    I really like the parenting philosophy that you raise people, not babies.

    • @LittleMew133
      @LittleMew133 2 месяца назад +14

      As people, they are put on a set of standards that they are expected to live accordingly. To be smart, independent, kind. THAT's parenting. If you raise your children to just breath air and survive, that's cattle-ing, not parenting.

    • @LittleMew133
      @LittleMew133 2 месяца назад +3

      Some people, usually from low standard families, like to talk real sh*t about parents who intentionally try to their children's ego in check. But those people are the same ego-centric people who, when rubber meets the road of reality, cannot get a job without Daddy's interventions.

    • @MelissaDuffySacredBreath
      @MelissaDuffySacredBreath 2 месяца назад

      @@LittleMew133 In too many cases nowadays parents are both working and kids have daycare or after school programs. They may not all be able to meet those standards. Parents too need support and encouragement because if they are downtrodden and have low-self-esteem and are not able to make ends meet they can't impress values of 'being smart, independent and kind.' Some turn to drug addiction and alcoholism or 'check out' in other ways. They can't 'give' positive parenting but others who are teachers, neighbors, and other mentors can also provide positive mentoring for both children and adults and when there is a 'village' where we help one another and help children and elders who aren't just 'biologically' our parents or kids this helps our society to grow stronger.

    • @MelissaDuffySacredBreath
      @MelissaDuffySacredBreath 2 месяца назад +6

      @@LittleMew133 It's that balance of neither telling your child they are 'God's gift to humankind and can do no wrong' nor telling them constantly how they have 'messed up' and constantly correcting them or 'improving them.' I like what Michelle and Melinda spoke about in letting their kids make their own mistakes and helping them to cope with this and learn from this rather than either coddling or putting down their children.

    As a mother and practicing infectious disease physician, my experience during the height of COVID-19 was quite different from most people's. My decision to leave my family and work was driven by a desire to help my children grow into good citizens. During the pandemic, I discovered the power of social media and saw how experts used these platforms to amplify their "power of small" into global influence. This not only helped me stay safe and protect my family and friends, but also allowed me to better care for my patients.
