I like this style of tree. I understand that what some would call 'true'literati draws inspiration from calligraphy or philosophy as well as nature but I like that as a generalization this style doesn't *appear* formal such that it gives me a feeling like 'odd' trees are OK. I often hesitate to call the container trees I'm training g or experimenting with "bonsai" because there's a lot of baggage to that term. I personally like rather odd looking trees, like jin on deciduous trees or the 'ugly' roots. To me some of my trees look like dancing ladies or soldiers climbing out of their pots.
