    I really like the parenting philosophy that you raise people, not babies.

    • @LittleMew133
      @LittleMew133 4 месяца назад +13

      As people, they are put on a set of standards that they are expected to live accordingly. To be smart, independent, kind. THAT's parenting. If you raise your children to just breath air and survive, that's cattle-ing, not parenting.

    • @LittleMew133
      @LittleMew133 4 месяца назад +2

      Some people, usually from low standard families, like to talk real sh*t about parents who intentionally try to their children's ego in check. But those people are the same ego-centric people who, when rubber meets the road of reality, cannot get a job without Daddy's interventions.

    • @MelissaDuffySacredBreath
      @MelissaDuffySacredBreath 4 месяца назад

      @@LittleMew133 In too many cases nowadays parents are both working and kids have daycare or after school programs. They may not all be able to meet those standards. Parents too need support and encouragement because if they are downtrodden and have low-self-esteem and are not able to make ends meet they can't impress values of 'being smart, independent and kind.' Some turn to drug addiction and alcoholism or 'check out' in other ways. They can't 'give' positive parenting but others who are teachers, neighbors, and other mentors can also provide positive mentoring for both children and adults and when there is a 'village' where we help one another and help children and elders who aren't just 'biologically' our parents or kids this helps our society to grow stronger.

    • @MelissaDuffySacredBreath
      @MelissaDuffySacredBreath 4 месяца назад +7

      @@LittleMew133 It's that balance of neither telling your child they are 'God's gift to humankind and can do no wrong' nor telling them constantly how they have 'messed up' and constantly correcting them or 'improving them.' I like what Michelle and Melinda spoke about in letting their kids make their own mistakes and helping them to cope with this and learn from this rather than either coddling or putting down their children.

    As a mom of two young boys, and trying to raise them to become good people of this universe, there are so many take aways. Parenting is to find a fine line between your ego and good intention, which I find it difficult!
    It is refreshing to hear them talk how difficult it was to raise kids intentionally.

    Thank you Melinda, for having former First Lady Michelle Obama on your show. I learned from the rich nuggets that she shared, coupled with the rich gems 💎 you shared as well. Fri, July 26. 2024.

    Thank you Melinda French Gates for creating this fantastic and fascinating series. I started by watching Oprah and Gayle's episode and went down the rabbit hole of watching them all. You are a true PERENNIAL, a term I coined back in 2016 to describe a mindset of ever-blooming, curious people of all ages who resist categorization and continue to push up against their growing edge. Thank you for spreading your seeds of wisdom and wonder. We need it!

    I did not live in a emotionally stable household. She is right parents can make or break your view in life. I find myself being negative at times. I really liked her advice at the end to find someone who can help you see the positive even if its not a family member. Thanks it helped me a lot🙏

    Love the message of focusing on small things! It means a lot to me! I don't have a big platform and don't want one. I make a difference in people's lives when and where I can! I have shared breast milk with a mom who adopted and needed breastfeeding milk, I've donated my hair for cancer wigs several times, I have a long history of donating whole blood, have given platelets several times, have more recently given plasma, have volunteered at a local park and at a church food distribution, and plan to continue doing things like these. So many opportunities to do for others and help people! :)

    True, Peaceful, Caring, and Warm words were spoken from FFL Michelle Obama. She was reminding all of our generations that we must continue to manage our lives. Pick your head up and do what's best for the country. We really work better together. Ms. Melinda asked Healthy, Intentional, Empathy, Smart, Real questions. It takes that "Go High" mentality she's been talking about! "Its an enormous gift." Thanks Melinda❤❤❤

    I'm in awe of Melinda , I saw an interview with colbert, and boy was I impressed, she proved to me that money does not make person, family makes the person, she did not shine under gates, now, on her own , she exudes light, more power to her!!
