that is nice that he will get the Cascade that he wanted. The first half of the tree turned out so beautiful,. Oh! And I must thank you for showing that it is the smaller branches that will root, and not the bigger ones. Thank-you for the knowledge that I can use. it is appreciated.
I really love that someone listens to your videos to help them relax for sleep. That is a great idea plus I'm feeling some of what you're saying might manage to sink into my skull when I'm asleep. And that will help!
Good morning Peter. It teaches how to make decisions and get the most out of the material we have at that time. When a tree must have the shape of a fish bone, which for all manuals is an aberration, and enhance it. When you choose a waterfall shape, even if you don't have a head. This is how a unique bonsai comes out and you are left with your mouth open. Thank you for teaching us to prioritize the health of the tree and plant it at the wrong angle before showing us the end result you wanted.
this second half has some lovely bends in it. it is amazing to watch you find so many possibilities on one tree... That is what results in years of doing this, and having a flair for it.
At ~ 7:24, 9:27 to ~ 14:40, looking directly at the front of the cascade, the overlapping curves of the 2 branches created a circular illusion. Another interesting view as well.
Thank you for everything you do! your videos always inspire me to grow my skill in this beautiful art. you are truly like the bob ross of bonsai. always teaching making bonsai accessible to newer bonsai enthusiasts and inspiring all your watchers! thank you
Your 250k sub video was so magical man. I feel like I know you so much better. Also, your accent soothes me. I play these videos usually when im getting ready to go to sleep, and ill tell ya. It helps me relax.
💯 same. There is something so calming about Peter’s voice… plus I feel like I’ve become a better bonsai hobbyist, just by subconsciously hearing so many of his videos as I sleep! 🙃
Great series of videos. The hardest part of trying for so many years for me, is seeing the potential. I have Sooooo many little trees that I have not touched, just letting them grow because I basically just dont know where to start, or what is actually there in the tree....Thank you Mr. Chan... please if you can, come back to these two maybe in the fall so we can see the progression. Thats the one thing many dont do. They will do a demonstration, but wont come back 6 months later to show the progression. Good video.
Yes 👍🏽 I have a split juniper bush and trying to make 2 last year .. but one didn’t make it ...But the one one that is surviving looks just like your cascade.. I’m happy for your choice I-made the same choice of a cascading tree!!! Bravo
Since I'm new to this, and not knowing the rule that 'a cascade should have a top leader' I think it works! I'm very impressed with the shape and your design 😉
I really don't like cascades. They always seems so sad. It was really neat to see the work put into making the one tree into two and what Pete had done to each of the half's to give them a unique style, but Im just not a fan of cascade.
Very elegant solution Peter. Do you recommend an allotted time in part shade to recover for a tree so drastically manipulated? Or any other special handling?
I am new to bonsai, and have just begun with trees... strictly a hobby. There's been a recent death in my family, and one of the gifts was a potted mini-rose... I'm thinking it would make an excellent 'memorial' bonsai, and I'm seeing pics of a few finished trees, but not much in practical advice. Are they particularly difficult? Any special techniques or considerations? Any advice would be much appreciated.
I think windswept with that tree also looks wrong because that bend is 90 degrees, so a hard angle, and if the trunk is right angle perpendicular to the ground, it's just too much right angles and looks too "ordered" which is unnatural. Just my thoughts. I can style a tree, but keeping it alive is a different story 🤣
It's not two for the price of one, but twice the cost from one! Two pots, more wire, twice the soil and double the expense of Master Chan's experience. Of course, I'm not paying anything to watch so my comment is worthless. Thank-you for sharing this wonderful tutorial and congratulations to the owner for his good fortune to now have two bonsai "children" from Peter Chan!
I’ve watched many videos and asked on other forums but I never understand why there is such a divide between people who don’t even dare touch the tree after pruning/wiring and people who prune/wire/and repot all in one go. If anyone can help me with this I’d be very thankful. I’ve been searching everywhere :(
I'm no expert but to my personal view this tree looks terrible now. So many moments it had real form and beauty but this chipped, chipped, chipped away until virtually was nothing left. That is one of the worst looking bonsai tree's I've ever seen. It connotates weakness and emptiness with bad taste. When you put the plastic bag over it to even just wonder "should I make it literally one branch" I thought wow we must be living in two different worlds. You have really ruined all that it was and could be

Thanks both. It would be nice to see these trees in a couple of years to see how they are doing.
Love watching a tree go from a hopeless mess to a unique beauty.

We have the wonderful murakami gardens near to us but no bonsai clubs that I have been able to find. So you are my bonsai club! How lucky am I!

Give em a few years, you will have 2 unique bonsai trees, thx for sharing Peter 🙏. Next one please 🌲👌

Just love these 2 videos. A master class, thank you for talking us though the process.
Excellent work Peter
It really is so lovely to watch such beautiful skill at work. To have such an outstanding eye!
Thank you. I keep learning video after video.
Beautiful results both of them.

I usually struggle with the pads, but you really helped me to improve my technique with this video. Thanks!!!
I look forward to all of these videos! Thank you for sharing your experiences 👨🌾🙏🪴
Good work, Pete.
This has been a super interesting tree to watch transform. Great job at making two beautiful trees out of one. 🙏👍❤
A good demonstration of how you can create two attractive bonsai out of a wild mess.

I love the befor and after view. Thanks for posting.
I would have been very tempted to make this one into a raft, a very cute pair of trees growing from a fallen trunk.

It seems like you can convert that like a big leaf but its also beautiful.
Love this. When you turn it to find the best side you have to slide the heavy pot. Could you not use a turntable to help?
Very elegant solution Peter.

Until it shows signs of new growth.
I can imagine sandwiching a birdhouse in the squarish crooks on this tree

Hey Peter, how often do you clean and sharpen your pruning shears? or "loppers" ? :D
If you wrapped the trunk in wet raffia would cracks or splitting in the trunk be a problem?
No
May I kindly ask what make your watch is?

Bonsai has taught me patience
What has it taught everyone else ?

great
You said you will allow the owner to make the decisions to train him :D
I’m always confused. Watching these videos he repots right after pruning but isn’t that a big no no?

People's tastes and preferences differ. Some people think that Picasso's work looks terrible ;)
