Always a pleasure to see your videos. I live in California and I have a desert like landscape along with a beautiful acacia. I have grown acacias from seeds and they make beautiful bonsai at an early age, I’m also working on 2 different forest
I dugout a Chinese juniper couple of days ago. I planted it in 2007 on the ground as a garden bush and was not more tall than 4 feet x 4 feet because I kept it trimmed . It has a big trunk and I style it yesterday as good as I can. I am 67 year old lady and after the digging all my body hurts like I was running a marathon. It took me good two hours of work. But I am really exited about this new bonsai. I was always very athletic, running, swimming it’s amazing how your body changes. I started during the pandemic the bonsai with Peter and continue, I have many bonsai s now mostly Japanese maples and I can’t wait every day to go out on the garden. Thanks Peter and company for your daily inspiration.
My inclination is to find a design in the given tree, instead of engineering a design. I tend to be a "dumb luck" kind of guy. It inspires me to find and dig a tree with interesting possibilities intact. This video validates this approach for me . . . thank you.
I loved this. You guys really speak my mind! Imagening the birds and keeping the trees natural. It might be a shrub still to some, but it already gives my imagination wings. And thats, as you said, the essence of the comfort we experience in Bonsai!
Being one with nature helps with my ASD,ADHD and Asperger's it's why I enjoy gardening and creating stock for future bonsai, I have a 19 yr old T tree which started me off 4 years ago😊
I also find bonsai quite spiritual. I only have about 15 trees, mainly grown from seed or cuttings over the past 20 years. The time I have spent looking at them seeing how they adapt to a new cut or different soil adds up to many hours being free from all the other day to day thoughts so that I always walk away refreshed. I'm not stating my bonsai table is an altar but it certainly has a beneficial effect on my mental health.
This looks like a mature natural tree to me..put into a nice pot and some moss added as a top dressing..so bon sai at its best.. 👍 Of course bonsai is/can be also understood as an art form but there's nothing wrong with a project like this. I like it very much!! 🤗
A great insight of Bonsai being mindfulness personally it calms my mind and the connection with nature understanding a trees natural habitat also looking at trees in the wild gives me inspiration thank you Peter another inspiration video 🫶
I was very interested in this, as I also have adhd and autism. I agree that bonsai is a mindful and spiritual experience, I have started many cuttings last year and I'm growing some from seeds also 🙏🏻
Great video. At the end of the day the aim of bonsai is to recreate nature's beauty in miniature form.if you can stand back and see a representation of a full size tree in the distance you have achieved your goal. Yes there are established "rules" but to my mind they've always been a guide not the ultimate goal. After all if you're constantly fighting a tree to bend it to your will rather than adapting and trying to work with what it gives you it will never look its best.
A very nice tree. With a little more refining I believe it will still retain the desired result of looking like a naturally grown tree. Still, a lovely bonsai that I would be proud to have. 👍
@@peterchan3100 Thank you Peter I am a big fan here in Connecticut I know that you don't ship outside of England, so I was wondering if there ws an Asian contact that will ship to the states
We have scientific data proving that trees do communicate with one another. I’ve read some of them. Plants can make very high sounds that a human ear can’t hear. In case of danger trees tell every other trees about it. In their own way. There’s a kind of special scent plants produce on some occasions - that’s like a language. And. A frightening thing: trees feel when they are cut. And tell other trees about this danger. So, what’s going in a bonsai centre?
They do communicate, although not on a conscious way like humans!(as far as known/proven) When there are under attack by pests they release a sort of hormone/smell to be less attractive. Other plants/trees react on that and start the same process.
@@e-nglish635 and plants make noise to! When they dry out they(maybe not al plants) make a popping sound, not detectable for humans. Some think it is communicating of some sort or a cry for help. Science(so far) knows it is the implosion/collapse of cell walls because of dehydration.
@@e-nglish635there has been a misconception about mycorrhizal beeing like a big internet/communicating thing in old forests between different trees. Later research showed that trees can communicate without that mycorrhizal presence in the soul. Simple communication about treaths they evolved with, like pests and fungi. Surviving, that is where it is all about. That doesn’t mean they have fear/emotions.
I do and prefer natural bonsai. The Art bonsai trees are nice but they look artificial to me. Give me a tree that looks like a tree. Thank you Peter. Enjoyed the video❤
I liked the round grey one, but it's art, and this is the artists vision and it's beautiful.

Watching from South Africa and really enjoyed every moment of this video.
I hope South African bonsai is progressing well. Years since I was there.

What an incredible feelgood video. Thankyou Peter & Clive.
So awesome to see Clive and Peter in a video together.
To Be A Bonsai! 🤘🏼⚡
Clive understands the true spirit of bonsai. Great guy. I really enjoyed working with him.
It just goes to show you what you can achieve when you learn from Peter. ;) Green side up style.

Let me know if you need any help or ideas with those big trees you have in the ground.
I’m 6 minutes in and loving this! I too have ADHD and find bonsai calms the mind and promotes awareness

That is the best way to approach bonsai - with an Open Mind.
Dancing, painting, bonsai and mindfulness! That sounds like a really good time. 😊
One of my favourite trees you’ve shown. Big fan of naturalistic styling 👍
I am a simple man, I see Peter Chan, I click!❤
I am only a simple gardener.

I wonder where are my sceptics? None so far?
Easiest natural style anyone could try, I'd find a smaller pot, but it's just me, grats...thx for sharing Peter

Hi Peter I'm not quite sure if you said? But what tree is this?
Picea nidiformis
I think Clive is the grandson of Biggles?

Not any different than being grazed upon in nature. It's about balance

why are your wearing sunglasses?
They are reactive glasses - reactive to light. I remember using them about 30 years ago!
