very attractive but, again, I worry about the shelf life of Chinese made quality TVs. I am not confident those brands can last a decade or longer, so I buy ease of mind by choosing a more known name.
@@shmookins The lack of size variations on the 95L in America is a really big bummer, I keep hoping they'll change their minds, as there has been backlash. But it probably means a cheaper than usual 93L and I heard the X95K was extremely good. I'm mostly just waiting to see how good this year's "Clear Image" tech is. The 93L is the only TV that doesn't have it and if it's no big deal, I'll probably get the 93L
@@Joshua-xh6bm I find it really strange that they didn't release more sized in the US (and Canada?) for their top miniLED model. If it is a matter of parts shortages, I would assume the US is their biggest market and so they would prioritize it. Europe, Asia, and other markets are getting the different sizes. Or is it because the US market is richer so more can be nudged to buying the huge 83"? If they don't release more sizes in the US later on, I would simply skip this rotation and wait for next year's models. I have a feeling that in 2024 Sony will release a new CPU (with a new name) and include 4 HDMI 2.1 ports (and surely more dimming zones).
Love the new style and agree on combining the unboxing into the main review. We only really need to know if there are any issues setting it up physically like a weird stand, wobby, difficult to screw, etc. Much rather hear the performance review and comparisons to other competitors.
Another great review - thanks. One observation - you mention the sound quality was disappointing. However you had the TV on a stand - isn't that in some part due to the fact it's intended position is on the wall & maybe the sound profile 'expects' that as a sort of sounding board effect?
I like the new approach you are pursuing. Makes sense. Your opinion carries a lot of weight, so vs-based videos are super valuable. Cheers for all your work. You are my go-to for TVs.
With just how good Hisense TVs are looking to get this year, I'd be curious to know how the u8K stacks up against the c3, g3, s90/95c. If it handles blooming really well, i was already impressed by last years U7G my sister got, it may just tempt me to get it over the G3 for what i assume will be close to half the price.
All they need is improved processing and they are by far the best tvs to buy when being budget conscious. And so far they seem to be improved in that way.
Great minds think alike Caleb! I just posted a similar unboxing + review video at the same time and I swear I almost had a similar title lol anyway I really like the G3 only short comings to the S95C so far is game mode but other than that I actually like the G3 a bit better from what I have seen of them side by side btw I like this new format!
I just got an 85" G2 for 4799 yesterday, plus the stand with tax for 5300. While this looks a bit better. As a gamer and someone that only streams from a jailbroken firestick I'll be happy. Especially considering a G3 and stand with tax would have been about 7100. So with what I saved im happy. However this looks gorgeous too.
Hey Caleb, great video (love the new approach to these showing unboxing to review!). I'm wondering if this LG model addresses any of the 4k Blu-Ray issues that LG's have with Xbox Series X (specifically, the known issue where while watching 4k Blu-rays the screen will randomly go black but still play sound and Xbox menus are still accessible; this seems to be a handshake issue between Xbox and LG TVs). It's been one of the biggest issues I have with my 65" C1. Any info is appreciated!
Word of warning, DO NOT by the lg stand. I got a height adjustable Insignia stand from Best Buy that can hold up to a 77in and 100lbs. It works amazingly for my 65in G3 and looks pretty cool to. I have it sitting pretty low and it has that sleek sony look, also almost no wobble, especially front to back and more importantly, no stupid tilt.
Do you happen to know the exact name of the Insignia stand? Im looking to buy a G3 and need a stand ( Yes the LG stand sold separately with tilt does scare me ) and do all the screws n stuff line up on it?
@fnggaming89 "Insignia™ - Universal TV Feet Replacement Kit for TVs 49"-77" or 100 lbs - Black" Everything lines up perfectly and I use the small separators that it comes with, to keep the stand from scratching the tv.
I really appreciate the toned-down look of the video-especially at the beginning. A lot of tech review videos seem like they’re over-produced, trying to add as much eye-grabbing visuals as they can fit in. This was much more unfiltered approach-like you we’re actually in my living room.
Am in Uganda always watching ur reviews but this gives us a more in depth veiw of the actual TV package othere than the already unboxed setup u have done for the last few years. Thx
Best TV reviewer that I fully trust, incorporating the unboxing with the review is great and the rambling during the whole process was great to see too.
LOL this guy’s a shill for tv manufacturers. Oled technology is horrible! It was supposed to take over for plasma because oled panels are so much cheaper to produce and ship. This guy is a clown.
Solid review. Love the unboxing and reviews in one. It makes it easier and not have to search through 100 videos to find a review and unboxig of the same product.
9:58 2. white balance. It was said at the beginning of the video this TV was repackaged and was likely from an LG demonstration. It was almost certainly highly tuned by somebody that knew what they were doing for LG's demonstrations. That is not the case if somebody was to buy one off the shelf.
Seeing their naming scheme really makes me miss my old LG G2 I used to have. Buttons on the back and thin (for the time) bezels made it a very nice phone for sure.

As always a great review by Caleb . Thanks a ton and keep doing what you're doing. Just wish the LG 83 inch had the mla panel.
Agreed. That’s a shit move. I’m going from a90j 83 to 77 MLA. I think oled still superior to QD.
I like this format, prepares you for what are going to get, feels more like a conversation rather than a showcase. Great format keep it please.
Feels like yesterday I was thinking about getting an LGC9 oled... Here I am, still haven't bought a new tv. Lol! Still rockin 1080p. 🤣
When you switch to OLED it makes it harder to watch movies without getting distracted by how beautiful the tv looks
It’s probably time come Black Friday.
@@oppa1319 Same precidier as last year James...
I got the LG 65 G3 on your recommendation. Adding it to the fleet of the LG C9 and Sony A90J. I have 3 great TVs now!
I’d still like to see unboxing, initial impressions and review videos but comparison videos are absolutely useful and appreciated. Like the C3 vs S90c and the G3 vs S95C.
So absolute
I like the new format. You always give info we can use when shopping for a new tv. Keep up the great work that we cannot do.
I can’t wait to get a 55” LG G3! Gonna wait until Black Friday though… can’t justify spending $2500 on a TV 📺 🤔
I like your current format. I find it appropriate and provides what we really need.
@@robibennobi3775 Yep. This has been mostly glossed over by mainstream reviewers. Maybe RTings or somebody will check into it
That doesn't make sense. Why would screen ratio have added lag?
@@overnightdelivery firmware bug I believe
@Bob Jones watch the my life in gaming vid on the c2 or Google it, u will see its deal breaker for retro gaming.
I'm probably going with 8K Samsung qn900c. 8k and 4k upscaling. Mini led. Good for gaming, HDR content and no burnin risk
I love this format, I feel like a friend who got invited over to check out your new tv!
Love the new style and agree on combining the unboxing into the main review. We only really need to know if there are any issues setting it up physically like a weird stand, wobby, difficult to screw, etc. Much rather hear the performance review and comparisons to other competitors.
Sounds nice! Watching this on my 77” G1! Hope that this will last for at least 8 more years! Amazing tv!🔥
You know it’s Tv season when you see Caleb unboxing a brand new tv🤘🤘Grab your popcorn guys 🍿😎
This new way of combing the two different kinds of videos, is the best.
Caleb seems like such a cool guy that if he were to visit your house and you had a crappy old tv he’d still have something nice to say about it.
I’m liking this new format that includes the unboxing and review in one video Caleb.
Hey Caleb, I’m a longtime watcher and I love the idea of the “all-in-one” approach to videos to help maximize the content. Keep it up 🔥
Love this relaxed interactive style. Winner for me 👍🏻👍🏻
With just how good Hisense TVs are looking to get this year, I'd be curious to know how the u8K stacks up against the c3, g3, s90/95c. If it handles blooming really well, i was already impressed by last years U7G my sister got, it may just tempt me to get it over the G3 for what i assume will be close to half the price.
All they need is improved processing and they are by far the best tvs to buy when being budget conscious. And so far they seem to be improved in that way.
I love this style of this video
It's more real! Keep it up!
I hope to get an MLA OLED for the living room, especially since Burn In is not an issue anymore and they finally have an Anti Reflection Coating.
Burn in risk is the same as 3-4 years ago on OLED. It's not a big problem but can still happen.
@@Dr.WhetFarts I’d say it’s lower risk now. Definitely not zero, but lower.
I got the S95b couple months ago in a sale but will definitely buy the G3 83” this year.
@jenifersue585 just seen this now,Awesome thank you !
Me watching this video when I only have $3
Man you talk allot without saying anything.. wow wow wow isn't much of a review
This format is much more enjoyable and leaves me hanging for comparison videos coming up. Great work.
I like a somewhat of a more relaxed beginning of the video, informal if you will, and a good start with quick unbox and setup. Keep it up.
YES. YES. YES! I like this format. I rarely watch the unboxing and setup content. I much, MUCH prefer the versus episodes. 😊
I really appreciate the toned-down look of the video-especially at the beginning. A lot of tech review videos seem like they’re over-produced, trying to add as much eye-grabbing visuals as they can fit in. This was much more unfiltered approach-like you we’re actually in my living room.
Wow someone finally testing TVs with golf. You love to see it. They were broadcasting the amen corner in 4k and it looked amazing.
Am in Uganda always watching ur reviews but this gives us a more in depth veiw of the actual TV package othere than the already unboxed setup u have done for the last few years. Thx
I feel myself this is a better setup.... This will give your watchers a more informed purchase point. All in one sitting.
I prefer this approach! Gives more videos for comparison as well! Thank you!
Loved the new format! A little more true to real life experience. Rock that thing Caleb!
It's much better this way where you add the unboxing in to the review. Keep up the great videos
There's just something about your videos man! Quality!
Providing this vs that will educate your viewers and help us learn what will work for and why.
The best customer is an educated one.
100% agreed to do future videos this way!! Excellent work and great review!
I'm on board Caleb, versus videos are definitely more helpful when it comes to making a buying decision. Keep on keeping on sir thank you
Seeing their naming scheme really makes me miss my old LG G2 I used to have. Buttons on the back and thin (for the time) bezels made it a very nice phone for sure.
