My grandpa has 2 rental homes. It's his income and when one of his renters stopped paying rent, he was forced to evict them bc he couldn't afford it. It was really hard for him to do. I don't think the landlords are the bad guys. I think everyone is just trying to get by.

That will not happen until those same hard-working Americans take back their government. Right now, there are two parties in the pockets of big business. Neither one of them gives a damn about regular people. On one side, you have a party led by a grossly incompetent fool who was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and who embarrasses the nation every time he opens that mouth. Behind him, he has a cohort of people whose claim to fame is obstructing the things another president was trying to accomplish. Their main focus is to keep taxes low for rich people while roping in the poor people by making them think they care about traditional morality. On the other side, you have a party who has elected as its front runner a man who is in his extreme dotage and has very obvious signs of being in the grips of dementia. Behind him, they propose to line up a cohort of corporate shills, moral misfits, rich eccentrics and high profile rich celebrity types that have very little in common with the average person. These people get very excited about things the average American does not really care that much about or, propose to steer the country in a direction that the average American is not really comfortable with but is too scared to say. They rope in constituents by making them think they actually care about racial equality and inclusion when in fact, they just wanna keep their corporate masters happy. A party that puts forth the interests of working people and make sure tha people are taken care of in their old age just does not exist. Not in the way it once did back in the 1950s and 1960s. My guess is that we’re headed for a serious recession if not depression where a bunch of people are going to feel the pinch and it’s going to wake up the vast majority of the American public that does not always show up to vote. Then, and only then will politicians feel like they are truly accountable to their constituents for what they do or failed to do.

Hey! I had a serious medical issue and couldn’t walk let alone work. I ended up not being able to pay rent. Call your landlord first to see if you can work out a deal. If not, then I got help from my state emergency housing hotline. They might tell you to go to a shelter. They might also be able to find you an affordable housing spot. If you are overwhelmed you can request a social worker to help you navigate your options. Good luck. Remember it takes time to evict someone. You do not have to vacate. There’s always hope for better tomorrows.

You have to qualify for a mortgage or do you not own? You have to have stable reliable income and a pretty good number for credit and anyone in there 70s wont get a loan for a house like that due to life expectancy. When your paying rent to live getting ahead to move up is incredibly hard. so many people have expressed concern and a willingness to help the lady featured in the story. i think that's a beautiful sentiment. what if all of us who were moved by this story are willing to help, not this woman, but someone closer to us, someone local. there are going to be so many people in dire straits, who will need help. if those of us who are at least doing okay would reach out to someone in need in our community, we could do so much. whether it's a few groceries or a meal or gasoline. for bigger needs, maybe we can form groups of friends who can chip in for things like utility bills, rent, mortgage payments, etc. it's obvious there is a heart to help. i read it about 50 times in these comments alone. i think we don't know exactly who needs help or how to get that help to them. i encourage you, and i will do the same, to reach out to local places of worship (people in need often contact them), helping agencies, friends and family who may know someone in need. if you're still unsure, pray (if you pray) to be guided to someone you can help. of course, use wisdom and don't put yourself in danger. but until the gov't figures things out, looks like it will fall to us to help one another. But as the WWII poster said "We can do it!!" (just my thoughts)
