    Another great recipe that my family loved. I love Indian food but was always afraid of cooking it and getting all the spices right. Now I’m eating more vegetarian dishes that I have thoroughly enjoyed. Thanks for sharing the recipe, your videos are great!

    Tried this recipe and it was delicious! Will definitely be making again. One important note though... the paneer burned super badly at the bottom of the instant pot whole browning and made clean up a huge effort. Next time I’ll brown the paneer in a non stick pan separately and then add to the gravy. The clean up ended up taking longer than making the whole dish. Other than that loved it!

      Gotta get the temperature hot enough and use a good oil, like ghee.

    We made this a couple weeks ago and it turned out amazing!
    We tried it again last night swapping out the heavy cream with cashew cream and was still delicious! It was a little spicier maybe because the cashew cream doesn’t cut the heat as much as the heavy cream but still soooo good! Thank you!

      That's a great idea to use cashew cream!

    If I use freshly blended tomatoes. How many Roma tomatoes do you think I should use? As far as it is 28oz, it’s ok?
    I love this recepie, I’ve made it before and was a big hit for the family. I want to make it with fresh tomatoes for Mother’s Day.

    Feels like cheating by using Shan masala but who cares, I don't have the patience to make my own. We didn't buy instant pot to cook for hours, so there you go. Nice video!!

    How many tablespoons of butter chicken masala should we add?

  • @mycraftydreams

    Looks great - thanks for sharing! One suggestion for anyone who wants to make it even more "restaurant style" - add the cream once the IP is done and use an immersion blender to blend up the tomato/onion gravy until it's smooth. Add the paneer and kasoori methi after that and then simmer for a few minutes. Thanks Poonam!

      So I made this for dinner tonight. Love that it was all done in less than an hour, making it possible to have a weekend dish on a Monday night after work. I do feel that the tomatoes made it a little too tart for my tastes, so I think next time I'll make a little cashew paste and throw that it prior to the 5 minutes of IP time. Also, had a ton of gravy left over (since we don't typically eat it with rice, 2 packages of paneer would have been good instead of one) so I'm going to add some chicken and repressurize. Thanks for an easy recipe!

      +Mona Sen Happy to hear that you enjoyed it! Yes, there definitely is a lot of gravy in this dish but it's a personal preference for my family. It's a great idea to repurpose it with chicken!

    Great recipe but I got a "burn" message on my IP! Do you know why I could have gotten the message? I did add some water after putting in the crushed tomatoes and the whipping cream and followed all the instructions step-by-step. Thank you!

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  5 лет назад

      Unfortunately a lot of the new instant pots are ultra sensitive to the burn message. You may need to add extra water and scrape the bottom of the pot before pressure cooking.

    Is there any way to make this a bit more thick? Looks great btw!

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  5 лет назад

      You could possibly add a cornstarch and water mixture after pressure cooking and allow to thicken on sauté mode for a few minutes.

    Is there any other creams we can use for lactose intolerant people?

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  5 лет назад

      You may be able to make a cashew cream and add it after pressure cooking to give it the same creaminess.

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam

      If you do, make sure you have enough liquid in your pot otherwise you will get the burn signal.

    will it be the same if I use milk or curd instead of cream?

    • @InstapottinWithPoonam
      @InstapottinWithPoonam  6 лет назад

      It won't be as creamy but if you do, use the milk or curd after pressure cooking so it will not curdle.

      Also if you use yogurt, reduce the tomatoes. Yogurt will make the gravy tart, just as the tomatoes do.

    Very unhealthy! The big can of crushed tomatoes contain so much sodium and preservatives instead crush your fresh own tomatoes at home. Whipping cream - which is the most unhealthy ingredient made out of saturated fats rather go for 2% milk or cashew milk for vegans. Instead of using pre packaged masala, we can use garam masala and throw our own cardamom, cloves, etc. I think we can resort to more simpler and healthier eating options.

    • @meetmeinva
      @meetmeinva 3 года назад

      I was thinking the same when I watched this! Never understood "whipping cream" or "canned tomatoes" for Indian food.
