    Great video Dave. I just stopped yesterday at my local Chevy dealer. They have no information from GM of when they are coming online with NACS. I told them I’ve heard from (Kyle and Tom) people in the know, that it should be in a few weeks. They have no idea, I’m really concerned with these cars companies who do not communicate with their dealers. Then I informed him I heard I have to pay for my adapter yet ford and rivian owners are getting them for free. Again, they had no info. My poor little Bolt, oh well keep up the good work and stay safe.

    EA was out at the site on Wednesday afternoon(6/12) working on at least one of those units that was down. Interestingly the tech had a Model 3 and was plugged in with an adapter. Second time I've seen a tech out there, last one had a Lightning. Also those Urban Chargers have been busy lately, last week 10 stalls were in use....most I've ever seen. Keep up the good work!

    I've have the good fortune to be driving electric for 11 years (In Australia). I have only used EV stations 5 times. 3 for fun, and twice because i needed to. Otherwise I have simply always charged at home. Of the 2 times i did charge out of necessity (on a road trip), 1 of the charges only worked on the 4th or 5th try. It was not a good feeling. So I can totally see why people are weary of charging stations. Perhaps i will have to use one again in another 4 years, so lets hope they are working better by then.

    Maybe EA is trying to avoid higher peak demand fees when the 350kW chargers operate during on-peak hours. It would be an interesting project to see if those same 350kW chargers were "working" during off-peak hours.

    I bought my EV less than a month ago. So far there are 3 locations for EA chargers in my area. 2 is behind a Bank of America and 1 is in an outlet mall. I went to both of the EA stations that are behind BOA. 4 chargers each location. Mostly 3/4 of the 150 kwh chargers work. On one occasion, the chargers were updating one at a time. Which made only 2 available on one of the location. The one that was not working has a busted card reader. I went 2 days ago to charge and they were fixing it. 3/4 working well. No issues with payments as its plug and play. I have yet to test 350 kwh chargers. We are heading for a road trip down to DC and will probably hit Stamford CT I 95 chargers. Hoping charging will go smoothly

    Visiting friends in Newtown, CT, I decided to charge our EQS at the EA station in East Hartford. Surprisingly, all 4 stations were operating. In contrast, I’ve charged at the Naples, FL EA station and have never seen all 4 stalls functioning. Each time 1,2, or 3 stalls are down.
    If our road trip needs more than one DC Fast charger, we use a Tesla instead of a CCS car. Until MB can charge at a Supercharger, I have extreme charger anxiety when riding with my wife. Our household will never have an ICE or hybrid car.

    Maybe publish EA customer service numbers so people can register their issues. Text, call, email or post and let them know.

    My Model Y pulls 115 kWs at 50%. ... But I really think it would be safe for Tesla to flatten that charging curve. There a couple of studies on Teslas that show Teslas that are fast charged 90% of the time vs those that are slow charged 90% of the time have no significant difference in degradation. And there are a couple of RUclips videos by people who have to fast charge a lot with a lot of mileage on their Tesla and they say they have no significant degradation. ... Come on Tesla, open up that charging curve.

    Notice the absurdly high cost of DC fast charging at this EA station: $.64/kwhr (before tax). The continental US utility rate for residential AC is around $.12/kwhr or so. This is why DC fast charging infrastructure is not as important as EV enthusiasts believe. Most people here in USA will charge at home on level 2 AC in their garage.

    • @Ctnbl
      @Ctnbl 16 дней назад +1

      Still 1000% necessary, not everyone can charge at home. Even if every person charged at home, believe it or not, people sometimes go on road trips. They are used to driving 4-500 miles without stopping so quick charges are crucial. EA is overpriced but Tesla is about half that price

  • @KJSvitko
    @KJSvitko 16 дней назад +1

    It is just crazy that charging companies (other than TESLA) have such poor charging reliability.
    They have been installing chargers for years and should have the reliability issues worked out by now.
    These chargers should be money makers for the charging companies but they make no money when they are off line and not working.
    This is bad for the charging companies, it is bad for the auto makers selling electric vehicles and it is bad for owners of EVs trying to charge.

    Fast charging at non Tesla chargers is horrible in southwestern Connecticut. Traveling south of the George Washington bridge to New Jersey along I95 and the garden state parkway, I counted no chargers at the service stations on those roads. It’s pathetic. You have to get off the highway and find some non descript charging location. Wastes more time.
