Dear Melinda, it is the first time I'm in this plataform of yours, I didn't know you had open, but I'm glad I found it, I'm loving it. Thank you for the human being loving selfless lady that you are,I am looking forward to see more. I'm a 75 yrs. old puertorrican lady who admire you for the reasons I've just thank you. God Bless you and your family. Thanks again for been a blessing to those in need.💙🙏🐬
Melinda, you are very good at interviewing, very natural and it flows. Love Michelle Obama, always have. She always seems like she could be everyone's best friend.
@@smilesandyokaYou CAN be the person you aspire to be. Parents don't have a play book and don't always make the right decisions. We also have to remember that Parents are people too. They make mistakes and don't always make the right decisions. Don't always say what we want to hear. We have to take what we can from it. Do better and be better!
As people, they are put on a set of standards that they are expected to live accordingly. To be smart, independent, kind. THAT's parenting. If you raise your children to just breath air and survive, that's cattle-ing, not parenting.
Some people, usually from low standard families, like to talk real sh*t about parents who intentionally try to their children's ego in check. But those people are the same ego-centric people who, when rubber meets the road of reality, cannot get a job without Daddy's interventions.
@@LittleMew133 In too many cases nowadays parents are both working and kids have daycare or after school programs. They may not all be able to meet those standards. Parents too need support and encouragement because if they are downtrodden and have low-self-esteem and are not able to make ends meet they can't impress values of 'being smart, independent and kind.' Some turn to drug addiction and alcoholism or 'check out' in other ways. They can't 'give' positive parenting but others who are teachers, neighbors, and other mentors can also provide positive mentoring for both children and adults and when there is a 'village' where we help one another and help children and elders who aren't just 'biologically' our parents or kids this helps our society to grow stronger.
@@LittleMew133 It's that balance of neither telling your child they are 'God's gift to humankind and can do no wrong' nor telling them constantly how they have 'messed up' and constantly correcting them or 'improving them.' I like what Michelle and Melinda spoke about in letting their kids make their own mistakes and helping them to cope with this and learn from this rather than either coddling or putting down their children.
Ms. Melinda, I enjoy getting to know you through the "Moments That Make Us" series. I feel we are next door neighbors and our families are friends...well done! I am turning 60 this year and would like to be interviewed by you on your program. Highlighting everyday women and the challenges faced on their journey to achieving purpose.
I am so glad I found you on here Ms. Gates, I will be a follower of you for a long time to come. Thank you for giving us this gift of you interviewing these memorable women who have been a force in the Women's movement of our generation. We need to be uplifting of others because there are so many that just want to knock us down and keep us there.
I felt like I was in the room with these two ladies. Two Women, rich in wisdom and experience. FF Lady, is spot on. Love her parenting outake. Thanks, for being so personable and sharing your wisdom .
What a wonderful exchange of views and experiences. I love Michelle and did not know that Melinda French Gates was so intelligent and interesting person. Thanks for doing these interviews.
Why call them “Mrs”? That points to something untrue about Melinda and unnecessary about Michelle. These women are colossally talented entirely in and of themselves.
This is a great interveiw,, with different questions, WOW! I love learning new things about the both of you at 60...I'm 66 and 60 seems so long ago...Blessings & Enjoy❤
As a mom of two young boys, and trying to raise them to become good people of this universe, there are so many take aways. Parenting is to find a fine line between your ego and good intention, which I find it difficult! It is refreshing to hear them talk how difficult it was to raise kids intentionally. I turned 51 y.o. this month. You convinced me to try to make a new good, a new real good friend during my 50’s, too. I listened this episode twice already, will come back here once in a while when I need wisdom from the great mentors. Thank you Melinda for creating this program.
I just found this series (through Colbert's show). It's quite enjoyable. The connection between these women is palpable. I like what Melinda is trying to do with her wealth: helping women become leaders.
